When She's Sick, She's Really Sick

Each time Alycia falls sick, she is really sick, so sick that she looks so listless all the time and all she wants to do is just sleep or lie down..... and there is not a smile on her face. Alycia has been like this since Monday and I know this is the side effects of the medicine. Her appetite is so poor that she is drinking and eating more than half lesser than what she can normally eat and drink. Today will be the last day of Alycia and Sherilyn's course of antibiotics and I hope that by tomorrow, they will feel much better, cough lesser and stop vomiting. Sherilyn woke up this morning and cried non-stop for about 15 minutes before she threw up her milk and lots of phlegm. She is normally in a good and jovial mood when she wakes up but for the past 2 days, she has been very moody and crabby, especially when there's phlegm in her throat. Luckily my new temp maid is patient enough to 'thum' (placate and soothe) her, 'gendung' (carry) her, make her laugh and feed her medicine and her meals.

Alycia's Cough - Day 6

Last night, I applied Vicks on Alycia' chest, back, neck and on the soles of her feet and put on socks for her. She didn't cough until about 4am. I gave her some water and she went back to sleep without coughing much. The gals also slept without the air-conditioner turned on.

This morning she puked again when I fed her medicine. The phlegm kept irritating her throat and induced the vomit sensation. I let her rest for a while before feeding her the medicine all over again. Really don't comprehend why Alycia is so weak despite her eating healthily. It really could be due to all the outside food and heaty food that she ate during our short holiday that lowered her immune system. Sherilyn who didn't eat those food is still well, though she did show some symptoms of cough and a runny nose several days ago.

Alycia's Not Getting Any Better

Alycia's cough is not getting any better. The phlegm has increased and keeps irritating her throat till she keeps puking. Daddy brought her to see the paed again today and the dr. prescribed her with more medicine! She is finishing her antibiotics today but because she's not getting any better, the dr. gave her another bottle of antibiotics and she has to eat it for another 2 days. She was also given a new cough syrup and a new syrup for the phlegm.

One of my readers informed me today that Alycia's constant illness could be caused by moulds in the house. She recently found out that her kids' constant illness and her constant cough were caused by allergies - moulds on the mattress, pillows, bolsters and walls. There could be some truth to it as the paed had told me before that Alycia has sensitive throat and nose and is also allergic to 'something in the environment'. Hubby is thinking of buying the latest Sharp air purifier cum air humidifier but it's freaking expensive at RM1,600! I've just checked the pillows that the gals normally sleep on downstairs and have discarded two pillows that have yellow dots (could be mould) on them. Will be going upstairs to check their pillows and bolsters later to have another round of investigation!
