The hubby and the big girl left the house at 8:30am to have the big girl's My Kad application done at JPN. Yes, my precious baby has just turned 12!
By 11am, they were back. The hubby has loads to do at the shop and office, thus I brought the girls for breakfast at our Indian restaurant and sent my car for a good wash.
Crispy Tosai Rawa for me. This is a healthier alternative to roti canai and chapati. I could only manage half the tosai. Cass helped to whack a few bites and the remaining was untouched. Yup, I eat that little.
Nasi Briyani for Alycia. Mutton curry and spinach for everyone.
Nasi lemak for Sherilyn and Cass.
Tonight we will be having our yearly New Year's Eve dinner with our regular bunch of friends at a Chinese restaurant.
I'd like to wish all my dear readers a very happy new year and thank you very much for still reading my crap :D

Our 3rd Day Of Christmas 2015
Our 3rd day of Christmas spent with my parents, brothers, SIL and niece from Singapore was yet another day of feasting. From morning through midnight. Gawd, since the dinner on Christmas Eve, I have been feeling really bloated. Today is a day of dieting for me, where I steered clear of meat. I can't wait for school to reopen so that we will be back to reality --back to humble meals and back to my exercise regime.
If you are looking forward to read more on our girls, I apologize that lately, all my posts are on food and more food. My blogs are morphing into a food blog! It's the norm during the holidays :D Bear with me for just 1 more week ok! ;)
Morning of 27 December 2015 - big brother Ray bought breakfast of pan meen. Less than 2 hours later, we were on our way to Pik Wah (MABA House) Restaurant for lunch.
Below - the life 'Soon Hock' fish waiting to be slaughtered. I felt really dreadful for the fish that was still swimming in the ice box, awaiting death. I told everyone that one day, I will turn vegan or lacto-ovo vegetarian. That's for sure.
Poor Nemo...
Below - Divine char siew, roasted to perfection (juicy, soft and toothsome!) and steamed free-range chicken....
Below - Fried rice with crispy silver fish, braised pork belly with salted fish in claypot and a vegetarian dish composed of lily bulbs, macadamia nuts, black fungus, lotus root, sweet peas, celery, bamboo shoots, water chestnut and carrots.
Below - spinach in superior soup and century eggs. Braised tofu, mushrooms, fish maw and siew pak choy.
Below - dessert of almond sweet soup and sweetened chilled longan and sea coconut.
After our delightful lunch, we went to the supermarket to shop for groceries and ingredients for the girls to make cup cakes for their daddy's early birthday celebration.
After shopping, the hubs suggested coffee and more desserts. Oh. My. Gawd! I looked like a 3 months preggers woman in her dress already!!
Your eyes will pop out soon when you see pix of our next indulgence!
Remember the previous time I blogged about the awesome pawsome desserts from this dessert cafe at Faber Towers and I had forgotten to snap a picture of the name of the cafe? Here you go...
We had a sweet time at SunConure Gateau after our heavy lunch...
These two sweet little girls will be the perfect ambassadors for the cafe!
SunConure's homemade walnut chocolate chip cookies are the bomb! They are really really addictive. When we went there the first time a month ago, we asked the owners if they sell their cookies but they said no. Now, they are for sale and my dad treated the girls to a canister of cookies. Thank you papa!
Snap a picture with SunConure's "Pavlova Christmas Tree" and share the picture on your Facebook page. Then tag SunConure on Facebook to earn yourself a slice of their delectable cake. Easy peasy right? We shared our pix on the spot and got treated to 2 slices of cake and a plate of walnut chocolate chip cookies!
After our heavy lunch and desserts and hardly any time for our innards to do their job to digest the food, we stuffed ourselves to another heavy dinner that night, at Naughty Nuri's. That was another meat-heavy meal but thoroughly enjoyable with loved ones. That will be in another post :)

Christmas Eve and Christmas Morning (24 & 25 December 2015)
Christmas Eve - 24 Dec 2015
We had a 3-in-1 joyous celebration at the hubby's uncle's house last night. It was to celebrate his uncle and aunt's wedding anniversary, the aunt's birthday and Christmas.
The hubby was in charged of the food and here's what he and his team dished out for the party...
Below - smoked salmon with salad.
Below - delectable chicken chop and mashed potato.
Below - BBQ succulent prawns and tomato in skewers.
Below - Roast whole lamb, steak, scallops and mussels.
Below - Juicy BBQ scallops and mussels
Below - fried rice, mixed vegetables with Portobello, quiche and pasta.
Below - assortment of fresh fruits and Nyonya kuih.
Below - Our girls with their 'aunt' Mel (hubby's cousin) and new friend, Michael from Christchurch.
Our girls started to warm up with their new friends from Christchurch during a game of cards. They will join us in our Christmas dinner tonight and the girls can't wait to continue their card game with them tonight. Playing games is one of the best ways to break the ice and loosen up to new found friends.
Our girls with their beautiful 'aunt' Mel and Michael from Christchurch. Michael is a very bubbly, sociable and cute little guy from Christchurch. He's the same age as Cass and is the live wire at the party who can play the piano like a pro at just 7 years old.
In case you missed out on my earlier posts, the hubby runs a catering company. If you need a caterer for your company and private functions, do give him a tinkle at 019 266 4297 (Catermate / Alan) :)
Christmas morning - 25 December 2015
We followed the hubby's aunts, uncle and cousins to the church for the 9am service. I thought we could not make it on time as we only went to bed at 1:30am this morning. But I was jolted from my beauty sleep up at 6am coz I had a darn painful leg cramp! It's been a long long time since I last had a leg cramp. Fish! But good thing, coz if it wasn't because of the leg cramp, I think I would have continued with my dream and slept in till 7ish am and wouldn't have made it on time for the 9am service.
There was a huge turnout at the church. After service, we queued up to get pau, courtesy from the church. As you can see from the pix below, the church compound was a sea of church-goers.
After church, we had breakfast at one of the coffee shops at Jln Imbi.
Tonight there will be another round of feasting. This time, there will be traditional Christmas dinner goodies, featuring stuffed turkey, stuffed ham, bacon, pumpkin soup, et al.
Here's wishing you a very merry blessed Christmas :)

Back In KL - 23 December 2015
We boarded the 11am ETS today, from Ipoh to KL Sentral. We were early this time! :D Thank you Lord for helping us reach the train station on time. The previous two occasions that we took the train, we were seriously late and only managed to hop onto the train right on the dot! *sweat* !! My bad!
Above - The girls with their grand aunt.
Above - Cass was SO happy to see her daddy waiting for us at the KL Sentral station. She ran to him and gave him a big beary hug!
Above - We had lunch at Sushi Zanmai @ Nu Sentral Mall.
Above - Then had Haagen Dazs ice-cream. It was the hubby's idea. I know he's been waiting for a long, long time to tuck into his favorite ice-cream with his angels :D

Our Sunday in Ipoh - 20 December 2015
We were at JJ Swissroll, Ipoh on Sunday to choose a birthday cake for my big brother, Raymond. It's the first time in more than a decade since we last celebrated his birthday together. His birthday falls on Winter Solstice Day (22 December) every year.
My mum did round one of the tang yuan (rice ball) prep by making the dough. She used purple sweet potato for the purple color, organic beetroot powder for the red color and blue pea flower for the blue color. Cass and Sherilyn helped to prep the dough.

Breakfast In Ipoh - 20 December 2015
Dad, mum and Alycia went to the Kg. Simee wet market to shop for perishables to cook tonight's dinner and bought some of the yummiest Ipoh hawkers' fare for breakfast. This is the market that I grew up with. We used to go to this market every Sunday since I was a toddler.
Below - our happy breakkie at home on a bright, sunny morning in Ipoh today...
My favorite Hakka fish balls and pork balls and stuffed super soft and smooth tofu. My favorite since I was a toddler. On the foreground is prawn wanton...
Below - all my favorite carbo from the market.
Loh Mai Kai, crispy Tai Kau Min (Chinese peanut pancake), kuih kasturi (fried mung bean kuih), yam cake, the world famous egg tarts from Kg. Simee market, Woon Jai Koh (cake in little cup). Also Char Siew Pau, wantan noodles and pandan flavor coconut water (not in picture)
Below - the magical egg tarts from Choy Kee @ Ipoh Simee Market. Best in Ipoh, best in the world! Imagine yourself biting into one such piece de resistance, freshly out from the oven, with crumbling fluffy pastry, bursting with the aroma of butter and a wobbly, hot, creamy centre of rich egg custard. Mmmmmm, that's the bomb!
Below - Woon Jai Koh (cake in little cup ). This is Alycia's favorite.
With so much good food, consisting of mainly carbs, I am pretty sure I will be piling up a few pounds. Nah, I am going to enjoy first and worry about the scale later ;)

Breakfast At Les Deux Garcons
Our breakfast at Les Deux Garcons yesterday, just the 4 of us, minus Alycia as she was at her high school to attend an orientation.
We had a big breakfast set, beef meat balls, orange juice, beet root celery juice, almond croissant, coffee and tea.
Flaky and nutty croissant aux amandes (almond croissant) from LDG. Best almond croissant ever!

Cong Sao Star Dessert @ Causeway Bay, Hong Kong
On our 5th night in Hong Kong, after dinner at Pang's Kitchen, the hubs, his cousin from England, our brother in law from Hawaii and I took a bus to Causeway Bay in search of the best desserts in Hong Kong.
His cousin who is pretty familiar with Hong Kong, brought us to Cong Sao, the must-go to place for Hong Kong style desserts.
Cong Sao's desserts center on lots of mangoes, durians, jellies, puddings and 'tong sui' (sweetened soups). This tiny eatery can spawn really long queues that will really test your patience. Well, in Hong Kong, you need patience in order to taste good food. However, come at the right time and you’ll find yourselves sharing a table with the locals, which was what we did. We shared a table with a local couple of husband and wife and chatted with them. The queue outside Cong Sao can be more insane on weekends.
The desserts do NOT come cheap (compared to KL prices)...
Here's what we ordered. You'll notice that almost every food picture taken in our trip in Hong Kong is photo-bombed by a spoon or hand. Everyone seems to be famished during each meal and I have to rely on my speedy gonzales hands skillfully to zoom, aim and snap the best picture (while trying my best not to shake my phone) ASAP before the food gets messed up impatiently in just seconds. It's stressful I tell ya!
My almond paste tong sui with black sesame paste.
This lychee and jelly ice shavings dessert is seriously refreshing and yummy!
We were already stuffed to our nostrils but just had to order this durian dessert in ice-shavings when we noticed that almost patron ordered this item. And the aroma of durian wafting in that tiny eatery, drowned us in the mesmerizing smell. We gave in and ordered this just before we left. We thought our tummies could no longer hold any liquid but we stretched our tummies to the max. Gawd, I felt so so so so full after all these desserts!!
Here are some other star items from Cong Sao. Pictures are taken from other sites.
After our tummy torturing dinner and supper, we roamed the streets of Causeway Bay to speed up our metabolic rate to burn more fat! :D
