Haru's Sibling

This is Haru's sibling, born from a different litter about a year after Haru was born. I think she's a female. She looks very much like Haru and has a very pretty face.

Haru's sibling now loiters outside hubby's shop. Hubby told me that an office staff next door feeds this cat. She really needs a forever home to avoid a premature death from being mauled by stray dogs, flattened by a vehicle, or swallowed up by phyton snakes.  Haru's baby siblings from another litter were all swallowed up by a phyton snake last year.

This little kitty is very 'manja' towards me. Every time she heard me calling her, she would run towards me, and follow me around, as if begging me to bring her home. She always followed me back to my car and would try to jump inside.  I'm so tempted to bring this cutie home. My heart hurts to see such an adorable and friendly cat living on the streets, begging for love and pets.

Update On The Stray Baby Kittens

I've been checking on the baby kittens every other day while hubs feeds the mother cat everyday.  Last week mommy cat freaked out when hubs and his staff were moving some tables and chairs. The loud sounds and movement of heavy objects must have scared her and she transferred her babies to another hiding place, a hardware shop just two doors away.  But she's now quite comfortable seeing us and would not run away whenever she sees us.  She even allows me to go near her babies, though I try hard to resist stroking the cute fluff balls lest mommy cat thinks I'm going to take her babies away.

And guess what? Hubs' heart was so moved by the kittens that he is going to adopt one BUT the kitten will be placed in his office.  He bought a cat carrier last Sunday, all ready to bring the kitten to the vet for vaccination! I'm not sure how he's going to do it as we have zilch experience with cats and kittens. And how are we going to take the kitten away when mommy cat is always around? She's going to get very upset and hostile if she saw us taking her baby away.  A cat lover friend of ours will be going to the shop tomorrow with a cat litter to litter train the cats.  The hardware shop owner is cat lover and he previously adopted a stray kitten when the mother cat gave birth outside his shop.

Today I finally got a better glimpse of the kittens and I'm so glad that all 6 babies are still alive.  Get ready for some heart melting photos of the adorable kittens with stormy blue eyes!  And if you're looking to adopt these kitties, do drop me a comment.  As advised by friends, we will not separate the kittens from their mother for at least 8 weeks.  I think it will be another 4-5 weeks before the kittens are ready for adoption.

MCO Day 220 ~ Friday, 15 January 2021 (Kittens For Adoption)

A mother cat gave birth to a litter of 6 super cute kitties right outside hubby's office recently. Hubs and I are not exactly cat lovers but we will not turn these cute little fluff balls away if they were left at our door step.  Hubs and I have been trying to get cat lovers to take these kitties to their forever homes.

Yesterday I took Cass to her dad's office to get our dose of pet therapy.  I bought a packet of tuna cat food for mummy cat. For the first time, Cass got a taste of handling these fragile kitties. We don't know how old they are, though. According to hubs, they're about 1-2 weeks old.  One day, hubs discovered faint cries under an industrial stove outside his office and he was shocked to see a litter of baby cats.   He dared not touch the kitties for fear that the mother cat would attack him. He thought there were 4 of them but yesterday we discovered 6!

What a heartwarming sight when the industrial stove was pushed aside:

Hubs placed the kittens in an unused tray.

Waiting for their mom to come back to feed them. They were so weak that I could hardly hear their cries.

Love at first sight ~ my favorite kitty.

This orange kitty reminds me of Simba from the Lion King.

If anyone of you would like to adopt these kittens, please email me at shireenyong@gmail.com or Whatsapp me at 019-2627 887.  We're located at Old Klang Road, KL.

Pet Therapy

Saturdays are pet therapy days for us.  Cass and I will segued into the pet shop right after piano class and this has been going on for almost 5 years already! And we look forward so much to checking out if there're any new dogs, especially Samoyed, our favorite breed of dog.  Last Saturday, we saw a 'new arrival' and it's an adorable and fluffy black and white Border Collie! We fell in love with it instantly 💗

Next to the Border Collie was a breed of dog that we've never seen before and I was gobsmacked when I saw the RM12,800 price tag of the Russian Caucasian Mountain Dog!!! According to the pet shop staff, this is a very, very huge dog and it can grow into a gigantic dog.  This breed of dog is usually purchased by farm owners as guard dogs.

I couldn't get a close up picture of this dog and what you see here is only a 3-month old pup and it's already this big.  When it's a fully grown dog, it can be double the size of an adult, as shown in the pictures below:

As I was admiring the Border Collie and Russian Caucasian dog, Cass went to the back of the pet shop cum pet hotel to check out the dog boarding section and saw a Shih Tzu that would smile at her! She pulled me to the Shih Tzu and as I whipped out my phone camera, the little fluff ball let out a wide grin that exposed her teeth and tongue. Oh. My. Gawd.  I melted!!

Each time I whipped out my phone camera, the Shih Tzu smiled and wagged its tail. I think it's been trained by its owner to smile at the phone camera.

As long as we live in a condo, it'd be difficult for us to keep a dog as it's against the House Rules of the condo. The only way we can get our dose of pet therapy is to visit the pet shop and watch videos of cute pets and dogs 😆  I find these videos really uplifting, mood-boosting and lead to greater resilience to stress and bad days.

Pet Therapy

Last week, we discovered that one of the residents at our condo rears cats in their unit. Not one, not two but four!

It all happened one pre-dawn school day last week. As we were leaving our unit, I looked up to my right and saw some sparkly eyes glistening in the dark.  I was pleasantly surprised to see a cat sitting on an outdoor air-conditioner unit; it was actually perching precariously at the edge of the air-conditioner unit, soaking in the pre-dawn peace I guess. Just like me, I enjoy my pre-dawn exercise.  I love the absolute peace and stillness of the dark while I feel the adrenaline rush in my body.  In the subsequent mornings, Cass and I discovered that there were 4 cats sitting there, enjoying the view from the 7th floor, every single morning. How adorable!

From that morning onwards, Cass and I would never fail to wave to the cats when we leave the house. It is quite a sight to behold for animal lovers like Cass and me each morning.

Today Cass and I got a full dose of of pet therapy. After piano class, we segued into the pet shop next door. We were tickled pink to see three new puppies at the pet shop -- two  Corgi and a Samoyed.  The 3 fluff balls are so so adorable! I can feel my stress and worries melt away just by looking at these fluff balls with a RM8,500 price tag!

We also noticed that the pet shop owner has recently opened a pet cafe just above the pet shop.  Cass and I couldn't wait to check out the pet cafe and zoomed upstairs right away.

We weren't surprised to see the usual Giant Alaskan Malamut at the pet cafe. It belongs to the pet shop owner. It used to be caged up at the pet shop. Now it has a larger space to roam about but it has to be diapered for hygiene purposes.  Cass was pleased as punch to see her favorite Corgi at the pet cafe and went straight to pat it.  The dogs are extremely docile and do not bark or bite.

Cass has since been bugging me to have dinner at this pet cafe and I think it won't be long before we dine there.  Hopefully there will be more dogs at this cafe the next time we are there. I get very happy when I am surrounded by dogs 😁

Samo Is Sold

The little Samoyed pup is finally sold, after 9  months. Samo was sold 3 weeks ago at age 10 months old.  😭

After piano lesson on that Saturday, we strolled next door to the pet shop. We could not see the white fluffy Samoyed that we named Samo anywhere in the cubicles, waiting for Cass to visit her. We went inside the pet shop and asked the assistants if the white Samo was sold and to our greatest disappointment, we heard the word "YES, Xiao Pai is sold!"  For a moment, Cass almost teared, and so did I.  😢  The pet shop girls had named her Xiao Pai.

We then learned that Samo was sold to a pet cafe in Kepong at a whopping price of RM8,300! When Cass heard that Samo can still be traced, she asked if we could bring her to the pet cafe in Kepong. But it's way too far for us baby girl.   In the car on our ride home, Cass persuaded me to bring her to visit Samo on her birthday.

The next Saturdays that followed, we saw new cute little pups in the pet shop but none of them tugged at our heartstrings the way Samo did. Cass has nothing much to look forward to after piano class on Saturdays now. We now hope that the owner of the pet shop will import another Samoyed. Well, maybe this time we will buy the Samoyed... but until and unless we move to a landed property. Slim chance for now...

Good-bye Samo. May you be loved and showered with lots of hugs and love everyday at your new home.

Dreaming Of A Pet Dog

A new pet shop has just opened its doors at our neighborhood, right next to the music center that Cass goes to.  I didn't even notice the pet shop until Cass shouted out excitedly to me that she saw our favorite dog, a Siberian Husky puppy in the pet shop!

We were so excited! After piano lesson on Saturday, we checked out the puppies at the pet shop. Each and every puppy costs a whopping RM6,800!!!

Our favorites were the Husky and a Hush Puppy. IF ONLY we have a plot of land next to our house and IF ONLY we had the moolah, I am so going to get us a puppy!  A Golden Retriever, Labrador, Husky or a Beagle. We once had a Beagle named Happy but had to give it up for adoption when we could not find the time to shower it with the love and care it needed.  Alycia and Sherilyn were both under 2 years old then.

One day, just one day, we'll own a dog. Cass has always promised me that when she grows up and gets a job, she'll buy me a bungalow and get us a dog! LOL!  Let's see if her wish will materialize.

Another Dead Nemo

Less than 1 month after hubby had bought some additional fish for our pond, most of the new nemo did not survive at their new home. Yesterday, another nemo died. Now, there are only about 7-8 surviving nemos in the pond, from 20 over of them.

Poor nemo floating in the water on the left :(

Our Pet Fish

This is our little fish pond. We used to have 20+ little nemos but they didn't make it in the little pond, maybe they were fighting for oxygen and food, I don't know. When DH just bought them, they just died, one by one.... everyday the gals would rush out to the garden to see if they could see any little nemos float in the water and if there was, Alycia would fish it out for kakak to bury it. Finally after weeks, only 4 nemos survived. But the number 4 is not auspicious mah, sei sei sang. So a couple of days ago, DH bought a few more nemos.

Happy Our Beagle

We used to have a pedigree Beagle dog. But we were only capable of keeping it for 1 year. Happy was a result of DH's impulse purchase and he (Happy) cost a whopping RM2k. Though my gals and I are avid dog lovers, we just couldn't keep Happy..... happy, how ironic. Because I had had my hands full with my 2 gals and hardly ever have any time for myself, we had neglected poor Happy. He was always kept in his enclosure in our wet kitchen. As a result, I think Happy suffered dog depression and kept falling sick. Consequently, DH spent an average of RM300 - RM500 pm on his food, medical bills and vet / hotel bills (Happy would be placed at the vet whenever we went back to Ipoh). I then pursuaded DH to find someone who loves dogs to adopt Happy. Very reluctantly, DH spread word around and in the end, our vet found a lady who adopted Happy. Every time when my gals and I see a Beagle on the street or on TV, they would excitedly scream "look mummy, Happy boy". Every now and then I will think of Happy and do miss Happy, but what to do, for Happy's happiness, we had to release him to someone who can shower him with more time and love, sob sob : (
