Baby C Puked On My Bed Again... Aargh!

Baby C has been REALLY fussy and cranky today. First, she's got a low grade fever resulting from the Pneumococcal jab taken yesterday. Second, her tummy must have felt bloated and uncomfortable as she wasn't able to poo poo fully today. Since birth, she poos big time at least 3-5 times a day but today, she only managed to poo a fist full of poop late in the evening. She's been whining the whole day but luckily, she napped for an hour in the afternoon, so I managed to hurriedly complete 2 assignments when she napped.

When I nursed her before she went to bed at around 10pm, she fussed a little. Whenever she fusses during nursing time, I know she feels uncomfortable. I quickly pulled her away from my teats and as I was about to bring her to the foot of the bed to burb her, she puked big time all over my bed again! I quickly yelled out to Alycia who was already in her bed in the adjoining room (but not asleep yet) to call kakak up to help me. My little keen helper took the opportunity and excuse to go downstairs to call kakak, just so she could avoid going to sleep. See how hyper this brat is. I thought she would be sleepy and tired as she had only taken a short nap in the afternoon and also attended ballet class. When she came back from ballet class at around 8:30pm, she was still bursting with energy..... and had another round of dinner!

My Obsession With Plastic Bibs

I added 1 more plastic bib to Alycia and Sher's collection of plastic bibs. I was at Mothercare on Monday and when I saw the new arrivals, I bought one more - a red ladybug bib, which cost RM22.

This blue bib, also from Mothercare is not even used yet and I bought another. I also nearly bought a Combi bib from Mothercare but on second thoughts, dropped the idea as it cost a whopping RM49! I would have bought it without batting my eyelids if I were still employed. Times are tough and I have 3 kids now.... must always remember my frugal living plan!

Super Fussy And Cranky Baby C

And that's because she's a tad feverish, resulting from the Pneumococcal jab that was given to her last night. Baby C's body started to feel hot at midnight and I sponged her body twice throughout the night. She's super fussy and cranky the whole of today and wants to latch on and be carried all the time. Poor baby, I hope she gets better later.

Teach Your Baby To Read

Last week, I dug out some VCDs on 'Your Baby Can Read' by Prof Dr Robert Titzer, which I bought for Sherilyn when she was around 1 year old. Sherilyn was very interested in the VCDs when she was younger and I would put on the VCD during dinner every single day, coz that's the only time my 2 rascals would sit still and watch the VCD. I completed the 5 series in half a year and after that, both Alycia and Sherilyn lost interest in the VCDs. But Sherilyn could recognize a few words during the time when I showed her the VCDs. I remember she would nod her head when she saw the word 'yes' or shook her head when she saw the word 'no'.

I placed Baby C on the mattress and her eyes were fixated at the TV. Sherilyn also joined in and it was like a refresher course for her.

See how intent Sher and Baby C were watching the VCD. Hopefully they will be able to recognize some words upon completion of watching the entire series.

This is the Starter Video and I am showing it to Baby C now.

A Stressful Night

On Saturday night last week, Baby C puked on my bed after I had nursed her. As it was 4:30am, I did not wake my maid up to ask her to help me. I also did not bother hubby as he has been working late and lacked sleep lately. So I cleaned up the big mess myself.

My mattress with 3 pieces of plastic mats on top, to prevent wee and vomit from seeping into it.

The pile of sheets and clothes that were soaked with vomit, outside my bedroom. I wrote a note to my maid so that she could wash off the vomit and soak them before putting them into the washing machine when she wakes up.

Precious Wee Wee

I spent half the day collecting Baby C's urine today.... 2 bottles, which took me almost 4 hours! I am totally frazzled now.

Pork Ribs Soup With Soya Beans

My mil cooked this simple soup for lunch the other day - pork ribs with soya beans.
She then blanched some vegetables and 'hor fun' or 'koay teow' and threw in some Hakka pork balls into the soup.

While my mil and the gals ate the hor fun with the soup, I just ate the pork ribs, pork balls, soya beans and lots of vegetables, minus the hor fun. It's a high protein, high fibre, high calcium and low carb meal, just perfect for dieters.

The smooth 'hor fun' bought all the way from Ipoh by hubby's aunt.

Disposable Toilet Seat Covers

My mil bought 2 packets of disposable toilet seat covers from Caring Pharmacy the other day... which is just the thing that I have been searching around for a long time. With this, I don't have to line the public toilet seat with heaps of toilet papers for Alycia and Sherilyn to sit on when we go out.

Your Baby Can Read Book

Baby C must have been really bored sleeping in her pink bouncinet the whole day, ever since she was a few days old. Lately, she can’t nap for long during the day and wants to be stimulated all the time. She loves to be talked to, sung to, she loves it when I dance with her, she will doze off really easily when I bring her for a walk in her stroller and she loves watching TV too. Nope, I did not let her watch the regular TV programs. Yesterday, I put on the starter VCD on “Teach Your Baby To Read” by Dr Robert Titzer for her to watch and oh my, her eyes were fixated at the TV. I bought the set of VCDs for Sherilyn when she was around 1 year old. I am thinking of getting the book on “Your Baby Can Read”, by Dr Robert Titzer too. iPod For Me

Yesterday, I had a good half an hour workout on my trampoline. I had wanted to bring Baby C out jogging with me in the morning but it started to drizzle. So I did some running and jumping on my trampoline with Baby C facing me strapped in the stroller. Thank God she just sat there quietly and behaved herself without fussing and whining. But I find working out on my trampoline rather monotonous. I prefer to go out for a run and get a dose of Vitamin D from the sunlight too. Perhaps I should get myself an ipod so that I can listen to my favorite songs while I work out on the trampoline. I didn’t know that there are so many types of ipods until my group of teenage cousins showed me their ipods – which ranged from ipod Nano, ipod Touch, ipod Classic and much more. I’m really way behind when it comes to gizmos!

A Day Out At The Hospital

Yesterday, we spent over 5 hours at HUKM (Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia) as we were there to bring Cassandra to see the pediatric nephrologist. When we were at the hospital, Cassandra had me running around when she poo pooed big time 3 times.... till I ran out of diapers and daddy had to buy a pack of very expensive diapers from the sundry shop at the hospital. Of course, she also wanted my teat teats to suckle and I tell you, when it rains, it really pours. The lights in the nursing and baby changing room were out! So I had to change her diaper in the stroller, which was really messy and back-breaking. I also had to scout round the hospital to look for a corner to breastfeed my little wailing princess.

The second time she cried for milk, thank God the doctor allowed me to use the bed to nurse her. I drew the curtains and quickly let her suckle for 10 minutes as I sat on the bed, then changed her pooed diaper.

Horrified

When I went to the wet kitchen to supervise my maid cooking the other day, I was horrified to see that my expensive 1-year old non-stick pan was in such a bad state. The layer of non-stick coating was peeling and there were scratches everywhere on the pan. My maid must have used a rough scouring pad to wash the pan after use, despite me telling her repeatedly that she is only to use a soft sponge to wash non-stick pots and pans. Everyday she uses this non-stick pan to cook and I read from an article that the layer of non-stick coating is carcinogenic, if ingested. OMG, I better get a new non-stick pella pan to replace this worn out pan and I better discard it before my maid uses it again.

Cream Puffs With Black Sesame Cream

Beard Papa has a new product. My favorite cream puffs now come in a new flavor - cream filling with a generous amount of black sesame in it. Black sesame paste is also my favorite. My mil went to Mid Valley for shopping the other day and bought half a dozen of cream puffs for us. Alycia, Sher and I are absolutely crazy over cream puffs and the 3 of us walloped all the 6 cream puffs in 2 days. And that's the reason why my belly is still not getting any flatter, thanks to all these fattening stuff!

Reading Time

Check this out here.

Simply Irresistibly Squeezable

Barbara commented the other day that she really wanted to squeeze Baby C's arms. Well, I feel the same too. Each time I see her exposed chubby arms and legs, I would squeeze them and oh boy, they feel so squeezable. Even Sherilyn can't resist her urge and quietly squeezed Baby C's legs the other day when I wasn't looking!

Look at those arms.... not only do I love squeezing them, I am so tempted to bite them too, LOL..... am I outa my mind?

It Sure Feels Good To Exercise Again

I resumed my first jogging session yesterday. I had only wanted to bring Baby C out for a morning walk to get some Vitamin D from the morning sun but after a while, my legs felt itchy and I started jogging.... only in my mil's Crocs slippers whilst pushing Baby C in the stroller. It was only for a short 15 minutes as I felt uncomfortable jogging in a pair of flip flops. Today I did it again, for a mere 15-20minute jog up and downhill which was really a breath-catching and onerous task. Plus, the scorching 9ish morning sun shining on me and Baby C made me cut short the session. When I came home, the gush of adrenalin flowing through my body made me feel so good. For exactly a year, I have not had my skin drenched in sweat and today, I felt so good having hot sweat dribbling down my head and body. But I really need to buy a better stroller, preferably a jogger or a stroller where I can place Baby C facing me. I saw one which I really liked the other day. It was a McLaren and has all the features that hubby and I are looking for BUT the price tag made our jaw drop - it costs a whopping RM2k! Well, if I can find a taker to buy the stroller at half price in 3 years' time, I would gladly buy it.

Food Glorious Food!

Are these making your tummy growl and rumble now? I was just looking at my Pictures folder and found these 2 pix taken when we had lunch at Delicious about a month back. Oh boy, they are making my tummy rumble now. The nasi kerabu is one of the best I've tasted. Though I don't eat rice and don't fancy rice at all (the thoughts of a bulging belly and an aunty's flabby underarms would always flash in my mind causing me guilt whenever I chomp down rice), I just can't help myself to a spoonful or two of this nasi kerabu. The rice goes very well with the delicious chicken curry.

And this was what Alycia and Sherilyn had - scrambled eggs with loads of butter on a slice of french toast and sausages. Aahhhh, this is the kinda food for an Atkin's dieter... minus the french toast. Simply yummy!

Delicious Bread Pudding

I am a bread lover. Though I am on a low carb, high protein diet, I still eat bread BUT only wholemeal bread with lots of grains, nuts and seeds. In fact, I eat bread almost everday... with peanut butter, almond butter, black sesame paste and cheese... all protein based spreads. I also love bread pudding and one of the best bread puddings I have eaten is from Delicious @ Bangsar Village. It comes with a topping of crystalized marmalade jam accompanied with vanilla sauce. That's one of my occasional sins... gorging on carbo-laden desserts!
