Order Your Groceries Online From Happy Fresh

I received a surprise today!

The guard intercomed me this afternoon to inform me that I have a parcel from the courier delivery guy.  I told the guard that I ain't expecting any parcel today but he insisted that I have a parcel. Hmmm, who could the parcel be from?!  I love receiving surprises! :)

Door bell rang...

I opened the door and I saw the delivery guy in bright green  Happy Fresh uniform greeting me with a cheerful smile.  Aha, then I remembered that yesterday I had placed an online order at Happy Fresh but I really did not expect the delivery to be so punctual!  I totally forgot about my order.

Thank you so much Happy Fresh for the RM30 voucher for me to test the Happy Fresh app!  I am very satisfied with the whole experience as well as with the products received.

Downloading the Happy Fresh app into my Samsung mobile phone was a breeze and very fast. I downloaded the app from my desktop computer.  Next, I shopped for my groceries. During checkout, I keyed in  my preferred date and time of delivery and my discount voucher code and received an online order confirmation, as below...

With a complimentary RM30 to spend, thanks to Happy Fresh, I chose 3 items that I needed, which are a bottle of organic soy sauce, pesticide-free tomatoes and dental floss.

The tomatoes were plump and fresh.  The groceries came in a very huge bright green recyclable Happy Fresh bag.  Yes, I am indeed one very happy mummy today as I received my free groceries and those are the things that I had run out and wanted to replenish :D

Happy Fresh is an excellent app for busy parents and singles alike who just cannot find the time to make a trip to the supermarket to get essential items. The range of groceries and toiletries is wide.   And the delivery is punctual.  You can do your shopping anywhere (just find a place with free WiFi if your android phone does not have WiFi) and it won't take you more than 15 minutes, depending on the quantity of items that you want to shop for.   Do give this app a try and I am pretty sure you'll be HAPPY just like I am, with Happy Fresh!

FrogAsia - A one-stop shop for all your educational needs

Hear ye hear ye everyone with primary and secondary school kids in Malaysia's public schools! Your kid(s) may have already told you about this educational website but if they or you have not already known yet, let me introduce you to FrogAsia.

FrogAsia, a YTL company, is the first company in the world to connect an entire nation through a single, cloud-based learning platform. You and your child will not be charged any data costs while accessing Frog on their network, so everyone can enjoy unlimited access to their world of learning anytime, anywhere!
Through the 1BestariNet project, FrogAsia is bringing the future of education to every student, teacher and parent in Malaysia. Combining high-speed 4G internet access, a world class learning platform and access to ‘best-in-class’ resources and technology, Malaysia is the first country in the world to bring its entire education community together on a single converged network designed specifically to meet the needs of teaching and learning.  1BestariNet is a project initiated by the Malaysian Ministry of Education in line with the government’s vision of providing quality, Internet-enabled education for all.  Over 10,000 government schools around the country will be equipped with this awesome solution, bridging the digital divide between rural and urban students.

I first got to know about Frog Asia when Alycia and Sherilyn came home from school one day some time early this year and told me that their teachers had instructed everyone to log into this website. The students were required to explore the website and try out the apps and features at www.frogasia.com.
Your child will first need to register at the FrogAsia website. For Alycia and Sherilyn, they were given a set of log in data by their school (they are in a cluster school).

The website is pretty kids friendly. It is Sherilyn, my drama queen who taught me how to navigate around the website.  And boy was I impressed with what I found in there! Everything that is available at the FrogAcademy is on the left side bar of the Frog Store from resources to documents, books, images, videos, audio, question banks and much more.

Your kids can even gain access to their school text books at the FrogAsia website! So worry not if your kid has forgotten to bring home an important text book for revision. She/he will be able to read the text book by hopping into FrogAsia.

Here is a sample of how the eText book looks like...

Alycia and Sherilyn have added over 50 e-books into their 'My Library' at the FrogAsia website. They can read them on their iPad or lappie during their free time.

This is how the eBook looks like...

They were jumping with excitement when they found Diary of a Wimpy Kid from the Fun Brain app, in eBook form!

Interesting eComics are also accessible for free!

Parents can buy questions for their child to work on from the FrogAcademy at a minimal cost of only a few Ringgit per subject. Since the Question Banks is still at its Beta stage, only Form 4, Form 5 and SPM questions can be purchased at the moment. But very soon, questions for primary students and other levels will be readily available for purchase. You can pay via M2U or credit card. There will soon be sample UPSR questions for purchase as well.

Parents can check their kid(s)' work from the questions that they have bought from the Question Banks and monitor them, as shown below...

Educational videos can be added to your 'My Library' and they are free to view!

Under the Resources category, you can add flash cards, free images, free sounds, Funbrain (my girls love this category) and much more to your 'My Library'.

FrogAsia has a partnership with Google, which means that your child can assess to a buffet of interesting education materials from FrogAsia, which will bring them over to Google Apps to assess the educational materials. So make sure you or your child has a Google Chrome account as well.

FrogAsia is probably one of the best and most comprehensive local educational websites that I have come across. If your child's school has not been introduced to this website yet, you can help your child register now and start letting him/her explore FrogAsia today. This is definitely a must have website bookmarked in all your electronic devices!

Buying Herbs and Spices Online

Cooking wholesome and nutritious food for my kids is now something that I look forward to. Though I do not look forward to the washing, chopping, oil splatters and greasy kitchen tops and floor, the happy and satisfied looks on my kids' faces make all the hard work sweating it out in the kitchen all worth it.

If you have been following my blog, you will know by now that I will only cook dishes that are fast and easy to dish out.  I allocate an hour to a maximum of 2 hours a day in the kitchen to dish out lunch and dinner.  I seldom prepare Chinese dishes as it involves a lot of garlic and onion chopping, as well as frying and braising.  Thank God for my oven, I use it almost everyday to grill meat and to bake wraps or toasts.   My oven is my life savior when I do not have enough time to fire up the wok to fry a fish or braise a chicken.  With an oven, I can easily whip up a very flavorful meat dish without the need for chopping up garlic or onions.  And there is no oil splatter on the floor or on my hands :)

What I find extremely useful in adding flavor to my grilled meat dishes are herbs and spices.  Some of the spices that I use almost daily are ground coriander seeds, dried rosemary, ground cumin, Chinese spices and black pepper.  These spices impart such aromatic flavor to the chicken and fish dish that I do not even need to use any bottled sauces for marinating my meat.  However, it may not be easy to find certain herbs and spices in some of my recipes.  Today I found a website for ordering great herbs and spices online.  This website has such an awesome range of herbs and spices to flavor up your dishes as well as for health supplements. Check out the link above to find out more!

Fresh Frozen Fish Shipped to Consumers' Doors

Families looking for ways to improve their diet should consider adding more frozen fish and other frozen foods from a reputable distributor who will make sure the meats and fish are properly packed and stored on their trip to their consumers.

Ordering fish online or via telephone call to a reputable seller puts consumers in direct contact with a professional with immediate access to fresh fish such as salmon, shrimp, lobster, mussels, clams, oysters, scallops, caviar, fish steaks, whole fish and much more. With a satellite type of service, featuring one main seller and customers will receive their frozen packed fish days and sometimes several weeks sooner than a grocer would. Therefore, this frozen and packed fish is weeks fresher than anything consumers might buy at their local grocery store or fish market.

Consumers looking for fish that comes directly from sustainable fisheries in any particular fish’s native region can find all that with companies that serve to broker this exchange that is favorable for all parties involved.

With all this, consumers know that when they purchase directly from a wholesaler, they are receiving fish that will provide the best amount and quality of vitamins and nutrients that they are seeking. Rich in Omega-3 fatty acids and other vitamins and minerals, fish retains more of its benefits when prepared for shipping as soon as the fishermen bring it to market.

Also, fish fans can simply order their favorite fish and wait for its arrival and scratch one Saturday morning errand off their shopping list.

Room For Rent

When I first came to KL more than 20 years ago to study in a college, my mum sent me to stay in the hostel provided by the college. On the day I arrived in KL and saw the condition of the hostel, I almost wanted to run away! Gosh, it was in a pathetic condition. The bathrooms were filthy and never washed!! Being a clean freak, I volunteered to wash the bathroom. I almost wanted to puke when I scrubbed the toilet bowl and the bathroom floor. I could not sleep at night as students who stayed there were chatting loudly at night and some quarreling the whole night. I enlisted my then boyfriend’s help (now hubby) to find me another place to stay. I wanted to move away from the hostel as soon as possible! After a week, I moved out. My boyfriend found me a place to stay at his classmate’s friend’s house. It was not a choice room to rent. The owner was somebody’s mistress and I could not stand her young son who was a spoilt brat. The landlady was also very money-minded and calculative. Though the house was clean and neat, the bus-stop was located about 15-20 minutes’ walk away from the house. Each day I had to endure fear by walking past a quiet playground and some lonely alleys. Many times, I stumbled upon flashers and perverts during my walk to and fro the bus stop. Again, all these prompted me to hunt for another room to rent. But the mission was not easy as I had many conditions, mainly the price, the location and condition of the house and who the landlord / landlady is. So I stayed in the current place for 6 years and endured many frightful moments before a watershed incident in 1996. As I was walking to the bus stop from my rented room one morning, my handbag was snatched by a motorcyclist. I took it as a sign from God that I should move out as soon as possible.

I then rented a house in a new neighborhood and sub-rented the rooms. The first time I was brought to this neighborhood by my then boyfriend, I fell in love with it instantly. I wanted to live there forever and yes, I am still living in this neighborhood now but we moved out from the rented house and now have our own condo.

Finding a room for rent these days is so easy. We do not have to go to 7-11 shops to check out room to let ads or drive round neighborhoods to find rooms. Websites like ibilik.my – Malaysia’s largest room database is god-sent. You can sieve through rooms for rental at the click of your mouse at the comfort of your own home. If you are looking for a room to rent either for yourself, for your girlfriend or boyfriend, do check out the link provided above.

Enfagrow A+ Learning Toolkit - A Fun And Informative Website For Parents And Kids

Since the commencement of the school holidays, my 2 older kids have been bored to the core. Hubby and I have been extremely tied down with our own business respectively and have not really had the time to bring the kids for outings. The kids have been bugging me with questions on when we are going to their koong koong and granny’s in Ipoh and then to Penang for a short holiday. Alycia and Sherilyn have been two couch potatoes with their eyes glued to the TV since the start of the school holiday on Saturday. I feel bad that I can’t afford much time to spend with them.

Yesterday evening I decided to put aside my work to spend some time with Alycia and Sherilyn. The 3 of us were seated in front of the computer and had a very enjoyable bonding time playing with some educational games at First2Learn. We chose the games for kids 6 years and above. There are also specially designed intellectual games for kids 1-3 years old and 3-6 years old. We had loads of fun playing the ‘spot the difference’ game. I must admit that my 2 older girls are sharper than me and could spot the difference in the pictures at a faster pace than me! I also taught them multiplication through the Math game which was designed to teach kids multiplication in a very interesting way. I haven’t had this much fun with them for a long time!

If you have kids aged between 1-7 years old, you really have to check out Enfagrow A+ Learning Toolkit at First2Learn and try out the games with your kids. There are also daily handy tips for parents, useful articles from experts and also a learning milestone checklist for parents. No registration is required and anyone is free to use the website.

Great Website To Download Free Birthday Cards

Alycia and Sherilyn wanted to make a birthday card for their little aunt's (hubby's cousin) 7th birthday last week. So I googled around for free birthday cards to print and found this website : http://www.greetingsisland.com/Printables/Birthday

They were excited when they saw the colorful cards at the website and they each chose a card to be printed. Once printed, they had a fun time coloring and decorating their cards with nice stickers and ribbons.

You can write whatever text you want in the card and decorate the card with cute stamps / pictures.

Alycia and Sherilyn enjoyed decorating the cards very much. Now I know how to keep them occupied during the school holidays. I'll print cards for all occasions and get them to color and decorate the cards!

Create Your Own e-Greeting Cards FOC!

Remember my earlier post on this cool website for parents? Well I logged in today and found out that I can send e-greeting cards to my friends and family at their website. There is a cool function at the Excellence Begin Young website, the baby milk website on child development, that enables just about anyone to upload their favorite pictures into their system and then choose a matching theme and send the pretty e-card to anyone that they want to. You can create endless number of e-cards and send them to everyone that you know. You can choose from such themes as Christmas, Chinese New Year, Happy Birthday, funny themes and to your mum or dad too.

The e-card feature is very simple to use and anyone can do it, even your 5-year old who can read can create the card. Here are some of the cards that I had fun creating:

A X’mas e-card for my big brother Ray and SIL Marene in Singapore.

And an e-card for my mum.

With this e-card feature that is FREE to use, you can save serious money on your greeting cards from now onwards. Not only that, you also stand a chance to win RM200 shopping vouchers if you send the most e-cards! 5 winners will be chosen each week from 1st December 2009 until 8th February 2010.

Go try and create a few e-cards too and send them to your loved ones and friends today. Or get your kids to create them. I’m sure they will have fun creating the e-cards. This is one great activity to fill up their time this school holidays!

Practising Math And Time Telling the eWay

I recently found a very good website for kids to practise solving Math questions. KidsNumbers.com is a free math resource designed by teachers, specifically for students and children of all ages. It's a place where students can practice all aspects of math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, in a fun and stress free way. Both Alycia and Sherilyn love solving Math equations at this website and can sit in front of the PC for at least an hour solving Math questions. I can even use their free Worksheet Generator to create customized worksheets.

Alycia having fun solving Math questions and brushing up her time-telling / clock reading skill which she is still not perfect yet at KidsNumbers.com.

Cool Website For Parents

I have long been wondering if it is necessary to feed my 3 girls with supplements and vitamins. So I did a google search today, got my answer and also stumbled upon this website by Neslac EXCELLA Gold. This website by Neslac is called Excellence Begins Young (EBY) and is a very useful site for mothers with young kids. One of the sections that I find very useful is the expert’s corner, a place where mums can get answers with regard to their child’s nutrition, development and everyday growing up activities. Another section that mummies would love is the flash cards section. Here, there are colorful flash cards of simple words that come with audio in 2 languages – English and Mandarin in easy to digest and fun method for mums to teach their babies simple categories like shapes, colors, fruits, etc. I tried it on Baby C and she loved them.

For first time mums especially, they will find the Child Development Tracker at the EBY site very useful. This section allows you to see your child’s milestones at the different stages of their growing life. There are also useful tips on how to help nurture your child’s milestone, eg. activate your baby’s mind with nursery rhymes and much more.

For Facebook fans (which I am beginning to get hooked on!), there will be a link for users to go to Excellence Begins Young Facebook Page. Here, there is an application for them to create Fun Photos for their kids. The first 1,000 to create the photo for their child will get the photo printed, framed and delivered to them. I’ve just created Baby C’s photo and will accessories it soon! Wait there’s more. Another interesting Facebook application is a fun quiz called “Is My Child An Abraham Lincoln Or Gandhi?” I tried the quiz on Sherilyn and the results showed that she is emotionally adventurous like Christopher Columbus and an intellectually decisive leader like Abraham Lincoln, LOL!

Other interesting sections at EBY include a section on informative articles (nutrition, child development, etc) and a recipe section with healthy recipes for toddlers. Go check out this website and bookmark it. It’s free to use this site!
