Computer Crashed!

My desktop computer is seriously injured and may need admission. Someone turned off the main switch connecting to my desktop computer last night, thinking that it was the switch for the TV. When I restarted my PC, it was 'hang'. Thank God I have a laptop as back up BUT the BIG problem is that the data of my 800 over customers are saved inside the hard disk of my desktop PC. Now I have a huge pile of new clothes lying in the living room and I cannot send them out without the details of my customers. I am SO SO upset. The computer technician came to fix my PC this morning and it took over 6 hours for the restoring scan to complete BUT bugger, the problem is still not resolved. The computer technician has to come over to my house again to reinstall the Windows software and if this fails, he needs to remove the hard disk to have all the data stored inside transfered into an external hard disk or a thumb drive. And a reformatting of the PC would have to be performed. Sigh.... this is a costly lesson for me and if you have not done a back-up of your data too, do it now before your PC crashes.
Sorry there will be no pix from me for the next few days until my baby is up and about again.

Attacked By Virus

My PC has been attacked by some malicious worms. Since yesterday, I have been unable to access any of my documents saved in Word and Excel. The IT guy who came to fix my PC the other day did not inform me that my anti-virus has an expiry date and the anti-virus software free-trial run had expired recently. Bummer, I have asked him to come and rectify this problem today. Lesson learnt for me – always back up my documents in a flash drive or an external hard disk. I must go and hunt for some Best Buy flash drives and an external hard disk now.

Problem With Streamyx Again

I have been having problem accessing to blogspot blogs since yesterday. As for my own blogspot blog, luckily I can still access it, though it will take ages (10 - 15 mins) to upload the page and I am unable to upload pix at random. For those blogspot blogs that I can access, the page is either blank or I can't see the 'comments' section. I've called up Streamyx and was told that there could be a problem with my pod. They have asked a technician to check my pod and line. I'll see how fast they can come as I told them specifically that I can't afford any downtime, and also exaggerated a bit to make it seem more urgent. I can never place too much hope in Streamyx.

Lightning Bummer

One advertising network was releasing offers one by one at snail's pace when suddenly there were lighting, thunder and a heavy downpour. I had already grabbed a few offers when the lightning became more intense. I couldn't make a decision whether to continue refreshing my screen and wait for more offers to pour in or switch off my modem. Suddenly a strong lightning struck followed by a roaring thunder which caused my screen to vibrate momentarily and my streamyx connection was cut off. My heart was pounding with fear and I quickly switched off my modem, disconnect the wire and took a short power nap. When I switched on my modem again (praying hard that it wasn't struck by lightning), thank God it was still working. Phew, what a heart attack it gave me!

Finally Recovered All My Lost Posts

Yes, I did and I must thank this brilliant lady who is my lucky shining star! How can I not think of recovering my posts from my own Google Reader or some other bloggers' Google Reader? Not only did this wonderful lady help me recover my post and emailed them to me, she even helped me to re-submit the URLs of the rejected posts (that were initially missing) to 3P as I could not log in to 3P the whole of today.

I've now added my own Feed to my Google Reader and from there, I could see all my lost posts. I now have to copy and paste these posts back to my blog and email the advertisers informing them of my problem, together with the new URL of the posts.

The past 1 week was really terrible for me. I've been cracking my head trying to recover my lost posts and had spent so much time in front of the PC till my head now hurts badly and I feel so exhausted.

Now, I have a phobia of loosing my posts. I've created many layers of back-ups and hey, if you hacker want to hack my blog and posts again, you better watch out. There's no way you can bring me down. I've got someone up there watching over me and sending me guardians to help me all the time.

Once again, I want to thank Hui Sia for her help in solving my problem and to Mamabok in offering her kind help to re-write my lost paid posts.

Bad Headache

I'm having a bad headache now. Must be caused by the stress of thinking about all my lost posts from my own domain blog. I just can't believe that this lousy incompetent host, E, did not have a back up of those lost posts. I just feel like giving up on those lost posts and let the advertisers reject my posts and just forget about the money. One nice blogger has offered her help to re-write the posts for me. Maybe I should accept her offer and find a way to repay her kindness rather than get all stressed up thinking about those lost posts.

Unable To Recover Lost Posts

I am really disappointed and dissatisfied with my host. They are unable to recover a single post that were lost from my blog. I have spent the last few days counting how many posts I have lost and so far, more than 30 posts were lost (I think there are more) and most were unapproved and unpaid paid posts. So you go figure how much money I'm going to loose all because this incapable and lousy host did not back up my posts. My head is really throbbing today and each time I discover another paid post that's lost, my head and heart hurt even more. In order to save my money from going down the drain, I think I now have to re-write and re-submit all those posts that were lost, but tell me, where on earth am I going to find the time in such a short time? What the fun.... doing double work and wasting all my time and energy. If someone had hacked my blog, all I can say is 'you wait and see, what comes around goes around'.

If you're looking for a good website that can help you back-up your blog posts for free, check out BlogBackUpOnline.com. Thank God they managed to recover the lost posts from my Blogspot blog. The person handling my case even offered to call me but in the end, we just communicated via Google chat. They are very professional and prompt in handling my case. I'd like to give them a big thumbs up.

Our Sunday

It's a day of non-stop eating for us today. We had Dim Sum at Imbi Palace for lunch. When we got home, my parents from Ipoh arrived. They will be flying off to China tomorrow. My dad bought some famous Ipoh hawkers' food for us and we all ate again. Tonight, we'll be having dinner at the Japanese restaurant at Shangri La Hotel since sil will return to Hong Kong tomorrow.

I didn't do much blogging today. I spent all the time that I have checking all my unapproved posts by 3P and other networks to ensure that the posts are still in my blog. I had asked the host for my own blog to check if they have the lost posts backed up in their system but the hopeless host asked me to check them myself from my Cpanel. It is impossible for a person who is not IT savant to comprehend those IT jargons, codes and language. I get really pissed off with them. Every single request to them has always been tai chied back to me. I just have a feeling I will not be able to recover all my lost posts. My only hope now is that after the computer guy re-installs the IE old version into my PC, my posts will re-appear again.

I still have a few outstanding paid posts and I doubt I will have the time to complete them by tomorrow (the due date) as I'll be going for my Amnio test tomorrow. Moreover, I feel so down and just don't have the mood to write. The ideas just don't seem to flow. Guess I will have to let the tasks expire.

Lost Posts = Lost Payment

I have just received an email from an advertising network. The post that I had published in my blog 25 days ago could not be found and as such, they are unable to make payment to me though they had earlier approved my post. All my posts labeled under this advertising network have vanished from both my blogs, as well as all the posts from another advertising network! I have a few unpaid tasks from these 2 advertising networks. Oh gosh, why is this happening? I'm going to loose a lot of money if my posts cannot be retrieved. I've asked the computer guy to check my PC next week and to reinstall the old IE version back. It could be my blog does not support the new version of IE. Does it sound logical OR does being invaded by malicious virus or being hacked sound more logical? Can someone please help me retrieve my lost posts please, pretty pretty please?

Lost Posts

I discovered that some of the posts from both my blogs have disappeared out of the blue a few days ago. I realized they had vanished when the number of posts in my blogspot blog showed only 900+ when it should be around 1,050. When I checked the posts, they have indeed vanished from my blog. Has anyone experience this before? Could this be my computer has been invaded by some malicious virus? Gosh, this is scary. I really want to recover my lost posts, over 100 of them. Can someone tell me what's wrong?
