Breakfast For A Recuperating HFM

I have been feeling malaise from the last few days of 2018 right until now.  Thank God things are looking up today and I've gotten back my appetite. Glad that I managed to treat myself yet again with home remedies.

It first started off with just a tingling sensation in my throat after dinner with our friends at a Chinese restaurant, which progressed to lost of voice and then a strep throat, which mutated into a horrendous productive cough which caused me to lose 4 nights of sleep from continuous coughing, then back to having sore throat and then ended with a cold that lasted for just a day.  I was so tempted to drive to the clinic to get some meds but I knew that the doctor would conveniently prescribe me with antibiotics, which would bring on a whole load of nasty after effects, including antibiotic resistance super bugs.

So I soldiered on with just chewing on Indian Borage (Mexican Mint) leaves from my little balcony garden, gulping down packets after packets of Izumio, Super Lutein, Esberitox, raw honey, propolis, essential oils and finally succumbed to buying a bottle of Prospan to stop the cough and Difflam antibacterial lozenges for the sore throat. I also ate pineapple and jackfruit for days as these two fruits are believed to be effective cough remedies. Prospan is the world's no.1 natural chesty cough medicine for adults and children. It contains extracts of Ivy leaves, is sugar-free and does not cause any drowsiness. It tastes mild and not foul-tasting at all.

I don't know which item in particular helped to treat the cough, sore throat and phlegm, but all of the above natural remedies stated above seem to have synergized and produced effective results, though not magically fast but they worked. Once again, I treated myself with home remedies without succumbing to antibiotics!

This was my breakfast on one of my sick days:

Kintry's salted caramel granola, Happy Baby organic kale and spinach rice puffs, organic brazil nuts with a little coffee milk and a spoonful of homemade organic ABC nut butter (almond, brazil nut and cashew) that Sherilyn made.

Are you blinking your eyes to see if you read and saw the correct words and picture? Is that baby food in my bowl? Hell yes! I bought it after tasting my twin baby niece and nephew's snacks when we were in Ipoh last December.  😂😆  I never thought that organic baby snacks these days can be this yummy that even adults would love.  These are quite costly at RM15 for a small tub but  I am willing to pay a little extra for organic and non-GMO snacks packed with healthy ingredients.

New Bib Again

I chilled out at the 100 Yen Shop 2 Sundays ago while the hubs brought Alycia to the hair saloon for a haircut. While browsing through the stuff there, I spotted a stack of plastic bibs with pocket (with cute pictures too!) and it only cost RM4.90. Plastic bibs must be their latest added items. It's rare to find cheap and nice plastic bibs with food tray / pocket. Without any hesitation, I quickly put one in the basket. Was so tempted to get all the colors too haha! Now, Baby has another new plastic bib to add to her collection. And did I tell you that I still have 2 brand new plastic bibs at home?

Heinz Pasta, Heinz Fruit Drink And Yau Char Kuai!

Last week, I went to Babyland to get some stock of Heinz bowled pasta as we will be going to Penang for a holiday soon. These will be really handy for outings and holidays.

Baby only loves bolognaise style or anything that has tomato and mixed herbs but dislikes white sauce pasta. She does not really like milk in her food. She hates cow's milk anyway except fresh human milk :S

I also got this Heinz apple and strawberry puree, which to my surprise Baby loved. I added some water to dilute it though as the puree is quite thick and sweet.

After shopping for baby's stuff, mil requested for Yau Char Kuai, so hubby went to Chow Yang (in SS2) to get the tastiest and 'cleanest' yau char kuai in town. The road side stall is located a few stalls away from Mee Yoke Lim. I could not snap a pic of the stall as there were many cars blocking the stall and the traffic there was quite horrendous.

The gloriously sinful yau char kuai, hum chim peng with red beans filling and khap choong. It's 'clean' coz the oil used to deep fry the flour sticks is fresh and not recycled and 'black'.

Pediasure Liquid

This nice mummy sent me 2 bottles of strawberry-flavored Pediasure liquid which she bought when she was in Singapore recently. She said it was for Baby to try since Baby is currently drinking Pediasure powder. This is currently not available in Malaysia.

I gave some to Baby to try and diluted it with some water as it was a little too sweet but she hated it! It was torturous both for her and me during feeding time. My maid and I had to crack our heads to find things to amuse and distract her while we shoved the spoonfuls of milk into her mouth.

When nothing worked, we brought Alycia's scooter into the house and let her ride on it. That was the best 'distracter' and she finished all her strawberry flavored Pediasure, which was only 2 ounces... and it took us almost an hour to spoon-feed her, looooooooooong sigh!

After that, I didn't want to put Baby and I through another torture chamber session. I gave Alycia the remaining milk, which I had mixed with some chilled Marigold HL fresh milk.

Once again Rachel, thanks very much for the 2 bottles of milk. That was so thoughtful of you to send the milk to Baby C.

Gosh, it's terribly stressful to feed Baby formula each day - 3 times a day. I can't wait for her to grow up so that I can be relieved from this torturous back-breaking, hair-tearing, nerve wrecking, skin-pulling chore!!

Baby C's First Pair Of Shoes

Several days ago, granny bought Baby C her very first pair of shoes, her belated first birthday pressie from granny. We got the shoes from Bata @ Ipoh Tesco. It's a Bubblegummers toddler shoes.... nice and affordable. Toddlers need not wear expensive shoes as they outgrow their shoes really really fast. Both my older gals wore their first few pairs of shoes less than 10 times.

Nice or not? A cute pink pair of shoes with a moo moo stuck on the shoe. Can also emit peep peep sounds when she walks!

Baby trying to walk with her new pair of shoes under watchful eyes and helping hands from mummy and her 2 cheh chehs.

Organix Organic Biscuits For Toddlers

That's one of my sweetiepie's favorite biscuits :

My mil bought a few boxes from Hong Kong recently coz Sherilyn had been bugging her for animal biscuits. Even I like these biscuits as they are sugar-free, made of whole grains and taste good too. This brand of biscuits can be bought from the pharmacy at Jaya Jusco @ Mid Valley Megamall and certain organic shops.

My sweetiepie likes them so much that she would always thrust the whole biscuit into her mouth. She has to be watched really closely when we give her biscuits coz she can go wild and really greedy when she has her favorite food in her hands.

Pureen Baby Biscuits

I got my sweetiepie a box of Pureen baby biscuits from Jaya Jusco the other day. I was a tad skeptical she would like it as my baby is quite selective when it comes to food, particularly anything that is sweet. Thank goodness my sweetiepie loves the baby biscuits. In fact, even my 2 older girls and I like them as they are really crunchy and taste good too.

The Pureen baby biscuits are made in Italy and are enriched with DHA. It cost around RM14+ a box.

I have the most success with biscuits to keep my sweetiepie still on her highchair during mealtimes, though the aftermath is really messssy!

Killing Two Birds With One Stone

That's what I like to do - kill two birds with one stone lol! Instead of merely feeding Baby C her meals, I flash cards to her, show her alphabet and numbers foam, teach her colors and show her cheh cheh's toys like fish, burger, pot, cup, etc, point out to her all her body parts, point out things in the house to her, among others. Babies just love activities when they have their meals, instead of sitting and doing nothing. They will surely get restless within minutes. Baby C is learning well and I'm amazed with her progress, despite the challenges that she has to grapple with.

New Teething Rings For Baby C

These are the 2 new teething rings that I bought for Baby C last week. I chose the colorful rings coz each ring has different texture/pattern and I can also teach her colors with the rings. The rings can be linked to form a long chain, which can be clipped to her stroller, thus will not drop on the floor when she throws it. The second one is a sanitized water filled teething ring, which can be put in the fridge since she likes to chew on cold stuff.

My Tuesday

I couldn't blog for almost the whole of today when my darn monitor konked off. Hubby then brought his spare monitor from his office for me. After fixing the spare monitor, the darn CPU acted strangely and keeps shutting down by itself every 15 minutes. I am speed thinking and typing here to beat the timeline coz very soon, it will auto shut-down again, aarggh.....!!

We made a trip to Baby Loft again today. I quickly fed Sherilyn lunch after she came back from pre-school. This brat has been very, very, very whiny and fussy lately.... drives me bonkers! She cries everyday over the slightest things! Anyway, Alycia came back later as she had Mandarin enrichment class today. So I prepared her lunch in a lunch box and she ate in the car, on our way to Baby Loft, which is quite a distance from where we stay.

This is what we bought from Baby Loft :

I swear by this tea.... it has helped me successfully breastfeed Baby C for 6 months+ and I plan to breastfeed her for as long as I can still produce milkie for my darling!

A bed railing for the gals' new bed in our new condo....

Also bought another Diva Mama breastfeeding spaghetti strap top and new teething rings for Baby C again.... stay tuned to see what I bought Baby C!

Ok, gotta publish this post before it is gone when my darn CPU shuts down again!!

Baby C's New Peg-Perego Stroller

I got a big surprise last night when hubby came home with a new Peg-Perego stroller for Baby C. I was a tad disappointed coz it wasn't a jogging stroller, but still it was way better than our exsiting beat-up stroller, which is almost 4 years old. The Peg-Perego stroller has many functions, which I have to spend some time to read up the manual to study the functions and to find out where the buttons are. What I like about this stroller is that the baby can be placed facing 2 directions, facing me and vice-versa.

The stroller comes with a mozzie net. Sherilyn as usual, curious as she could be, climbed on the stroller whilst daddy zipped up the mozzie net. However, her legs were too long for the stroller and the mozzie net and almost ripped the net apart!

This morning Baby C woke up very early and I brought her jogging along with me. I didn't use the new stroller coz too sayang to use the brand new and sparkling clean stroller.

The new Peg-Perego stroller cost RM1,700 but hubby bought it at around RM1,400 after a discount. Hubby asked about the jogging stroller and did not buy it when he found out that it cost a whopping RM3,000+!

I intend to sell this Peg-Perego at half price or lesser in 3-4 years' time. Till then, I shall blog about the sale of this stroller in my blog :)

Baby C 'Eats' Her Fruits

If you have a baby, it's really a good idea that you buy a food feeder to feed your baby food and fruits, to prevent choking. Read how Baby C ate her apple from a food feeder at my other blog.

I Am Paranoid Of Trimming My Baby’s Nails

Can you beat it that up until today, I still have beads of cold sweat dripping down my forehead whenever I trim my kids’ finger and toe nails, especially Baby C’s tiny fingers? I am paranoid of accidentally cutting their delicate skin as well. I used to delegate this ‘chore’ to the hubs but lately he’s been really busy, so I had to take on the ‘chore’ myself. Perhaps I should get myself a pair of Rubis Baby Safety Scissors that are designed specifically to take care of baby’s tender fingers and toes. It’s time I rid myself of this phobia.

Anti-Fungus, Anti-Bacteria And Non-Toxic Pillow For Kids

Do you know how many of Sherilyn's pillows I have thrown away over the past 1 year? I think I have thrown more than 5 away! If you follow my blog, I'd written that Miss Pukey Sherilyn always pukes at night. There was a period of time where she would puke at night and mess up the bed at 12 midnight at least once a week. Her puking episodes are lesser now but not entire gone. I'd just thrown her pillow away 2 weeks ago when she puked on it at night.

Last week, hubby bought Aly and Sher a new pillow each from Jaya Jusco. The pillow is supposedly anti-fungus, anti-bacteria and non-toxic. It cost RM37.90 each, which I find very costly for a kid's pillow. Had I followed him to shop for the pillow, I'd have chosen one which cost under RM10 coz the pillow will surely end up in the bin soon. Now, I have to wrap Sher's pillow with a plastic changing mat before putting the pillow case over, otherwise, if she pukes on it, sure habis coz latex pillows are not washable and cannot be put under the sun.

What pillows do you kids sleep on?

My New Cloth Diapers Have Arrived

Yay, the cloth diapers (CD) that I ordered from babysashanmom.com have just arrived. Hubby paid by cash via online payment yesterday and I was actually quite worried that they might get lost in transit. The initial investment is really quite hefty, around RM85 each but I think we will save loads in the long run. Will take pix of the CDs tonight and post them in my blogs soon.

Cloth Diaper

After hearing all the positive reviews and comments on the cloth diaper, which is fast gaining popularity now, I finally bought a cloth diaper by BumWear from The Baby Loft shop at RM59.90 each on Sunday. I only bought 1 piece as I wanted to try out to see for myself if it's that effective and practical. I have also asked Montessorimum to reserve 2 second-hand cloth diapers for me. Hopefully it's really effective coz Baby C is now using between 8-10 diapers a day! Go calculate to see how much I spend on diapers for 3 kids a month.

New Baby Monitor

I have been wanting to buy a new baby monitor to place in the kids' room at night so that I can monitor and hear Sherilyn when she cries and pukes. Hubby finally got a new Chicco baby monitor 2 weeks ago.

A few nights ago, I left Baby C alone in the room upstairs for a few minutes. Before I went downstairs, I turned on the baby monitor. When my CL went into the room, she fed Baby C with formula milk. When I went upstairs, I asked her why she fed the baby with formula and she lied to me that the baby was crying. I then told her that I did not hear the baby's cries donwstairs as the monitor was turned on. She was really taken aback and asked me what the gadget was and I told her it's a monitor to trace baby's cries. She was shocked and did not say a word.

My instruction to her was that I will breastfeed Baby C before going to bed and that she is to bring Baby C to me throughout the night for nursing when she cries. But that lady wanted to have a good night's sleep and fed Baby C with formula. What a pain in the neck that lady brings me everyday!

Sweet Cherry Jogger

I was shopping for baby stuff with Sherilyn at Jaya Jusco on Friday when we passed by the department that displays strollers and prams. When Sherilyn saw the Sweet Cherry jogger that I wanted to buy, she immediately climbed onto it and refused to get down.

Sherilyn has not been pushed on a stroller for more than a year and she really misses her rides on one. I used to strap her onto her pram occasionally when I went running in the morning. She also misses being treated like a baby.
I plan to get a jogger soon so that I can resume my daily running sessions 2 months post-delivery (for c-section delivery, it's best to rest the womb and wound for 2 months). However, hubby is not too keen that I go running with his precious baby strapped in a jogger for fear of the baby being snatched. Well, it's either he gets me a jogger or a threadmill - I'll ask which he prefers! I really need to get back into shape and feel fit and healthy again.

Sweet Cherry Jogger

I saw this jogger at Jaya Jusco, Mid Valley last week and wanted to purchase it immediately so that I can start my daily jogging regimen again after delivering my 3rd baby. The price is RM400+ and there is now a 20% discount. I now have 2 old strollers at home and I used to put Alycia and Sherilyn in the stroller to go jogging with me in the morning whenever they woke up early together with me. However, pushing a 15kg+ toddler (then) on a stroller while jogging is a big feat and completing 30 mins of running whilst pushing a toddler is considered no mean feat. Running uphill pushing a toddler in a stroller would send me huffing and panting. The next day, my hands would ache. A stroller is only for strolls and its wheels are not designed to be made running on the road, uphill and downhill.

I had wanted to get a good jogger (McLaren or Prego) but the price tag made my jaw dropped (between RM1k - RM6K). If I were having my 1st child, I can still consider getting a branded jogger. Since this baby will be my last child, I want to get something that's cheap.

Has anyone used the Sweet Cherry jogger before? Is it good? Can the wheels survive all the running on the rough tar road, uphill and downhill?

I Just Can't Resist Buying Cute Baby Clothes

Though I still have bags and bags of old baby clothes previously worn by Alycia and Sherilyn, I know I will surely not be able to resist buying cute baby clothes for my upcoming baby girl. Each time I see cute baby clothes on display when I go shopping, I am really tempted to buy them. Though it’s a tad too soon to shop for my baby clothes now as I have 19 more weeks to go before the big day, but I have nonetheless started to window shop for cute and pink (that’s my favorite color) baby clothes for my baby. I’ve seen some funky onesies and cool toddler tees at uncommonlycute.com, an online store that specializes in a huge selection of funky baby clothes. Now with online baby stores like this, I will surely end up buying a cupboard filled with cute baby clothes.
