Have you tried Dutch Lady x Tealive’s new packet milk?
The other day, I spotted two new products in the chiller at 99 Speedmart — Dutch Lady x Tealive Signature Matcha and Dutch Lady x Tealive Signature Milk Tea.
I picked up the Matcha flavour to try. It’s RM2.60 for a 250ml pack with a cap.
My verdict? The matcha notes are nicely balanced with the milk, but it’s a little too sweet for my palate. 😅 Since I hardly ever drink packet or canned drinks or flavoured milk, I guess I’m just more sensitive to the sweetness.
I found a way to enjoy it, though — I added it to my plain yoghurt, and the tartness of the yoghurt helped balance out the sweetness. It actually worked pretty well! 😂
Next, I’m going to try the Signature Milk Tea. Let’s see if that one suits my taste buds better.
Have you tried either of these two new Dutch Lady x Tealive packet milk? What did you think?

Affordable & Delicious Chap Fan in Ipoh
Our lunch is usually chap fan, while Dad takes care of cooking dinner. Depending on the day, we'll either tapau our lunch home or eat at the shop.
Today's lunch from Resipi Chong, Ipoh Garden came to just RM23.90 for the three of us. That's pretty good value!
We only dine in when it's Resipi Chong because it's air-conditioned, clean, comfortable, and has a pleasant ambience. They also provide free soup, drinking water, tea, ice cubes, and tissues.
One thing I really like is their wide selection of dishes—there are easily 50 or more to choose from. Every dish has a price tag, so you know exactly how much you're paying before you fill your plate. Fish can be a little pricey, ranging from RM7 to RM16 per piece, so we usually choose carefully.
We often stop by for lunch here after fetching Mum from her physiotherapy session.
Economical, tasty food, a comfortable place to eat, and best of all... no cooking, no washing up, and no cleaning the kitchen afterwards! 😄
| Dad took two dishes + plain congee, mum took 3 dishes with rice and mine, as you can guess, is without rice, almost keto. |

Domino's New Pizza Puff – A Tasty Grab-and-Go Meal for Only RM9.90
Yesterday I received some complimentary samples from Domino's Pizza to try their brand-new Pizza Puff range.
Wrapped in a golden, flaky crust and folded into a half-moon shape, the Pizza Puff locks in the heat and its generous fillings, giving you a warm, satisfying bite from start to finish. Unlike a traditional pizza, everything is neatly sealed inside, making it easy to enjoy on the go without the mess.
At only RM9.90 each, it's a great grab-and-go option for lunch, dinner, or whenever you're short on time but still want something hot and filling.
The Pizza Puff comes in three delicious flavours:
🍕 Loaded Beef – Ground beef, beef pepperoni, smoky BBQ sauce, and melted mozzarella.
🍕 Loaded Chicken – Chicken potpourri sausages, chicken pepperoni, tomato pizza sauce, and melted mozzarella.
🧀 Loaded Cheese – Perfect for cheese lovers, with a rich molten cheese centre, melted mozzarella, and tomato pizza sauce.
My personal favourite is the Loaded Cheese. If you're a cheese lover like me, you'll probably enjoy this one the most! The moment I received the Pizza Puffs, they were still piping hot and I immediately dug in. The crust was very crispy, while the inside was soft, hot, and generously filled with gooey melted cheese and savoury fillings in every bite.
For just RM9.90, I think it's very reasonably priced and surprisingly filling. If you're looking for a quick, convenient meal or snack that's easy to eat on the move, Domino's Pizza Puff is definitely worth a try.

Cheapest Roast Chicken & Roast Duck in Ipoh at Restoran & Kafe New Weng Fatt
I think I've found the cheapest roast chicken and roast duck in Ipoh!
I discovered this hidden gem at Restoran & Kafe New Weng Fatt, Ipoh Garden South, after my 80-year-old mum and I finished our gym session nearby.
For just RM5 (without rice), you get a generous serving of beautifully roasted chicken breast with a lovely charred aroma. Even the roast duck breast is only RM5 per portion without rice! Great value, and the meat is tender and delicious with herb sauce.
The chicken rice seller was also incredibly friendly. I asked for extra cucumber, and he happily gave me more with a smile—no complaints or excuses, unlike some places.
Right next to the chicken rice stall is another stall selling Ipoh-style kai si hor fun (shredded chicken noodles), lam mee, and curry noodles. Mum ordered the Lam Mee (RM9), and we were pleasantly surprised. The rich chicken broth was excellent—honestly, I'd put it on par with the famous kai si hor fun soup at Lou Wong and Thean Chun in Ipoh Old Town.
I'll definitely be back to try their curry noodles and kai si hor fun to see how they rank among Ipoh's best. Have you been here before?

Muzi Matcha Cafe @ Tambun, Ipoh
Tucked away in the peaceful neighbourhood of Tambun, Ipoh, Muzi Matcha Café is a hidden gem that feels like stepping into a serene Japanese retreat. Housed in a charming bungalow, this café has quickly gained popularity for its Instagram-worthy aesthetics, calming ambiance, and of course—its dedication to all things matcha.
From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere was soothing and inviting. The minimalist Japanese-inspired design, combined with soft natural lighting and greenery, made it the perfect spot to unwind after a meal. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, and you just want to sit back and savour every sip and bite.
We visited the café after lunch, looking for somewhere cozy to enjoy some light desserts and drinks—and Muzi did not disappoint.
🍵 What We Tried
Being a family of matcha lovers we couldn’t resist sampling a variety of their signature items.
- Matcha Cheesecake – Rich, creamy, and beautifully balanced. It reminded me very much of the ones from The Tokyo Restaurant at Lot 10 in KL—definitely a compliment!
- Strawberry Daifuku (Mochi) – A clear favourite among my girls. Soft, chewy, and filled with a delightful combination of fresh strawberry and sweet filling.
- Matcha Latte & Green Tea – As someone who is quite particular about matcha, I must say I was genuinely impressed. The green tea was smooth, fragrant, and incredibly satisfying.
In fact, I loved their green tea so much that I was tempted to buy some home. Unfortunately, they don’t sell their green tea bags —but they do offer Muzi matcha powder (RM88 for 50g), which I already happen to have at home (thanks to a thoughtful birthday gift from Alycia’s friend).
💚 The Verdict
Muzi Matcha Café is more than just a place to eat—it’s an experience. Whether you’re a matcha enthusiast or simply looking for a peaceful café to relax in, this spot ticks all the boxes.
The desserts are thoughtfully crafted, the drinks are top-notch, and the ambiance makes you want to linger just a little longer.
We truly enjoyed our time there and are already looking forward to our next visit—especially when my girls are back in Ipoh again to visit me.

Canning Dim Sum (Halal) @ Canning Garden, Ipoh
When Alycia came back to Ipoh to surprise me for my birthday, we decided to celebrate with brunch at Canning Dim Sum — a popular halal dim sum spot in Canning Garden.
The restaurant offers more than 100 varieties of halal-certified dim sum in a spacious, family-friendly environment. One thing that immediately caught our attention was the beautifully designed garden-style façade — it’s very photogenic and perfect for taking pictures 📸
There’s a wide selection of both steamed and fried dim sum to choose from. Overall, the food was good, and I especially enjoyed the chicken siew mai. Surprisingly, it didn’t have the strong “porky” smell that you sometimes get from non-halal siew mai, which made it extra pleasant to eat.
Prices start from about RM3.20 per basket. Our total bill came to RM144.20 for five adults — slightly on the higher side, but still reasonable for the variety and experience. Since Ipoh is famously known for its many non-halal dim sum options, this was actually our first time trying halal dim sum here, and it was a nice change.
After brunch, we spent some time taking photos at their colourful outdoor garden area, which made the visit even more memorable 🌿✨

Aro Restaurant, Ipoh (South Indian Cuisine)
If you’re exploring Ipoh Old Town and craving something different from the usual local fare, we recently discovered a hidden gem — Aro Restaurant, located just a few minutes’ walk from the famous Concubine Lane.
This cozy South Indian restaurant serves up hearty, traditional meals that truly hit the spot.
We ordered their mutton nasi briyani, special fish thali, and non-vegetarian thali — and every dish was full of rich, comforting flavors.
The highlight for us was definitely the mutton briyani. The meat was incredibly tender and well-marinated. In fact, my 80-year-old mum, who has gum issues, had no trouble enjoying it at all — that’s how soft it was!
The thali sets were equally impressive. For those unfamiliar, a thali is a complete, balanced meal served on a single plate, featuring a variety of dishes — from vegetables and lentils to flavorful curries and accompaniments. It’s a wonderful way to experience different tastes and textures all in one sitting.
What made it even more special was the little dessert that came with the thali — a comforting bowl of red bean, black glutinous rice, and coconut milk “tong sui”. Such a delightful surprise!
As for drinks, we kept it simple and traditional:
A refreshing mango lassi (we requested it without sugar)
A fragrant masala tea with strong notes of cloves and spices
And a cup of aromatic bru coffee made with fresh cow’s milk
Everything complemented the meal beautifully.
Now, just a small heads-up — the only downside during our visit was the air conditioning. It was a very hot afternoon, and only one unit was running, so we ended up… quite literally drenched in sweat by the end of lunch 😅
Also, parking around the Concubine Lane area can be quite challenging, especially during peak tourist hours.
But overall? The food, the authenticity, and the experience made it absolutely worth the visit.

Famous Pau in Bercham - A Visit to Restoran Loke Yuen
It’s a Saturday morning in Bercham, and we stopped by a humble coffee shop that many locals swear by for their pau.
Restoran Loke Yuen may look unassuming, but by 11:30am there was already a long queue for their famous steamed paus.
The coffee shop sits on the same row as the well-known K10 Claypot Chicken Rice.
While waiting, we also tapau some yong tau fu and stuffed “liu” from the stall next door.
From the pau stall, we managed to grab a few char siu paus, ma lai ko, and black sesame mantou — the other fillings were already sold out.
First impression?
The pau skin was soft, fluffy, and pillowy — not soggy or starchy.
The char siu filling was flavorful without being overly salty or sweet, and thankfully there was no strong ammonia smell.
At RM4 each, the char siu pau isn’t cheap — but it’s definitely delicious.
The ma lai ko was also wonderfully soft and worth getting again.
As for the yong tau fu — it’s the solid tofu type, while we personally prefer the softer version. The fried savory turnip cakes were quite good though, and the other stuffed “liu” were decent.
Next time we’re craving char siu pau again, this little coffee shop in Bercham will definitely be our go-to place to stock up.

Nana Vietnam Kitchen at Festival Walk, Jalan Medan Ipoh
Yesterday my parents and I tried Nana Vietnam Kitchen at Festival Walk, Jalan Medan Ipoh, and it turned out to be such a satisfying dinner.
Opened by a lovely couple (with the lady boss from Vietnam), this cosy little spot serves authentic Vietnamese street food favourites like banh mi, beef pho, Gỏi cuốn (fresh spring rolls), plus a variety of Vietnamese-style rice and noodle sets.
My parents and I ordered their classic beef pho, lemongrass & chilli chicken rice set, and spring rolls to share. The portions were surprisingly big — so big we couldn’t even finish everything and had to tapau the leftovers (no regrets though 😆).
The food was flavourful, comforting, and tasted really homemade. Service was friendly, the restaurant was clean, and the prices were super reasonable too. For 3 adults including tea, the total bill was only RM57.90. Honestly such good value.
Definitely coming back to try more dishes next time. If you’re in Ipoh and craving Vietnamese food, this place is worth checking out!

K10 Claypot Chicken Rice @ Bercham, Ipoh
Earlier this week, my 82-year-old dad brought my mum and me to his favourite claypot chicken rice spot in Bercham New Village — K10 Claypot Chicken Rice.
Food in Bercham is incredibly affordable because it’s a new village. A portion of roast chicken breast is just RM5, and roast chicken costs only RM3 — by far the cheapest I’ve ever seen in Ipoh or KL. In KL, it would easily cost double.
Back to K10. The claypot chicken rice was delicious — not overly salty, dark, or oily. Even with salted fish, the rice was well balanced. The chicken pieces were tender and juicy. I also ordered a freshly made ambra juice with preserved plum (no sugar), which was super refreshing on a hot day paired with a piping-hot claypot of rice.
The total bill for a big pot of claypot chicken rice and a plate of blanched lettuce? Only RM30.
