When She's Sick, She's Really Sick

Each time Alycia falls sick, she is really sick, so sick that she looks so listless all the time and all she wants to do is just sleep or lie down..... and there is not a smile on her face. Alycia has been like this since Monday and I know this is the side effects of the medicine. Her appetite is so poor that she is drinking and eating more than half lesser than what she can normally eat and drink. Today will be the last day of Alycia and Sherilyn's course of antibiotics and I hope that by tomorrow, they will feel much better, cough lesser and stop vomiting. Sherilyn woke up this morning and cried non-stop for about 15 minutes before she threw up her milk and lots of phlegm. She is normally in a good and jovial mood when she wakes up but for the past 2 days, she has been very moody and crabby, especially when there's phlegm in her throat. Luckily my new temp maid is patient enough to 'thum' (placate and soothe) her, 'gendung' (carry) her, make her laugh and feed her medicine and her meals.

Off To The Clinic Again

Today we brought Alycia and Sherilyn to the paed's clinic again. They are still under the weather and have been coughing a lot, especially Sherilyn. I did not sleep well the whole of last night. Each time Sherilyn coughed, I would get startled, worried that my Miss Pukey will puke as she is very prone to puking when she coughs. She also has lots of phlegm and when she woke up this morning, she puked out some phlegm.

The paed prescribed Alycia with another bottle of Procef antibiotics which she has to take for 2 more days (total of 7 days) as her throat and glands are still a tad swollen. She is still sneezing and coughing. Sherilyn also has to have the antibiotics (Augmentin) extended by another 2 days (total of 7 days) as her throat is still slightly swollen and her cough / phlegm are quite bad.

Feeding of medicine is really time consuming and can take up to an hour for both gals as my maid and I have to feed them the medicine drop by drop followed by a bite of sweet bun / biscuit after every drop of medicine. Even with this, they can still puke. After puking, the whole cycle has to begin again. This is really draining me out....

Alycia's Finally Getting Better

Yes she is... finally! When Alycia woke up this morning, she was still coughing and had lots of phlegm. I made her very little diluted milk and she finished the bottle of milk (6 ounces of milk, instead of the usual 8 ounces). She must be feeling really hungry as she had puked thrice yesterday and went to bed with an empty stomach. Thankfully, she did not puke after drinking milk today. She also managed to eat the whole egg white of a hard boiled egg and a slice of plain chiffon cake for breakfast before eating her medicine. Thankfully, she also did not puke. Today, I can finally see smiles on her face and hear her laugh and play with Sherilyn. She even ordered to have spaghetti for lunch, though I had earlier wanted to cook her some noodles with homemade fish balls. So spaghetti she had for lunch and even asked for more. She also managed to finish a small bowl of watercress chicken soup. She's coughing a lot lesser now and I hope she will be able to go back to pre-school on Monday. She certainly has a long way to catch up with her peers.

Last night, I applied baby Vicks on Alycia's chest, back, neck and soles of her feet before she went to bed. Dont' know if it's coincidental or what but she did cough at all and slept soundly throughout the night.
