Dull Sunday
Today has been a pretty dull Sunday for us. Alycia is still having cough and phlegm (though her fever has subsided) and her medicine is making her feeling sleepy and listless. We did not go to church today and stayed home the entire day. Sherilyn has also caught the virus from daddy and Alycia and has started to cough since yesterday. Her voice has also changed and she sounds like she's got a lot of phlegm. Yesterday when she cried, she threw up a lot of phlegm. I'm just hoping she won't have fever and a full fledge flu. Sher's still very active and has been running around the house and talking to herself as her playmate is sleeping almost the whole day. Just hope the gals will get better by tomorrow. I won't be sending Alycia to school tomorrow as she's still under medication. Planning to send her back to school on Tuesday next week.
My Maid Is Leaving Soon
My maid will be leaving us on Sunday next week. She seems very happy and appears to start missing Sherilyn. She's carrying Sherilyn quite a bit lately and runs to check on her whenever she cries. I think a close bond has grown between my maid and Sherilyn as she's been taking care of Sher since she was 10 months old. Moreover, Sher sure knows how to melt people's hearts with her cute antics. My maid is also getting very forgetful and dreamy lately. All that's in her mind now is to go back to Indon to meet her daughter and family. I think she has also stopped seeing her Nepalese boyfriend after hubby lashed out on her last month over her boyfriend.
Now my problem is getting a temporary maid while waiting for my new maid to arrive. Really giving me a big headache.

Advertlets Widget Acting Up
Today I encountered a strange thing with my blog and I must thank Barb for highlighting it to me. Each time I tried to access both my blogs, after the homepage is downloaded, the page will be directed to the Advertlets website by default. I immediately removed the Advertlets widget from my blog and voila, the problem was solved. I have emailed Advertlets to inform them of this problem but I had received a failed delivery return message in my email. I think there must be a serious system error at Advertlets. For those of you with the Advertlets widget in your blog, did you encounter this problem too today?
Mice Attack
Yesterday I wanted to print the revised flight itinerary for my maid’s flight back to Indonesia but my printer wasn’t working. When hubby came home to check, he discovered that the cable connecting the printer to the computer was chewed off, most probably by a mouse as I’ve seen a number of mice in my house lately and a baby mouse gave me a real scare recently when it ran over my feet, yikes! Now, we have to get a new fiber cable from blackbox.com. I better call the pest control company to service our house again before the mice chew off other cables or give me another scare.
Fairytale Wedding
I can’t help but keep talking about my friend who is getting married to a Tan Sri’s son as her fairytale like wedding is such an elaborate and grand one. Her close friends including me are so excited planning the wedding for her. She has already ordered a custom-made engagement ring with a huge blinking stone on it and she’s now shopping for the wedding rings and wedding jewelry. She doesn’t need to worry about the budget the slightest bit as everything is being paid for by her FIL, how awesome can that be! Next we will shop for the wedding flowers. Stay tuned for more.....
So Many Things To Buy
I have three more months to go before my baby pops out. I’ve not bought anything for the baby yet but I’ve already started to shop for the clothes that I’ll be wearing during my confinement. I’ve got myself a few sets of pajamas with front opening buttons for ease of breast feeding at night and some Nike golf socks at only $9.95 for a pack of 3 pairs. I still need to get myself some long pants, blouses with front opening buttons, breast pads and the shopping list seems to get longer each day. Thank goodness I don’t have to buy much baby stuff as this baby can wear hand-me-downs from Alycia and Sherilyn.
Food Exchanging

My neighbors and I love exchanging food with each other. Since we had 5 types of cakes in December alone, I gave some of these cakes to my Sikh neighbor. Yesterday, I gave her a quarter of the huge watermelon that hubby bought. In return, she gave us more Muruku (yummy, I love this) and some very tasty chocolate rice cookies made by her daughter-in-law. I am still waiting to taste her homemade curry and I wonder when lar she will ever give me some.

Lovey Gift For The Groomsman Too
My childhood friend who is getting hitched to a rich Tan Sri’s son is looking for groomsmen gift for the groomsman. Since it’s going to be an elaborate and formal wedding, every single guest who attends the wedding will be getting a personalized and unique wedding favor. For the groomsman, she is planning to get him a pair of elegant cufflinks with aquamarine blue crystals and zironias from Cuff-Daddy. I’ve never seen such rare and elegant cufflinks before and surprisingly, they are not very costly. What a lovely gift that is going to be for the groomsman!

Quality Time With Daddy

When Alycia wanted to watch the VCD on Elf Bowling The Movie in my room, Sherilyn who tends to get scared watching this cartoon, ran to her room (which is adjoining to our room) and covered herself with a blanket. She refused to come to our room. Daddy then went to her rescue and read to her from the Leap Frog pad. The gals always wish that daddy would be at home earlier more to spend quality time with them.

Pregnancy at 24 Weeks
My tummy feels so uncomfortable now..... feel like pooping but can't poop. It must be the overnight watermelon that I had eaten this afternoon. I had just eaten a small slice but I feel bloated now, can't even slouch when I sit as I feel terribly uncomfortable.... got to sit so upright on my computer chair now till my ribs hurt.
Today I'm into the 24th week of my pregnancy. Went to see the fetal specialist today to assess my baby's dilated kidney. Read more about it here.

Chef In The Making

This is Alycia's favorite toy - pretend cooking and making food from play dough. But I seldom let the gals play with play dough as I just hate the mess they create after the session. Though I normally line the table with a plastic sheet, there will still be bits of play dough stuck to the floor of the living room. Poor mummy and kakak will have to scrape the play dough out and wipe the floor. The most tedious part is cleaning their hands and removing the play dough stuck between their fingers and their nail. Water alone can't remove the tiny bits of play dough. I need to dig them up with my finger nails and this hurts their tiny fingers and mine too.

Fun In The Sun

Whenever there are hotel stays, playing in the pool is always something that every kid would look forward to. For Alycia who had too much of fun in the sun, she got a little more than she had bargained for. Not only did she get a sun tan but she had high fever today. She's just like mummy, a 'puteri lilin' (which literally means 'candle queen', ie. someone who will melt when exposed to heat!) and will surely fall sick if exposed for too long to the scorching sun and heat. I hope daddy learnt his lesson when he didn't listen to mummy and allowed Alycia to continue playing in the blazing sun at 11:30am.

Bad Start
It's a bad start for us this new year. Alycia has developed high fever and puked 3 times today. I knew this would happen when daddy brought the gals swimming yesterday. We went to the pool at around 10am and by 10:30am, the sun was scorching hot. Despite me pestering daddy to bring Alycia out from the pool, they were reluctant and continued to swim in the blazing heat until 11:30am! Anyone who is exposed that long to such heat will surely fall sick, what more Alycia who has such low immune system. Thankfully Sherilyn listened to me and we went back to our room to shower.
During the buffet breakfast, daddy as usual spoilt Alycia with sweet and heaty food. I just knew Alycia would fall sick gorging on these heaty food and being exposed to the scorching heat for more than an hour. When we got back, I told hubby to buy coconut water to cool our bodies but Alycia wouldn't even want to go near the coconut water. Sherilyn obediently drank it and is still ok today - no signs of fever, coughing, sore throat or runny nose. Alycia who always disobeys mummy got all the symptoms of an 'over heaty' person with lots of phelgm (vomitted phelgm twice), coughing, high fever (38.7 degrees) and runny nose. I told hubby he had better bring Alycia to see the doctor today and kau tim her coz he spoilt her rotten and now she's sick. How to go to school like that tomorrow? I hate it whenever Alycia falls sick and has to skip school. She is already so lacking behind her peers as she had skipped classes for more than 7 months last year and now she has a long way to catch up.

I'd Like To Own A Chrysler Too
My rich uncle used to own a Chrysler 300. It’s really a very elegant car and freaking expensive too. My uncle sold his Chrysler half a year ago to buy a Mercedes coz he always had to wait for ages for the accessories to arrive whenever his car breaks down as some of the accessories are imported only when a request is made. Had he known earlier that he could purchase his Chrysler 300 accessories online at discount price from wooddashexpers.com, he wouldn’t have to sell his Chrysler. Chrysler cars are quite rare here but if you do see one on the road, I'm sure you'll be impressed with the design of the car. I'd like to own one too if I had the money!

Happy Happy New Year
This was one of my best new year's eve celebrations. Read more about our story from my other blog.
Taken outside Pavillion.
Picture taken from our hotel room on the 27th floor of Sheraton Imperial. That was the fireworks from the Merdeka Square.

Picture taken from my bed. The view from my bed is the KL Towers. The entire night, I just lay on my bed watching the lazer lights display at KL Towers.
Didn't manage to snap good pictures of the lazer lights show and fireworks because of the window obstruction. Switched my camera to 'glass display' mode but still didn't manage to snap good shots. It's high time I get another camera.

Happy 2008
We will all be checking into a 5-star hotel in KL today for a one-night stay and count down to the New Year. Not letting anyone know which hotel we'll be staying just in case there are stalkers out there LOL! Hopefully our plan to go to the fish spa in Pavillion will materialize. You heard of this spa where you can immerse your feet in water and be 'massaged' (more of sucked and bitten) by a school of tiny fish? Hubby and I are raring to try that out. Also hoping that we can bring the gals for a monorial ride round KL.
What are your plans tonight?
To everyone, here's wishing you all a very happy, healthy and fruitful 2008! May 2008 see a rise in our blog PR and more offers pouring in!

What Puts A Smile On Her Face

What can really put a big smile on Alycia's face is food! Like daddy, Alycia is a discerning foodie. She can really tell what's tasty and what's not, just like daddy. Even from a baby, she has already shown great interest and liking in food. Some people say that Alycia looks very much like daddy, hopefully her size will not balloon up like daddy too!
Creative Combination
A Month Of Celebrations
December is always a month full of celebrations in the Yap household. First it's Alycia's birthday, then mil's birthday, then Chinese Winter Solstice Festival (we only celebrate when mil is around), next is Christmas, followed by hubby's birthday and finally a celebration to usher in the new year.
Today is hubby's birthday. Though I've known him for more than 2 decades (go figure out how old I was when I first met him), this is the 18th year we are celebrating his birthday together. It's just any other ordinary Sunday today. After church, we went to Ah Yat Abalone Restaurant for dim sum, then hopped to the Japanese restaurant next door to eat California roll before heading home. I'll write a post on the dim sum review at Ah Yat soon and why hubby had to hop to the next restaurant. So stay tuned......
Hubby bought a pandan layer cake for the gals to cut and blow candles yesterday.

Poopie Prunes

When we went shopping for groceries the other day, daddy bought the gals a packet of prunes. When we reached home, they requested to try the prunes. I just knew they would not take a liking to the prunes as they have never liked dried fruits and anything that's black in color and squidgy. True enough when the packet was opened and they saw the black colored prunes, they ran away. So I had to convince them that it tastes just as good as prune juice (their all-time favorite drink) as prune juice is made from prunes. They were really reluctant to try it and after I had convince them to take a small bite, they spat out the prune and said it's poop, black poop and pushed my hand away. I don't fancy prunes either, so now the packet of prunes is left in the fridge. Now I am finding a way to conceal the prunes in their food. Maybe I should try making them some banana and prune pancakes next week!
