New Shoes For The Girls

Alycia was grinning from ear to ear when I gave the nod of approval to her daddy to buy this pair of Puma shoes, which is by far the most 'ladylike' sports shoes that we have spotted after checking out several sports shops. Getting this girl a pair of shoes is a chore and it has never been easy finding her a pair of shoes that she really likes. I can skip the ballet flats or Mary Jane shoes. Nothing fanciful or girlish for her. For someone who is very sporty, she obviously only fancies sports shoes or sneakers. But the ones that we had seen earlier were all too bulky and 'masculine' for her. So when I spotted this pair of Puma shoes from a sports shop at Pavillion, I did not have to think about it too much. Though this pair of shoes cost double the price of my Scholl wedge sandals which I bought on the same day, I who hold the position of Home Minister gave the approval to the hubs to buy it for her haha!  After all, this pair of shoes can be handed over to Sherilyn and hopefully to Cassandra too. That's one of the advantageous of having 3 girls. Clothes, shoes and books can be recycled, thus putting all the expensive clothes and shoes into good use LOL!!

The youngest of the lot was not left out too. I got her this pair of Disney Princess sneaker from Parkson @ Pavillion and she loves it to bits and wore it in the house and was reluctant to remove them.

By the way, rascal #2 was not left out. In our previous shopping trip, I had already bought her a pair of pink clogs/sandals from one of those kiosks in Gardens Mid Valley.  So everyone in the family has  new shoes to strut around now :D

Last Minute Xmas Shopping

We spent our whole afternoon doing last minute Xmas shopping at Pavillion today. Initially we had planned to go to Mid Valley Megamall -- first to the movies and then to complete our Xmas shopping. But when we saw the long queue of cars at all the entrances of Mid Valley Megamall, we made a detour and went to Pavillion. The Xmas décor at Pavillion is really grand and there is a very Chrismassy atmosphere at the mall. We love the Xmas trees that were almost 3 storey high and the humungous reindeers at the concourse area of the shopping mall. The mall was packed with people snapping pictures. Many people were doing last minute Xmas shopping like us. Most of the shops were packed with people though there were no on-going sales.

We stepped into a boutique that specializes in kids’ shoes as I wanted to get a pair of good shoes for Alycia. But there were too many shoppers and there were no sales assistants to help us to check for shoes. I am surprised that many parents are willing to spend over a hundred ringgit for a nice and comfy pair of shoes for their kid. It’s always stressful to shop for clothes and shoes for my girls before major festivals like Xmas or Chinese New Year. That’s when I’ll shop for their shoes from online stores. One brand that’s worth buying is Startrite. They have a wide selection of shoes for babies and children from shoes for pre-walkers to shoes for toddlers, school shoes, non-school shoes, English classic shoes, boots and many more. Here’s an interesting video that I’d like to share with you on how to select shoes for your kids from Startrite. If you have a toddler at home, you really have to check out this video.

Get The Right Shoes For Your Kids

When Alycia was younger and was my only child, being a first-time mum, I was quite clueless when it came to buying the right shoes for her. She started to walk at 10 months old and could walk quite stably at 12 months old. But she used to trip quite a bit when she walked and I thought she was plain clumsy. Some kids are just pretty clumsy and tend to trip / fall a lot. Later, I found out that it was the sandals that made her trip all the time. After I got her a sturdier pair of baby shoes with anti-slip soles, she stopped tripping.

Getting your child a good pair of shoes is very important so that he/she will feel comfortable in them and will not trip easily. Did you know that babies’ feet don’t have bones and are just soft cartilage which can easily be pushed out of shape by badly fitting shoes? Even socks that are too tight can damage their feet at this crucial stage.

Getting your child an ill-fitting pair of shoes can also risk your child’s feet from being severely hurt. I am sure you had heard and read about some kids’ feet being caught in a moving escalator when they wore this particular popular brand of plastic shoes.

Shoes are one of the things that I find very hard to get for my 2 older girls now. When they were younger, I could easily shop for nice and affordable shoes from shoe shops and shopping malls. I find that shoes for girls aged 5 years and above are very limited in choices and they are very costly too. That’s why I have resorted to buying my girls’ shoes from online stores. One very cool online store for baby shoes and kids shoes is startriteshoes.com. They have a wide selection of shoes for babies and children from shoes for pre-walkers to shoes for toddlers, school shoes, non-school shoes, English classic shoes, boots and many more.

There are even handy tips on how to care for your kids’ feet and shoes at startriteshoes.com. If you have a toddler at home, you really have to check out this video here.

New Shoes For The New Year

Last week, we went shopping and bought Alycia and Sherilyn new shoes. Since I love pink, most of my gals' shoes are pink too. It's really difficult to get them pretty and comfy shoes at affordable prices. One brand that the gals have been wearing is Disney. Disney shoes cost between RM50 - RM70 a pair.

These 2 pairs are for Sherilyn - a Pooh Bear sandals for daily wear and a pink shoes for more formal wear.

and this pink Pooh Bear shoes is for Alycia. Wanted to get her another pair of Crocs as I have seen some new designs but when I saw the price, I really think it's not worth it for a pair of plastic shoes that look so casual.

I also got myself 2 pairs of low-heeled sandals as my legs can't stand high heeled sandals
anymore. They are really making the varicose veins on my legs worse.
