My mum's a real good keeper of our books, toys and clothes. Some of these cards games are not available for sale now and can only be purchased from a toy museum.

While Alycia and Sherilyn spent their afternoon at the Ipoh Swimming Club with their grand aunts and cousins, I stayed home with Cass and we played all the card and board games that I used to play with when I was her age -- Old Maid, Beggar My Neighbor, Happy Families, Snakes And Ladders, chess, Black Jack and Go Fish using a deck of Playing Cards. The weather in Ipoh was hotter than KL and we stayed indoor with the air-conditioner turned on all day, enjoying our good old board and card games :)
I haven't seen Beggar My Neighbour before. How do you play the game? I think Happy Family and Old Maid are still available but with new / updated images on the cover as well on the cards itself. Did you play Snap and Donkey, too? I enjoyed playing card games with my cousins but sometimes we got too excited and would be a little rough. Thus, the edges get ripped slightly, especially when we played Snap.
ReplyDeleteHi Carenlyn
ReplyDeleteI have zero recollection on how to play Beggar My Neighbour lol! Played with this when I was about 8 or 9 years old. Yes, we played Snap and Donkey too. Loved Donkey. It's sad that these days, kids seem to have very interest in playing with card games huh?
