Hong Kong 2015 Pictures - Day 2 (7 December 2015)

On our 2nd day in Hong Kong on 7 Dec 2015, Alycia and Sherilyn followed their daddy, cousin Lucas, aunt and uncles to Stanley Peak for a very challenging hike. It took them the entire morning to get up to the peak and then down. The tracks and steps were pretty steep and treacherous. The scenery from the peak was breathtaking, as can be seen from the pix below as well as  from the previous post.

While half of the entourage went hiking, Cass and I and some of my SILs and MIL took a bus to Time Square for shopping. Then had Japanese food at Sushi Hero.

We had these...

Hong Kong Trip (6-13 December 2015) - Day 1 and 2

Pictures taken in Hong Kong the past few days, from 6 December 2015...

Day 1 - at our condo lift, all excited!  See the boxes of Izumio the hubs is carrying? Yup I lugged my most trusted Izumio to Hong Kong. I won't go anywhere without my Izumio :)

There was a huge drama at the KLIA airport and I got 3 heart attacks!

I thought Cass had another UTI attack as she had a major tummy ache, almost puked and eventually had an explosive poop out session, not once but twice, big thanks to the enema that I gave her in the morning.

Then I got stuck at the passport and thumb scanner area for 20  minutes when Cass had another wave of tummy ache and Alycia had to bring her to the loo to poo!

Thank God she completely emptied her bowels and went up the plane with a very comfy tummy and we had an uneventful flight to Hong Kong.

Upon arrival at Hong Kong airport...

Our breakkie in Emperor Hotel, a typical Hongkie style breakfast. Simple and nonetheless delish.  The hotel serves almost the same dishes every morning.

After breakfast, our daily routine is to walk up to my SIL's apartment, which is located uphill. We walk a fair bit in Hong Kong, which is good exercise for everyone. The weather is cooling and we don't feel tired easily.

The bus stop is right outside my sil's apartment and we take a mini bus to the city center almost daily.

On day 2, the kids went to Stanley Peak for  a very challenging hike while Cass, I and other SILs went shopping and Japanese lunch at Sushi Hero.

Our Thursday - 3 December 2015

3 more days before our trip to Hong Kong, I left the house early in the morning with Cass to buy onions.  Onions are one of the items 'ordered' from the mil in Hong Kong.

Below- Cass did a good job helping me to select onions...

Then Cass and I had breakfast of 'pan meen' at our favorite coffee shop and  packed a bag of  kon loh pan meen for the 2 lazy bumps still lazing in their beds.

Next up, I brought the girls to Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens Mall to shop for X'mas pressies.

I spent 30 frigging minutes making hundreds of rounds at the carpark at Mid Valley Megamall but luck was not on our side. We could not find a darn space to park. Finally after 30 minutes, I gave up. I  parked my car at the side of  the busy basement while my brave Sherilyn dashed into the mall to pay for my car park ticket.  Then I braved the horrendous traffic jam to get to the Gardens Mall premium car park.  Thank God, after 15 minutes we spotted a lady leaving and I finally got a parking space after 45 super frigging minutes wasting my time and petrol doing a wild goose chase. My bladder was on the verge of bursting and gawd it bloody hurt too. When we reached the mall, we dashed to the toilet to release... phew!

We spent over 5 hours walking up and down both the malls, lugging with us bags and bags of heavy presents!  Our loot consists of gifts for only half the list of people.  Our Xmas shopping will continue when we return from Hong Kong.

Above: after 4 hours of shopping, we had a late lunch at  DubuYo, a halal Korean restaurant.

Again, it's no surprise that despite walking for over 5 hours, I wasn't tired a wee bit. It's funny how one  never gets tired when one indulges in the activity that one loves most. Shopping is truly the number 1 therapy for yours truly!! :D

Izumio & Super Lutein - Asthma and overall immunity

My mum developed asthma at the ripe old age of 60+ after visiting China a few years ago. The winter weather was very cold and her lungs were infected by the chilly weather. It took her a long time to recover and she then developed asthma.  The lung specialist that she's seeing advised my mum not to travel during the cold season because each time she did in the past, she came back with respiratory infections.

My mum travels overseas several times in a year. Each time she traveled, she would fall sick with cough. Everyone would worry for her each time she traveled overseas.

My mum started taking Izumio and SL about 2 mths ago. Recently she went to China again. She was surprised that this time, she did not fall sick!  She was surprised that climbing down the 1,686 slippery steep steps at Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon for an hour wasn't any problem at her age (69)!

Below is my 69YO+ mum during her recent trip to Zhangjiajie. Notice how glowing her skin is and the eternal beauty and youthfulness in her :)

Below - My dear parents in freezing weather in China recently. Thank God my mum did not have any wheezing attack!

My 'fragile' mum climbed these in China recently and thank God she survived them all, with the help of Izumio and Super Lutein which gave her the much needed boost in her health and immunity.  I say fragile coz she was once really weak and had pains, aches and issues from head to toe :(

My brother who followed her to China had flu at that time. My mum gave him SL and he got well when he was in China!  My brother who was recuperating then wasn't tired at all throughout the strenuous activities up the 3 different mountains in China.  Thank God for all these blessings!  My mum now has better confidence in the products.

Our Wednesday - 2 December 2015

Our lunch yesterday was at a new Chinese restaurant at our neighborhood.  Food was mediocre and laced with MSG, my no. 1 bane when eating out!  After lunch, all of us felt a funny, bitter and tingling sensation in our mouths and we were all dying to gulp down water!

The sweet and sour chicken with strawberies dish was almost in luminous red! Gawd, I wonder what kind of food additives they added into the dish to make the color so bright!!

The prawns were really springy. Hubby commented that these  prawns may be soaked in chemical solution to make them springy for industrial use. OMG! Horror!

We ordered spinach but the waiter kept sending us lettuce and got the cheek to tell us that we ordered lettuce. We never order lettuce when eating out.  Finally, we got so pissed with the waiter and cancelled the veggie dish and told him to bring the plate of lettuce back into the kitchen.

We will never patronize this restaurant again. I think I can dish out a better meal hah! :D  Yes, I kid you not, I am capable of doing it if I put my heart into it.

After lunch, we made a quick trip to NSK to get some groceries, then rushed home for Alycia's guitar lesson.

After guitar class, the girls had a video call session with their twin cousins from Auckland via Messenger on Alycia's iPod. They have been planning a surprise presentation for grandma's 70th birthday celebration in Hong Kong next week.

Chicken Stew And Garlic Parsley Butter Toasties

Dinner yesterday was a huge success as my celebrity chef wannabe and I whipped up two  exciting items for the first time and they were SO delish!  We had a great time bonding in the kitchen.  If you like cooking and have a son or daughter who also likes cooking, the kitchen is the best place to foster closer relationship :)

Above:
1. Chicken stew with carrots, tomatoes, purple potatoes, big onions, garlic, Edamame beans, rosemary, parsley.

2. Homemade garlic parsley butter spread with wholemeal toasties. My 10YO celebrity chef wannabe made this herself

3. Sauteed organic spinach with garlic and onions

Directions for chicken stew
1.  Slit chicken drumsticks with vertical lines and marinate with soy sauce, abalone sauce, sesame seed oil, cracked black pepper, ground coriander powder and palm sugar syrup. Pour contents into ziplock bag and keep in fridge for several hours.
2.  Saute chopped garlic, onions and fresh rosemary. Then brown the chicken drumsticks. That will take about 15-20 minutes.
3.  Add in the chopped carrots, potatoes, tomatoes and whatever veggies you fancy.
4.  Pour all the marinate sauces from the ziplock bag and add water into the wok / crockpot / claypot and simmer.
5.  I used a stainless steel wok and simmered the stew on medium to high heat for about 1.5 hours.
6.  Finally add in the Edamame beans (removed from pod) and chopped parsley.
7.  Test taste the sauce.  Add more seasoning / water accordingly.

Below: I like mine without the chicken. After indulging in meat  over the weekend, I am going easy on meat this week.

While I was busy cooking the chicken stew, my celebrity chef wannabe prepared this garlic parsley butter at her own initiative.  She's been bugging me for months to whip this up.  With the help of her side-kick - Cass, who helped to peel the garlic, Sherilyn chopped the garlic and parsley. Then mixed them with butter, avocado oil and some sea salt.   Sherilyn did all the recipe googling herself. I did not help her at all with this, except for heating up the toaster oven.

When the wholemeal bread with the garlic butter were toasting in the oven, the aroma wafting from the kitchen inundated the entire house.  For a moment, our house smelled like some sizzling hot intriguing cafe and bakery. I didn't want to turn off the toaster as I was feeling high from inhaling the resonant aroma of the garlic butter on toast :D   The aroma does have a calming effect on one's soul.

The garlic butter would pair better with some artisan bread but we only had Gardenia wholemeal bread in the kitchen, so my innovative celebrity chef wannabe cut the square bread into four parts and spread the garlic butter generously over each slice. That was by far the yummiest garlic butter toasties I have ever tasted! The petite toasties were crispy and deliciously flavoursome. So garlicky, buttery and crispy. I should name Sherilyn's creation Petit Aglio Toastie :D

Above - garlic parsley butter with avocado oil and sea salt, spread on wholemeal squares and toasted.  So yummy and healthy!

We will definitely be making more garlic parsley butter.  Next time, I'll pulse the garlic and parsley briefly in the blender to make things easier.

And the chicken stew recipe is definitely a keeper. It's really easy to dish this up. You can cook extra portions and freeze them for dinners on busy week days.

Our Tuesday Morning - 1 December 2015

This morning, I brought the girls to the hubby's shop to get some extra food that he and his staff cooked.

The girls 'ordered' sandwiches from the kitchen staff :D

And brought home some sinfully delish Nyonya kuih-muih, fried vermicelli, curry puffs, spinach quiche and nasi lemak.

If you need food catered to your office or residence, just give my foodie hubby, Alan a call at 019 266 4297 ;)

He now owes me a bigger X'mas pressie for helping him advertise :D

So breakkie and lunch are now settled. I can now chillax and spend more time on the computer to rush off some work.

Dinner menu will be:
1.  Stewed chicken and veggies (my first time trying out this dish)
2.  Grilled chicky drumsticks (just in case the girls don't like my stewed chicken)
3.  Stir-fried organic spinach

Happy Tuesday world! :)
