Another Sea Cucumber Dish

My mil cooked this very delicious dish the other day. It consists of sea cucumber, canned Pacific clams, 'wong kai lon' (a kind of dried cuttlefish), dried mushrooms, garlic and it tasted absolutely yummy! We only get to eat sea cucumbers whenever my mil is around coz it takes many days and lots of time and effort to prepare the sea cucumbers..... and this is something that I would never have the time or patience to do!

Stay Away Food High In Potassium From Baby C

Finally, Baby C had her 5th and last dose of painful intra-muscular jab today. Though I am happy that it's the last, I still have a niggling worry that the UTI will attack her again. I've already done my level best to keep the UTI at bay, yet she still got attacked. Our paed said that this is expected as Baby C has a Grade III Kidney Reflux, which means that her sphincters (the pumps/valves in the urinary system) are weak. Hopefully, as she grows, the sphincters will become stronger and the reflux will resolve by itself.

The blood test done on Monday shows that Baby C's renal functions (kidneys) are perfectly normal. Anyway, to play safe, our paed advised us to keep food high in potassium to the lowest for Baby C. People with weak kidneys should avoid or eat very little food containing Potassium. So, Baby C can't eat a lot of bananas, starfruits (remember the case of the man with kidney problem who died after he ate starfruits in China?), chocolates, nuts, beans, etc.

Baby Lamb Needs Slippers Too Mummy!

I was busy with Baby C 2 days ago. Alycia and Sherilyn were busy playing and entertaining themselves in the living room. I was really stressed up that Baby C has another UTI and I have been spending several hours everyday in the hospital.

When I saw this at the front door of our house ............

I had a good laugh. Sherilyn my rascal sure has lots of bright ideas, funny ideas and tricks up her sleeves. She may be very very mischievous and cheeky and can really make my blood boil but the things that she says and does sometimes can really give me a hearty guffaw!

Sherilyn Is Down With A Bad Cold

and she's coughing and sneezing the whole day with goo like worms oozing out from her nostrils all the time! Our paed kept warning us to keep Sherilyn away from Baby C, else baby will also be bitten by the bug. Sherilyn is trying her best by walking away when she coughs and sneezes but sometimes she forgets and touches Baby C with her germs-filled hands, yikes! Oh God, please don't let Cassandra catch the cold virus. She is already taking so much antibiotics and I just don't want to burden her little body with more meds. Hopefully my milkie will help her fight off Sher's cold virus.

Complimentary Enfalac A+

Each time I bring Baby C for her vaccination, the medical assistant would give me a box of Enfalac A+. Since it's given free, I took it though Baby C does not drink any formula at all and she even hates the milk bottle. Guess who has been helping herself to the baby formula? It's none other than Sherilyn my milk lover and luckily she does not find the taste of the baby formula yucky!

A Drawer Full Of Urine Bags And Sterile Bottles

Ever since Baby C's 2nd UTI (urinary tract infection) attack, I am so paranoid of her having another UTI attack that I stocked up my drawer with urine bags and sterile bottles from the hospitals. At the onset of foul-smelling pee (which smells like someone who had eaten petai or stinky beans the night before), I will collect her urine the following morning. Each urine test costs almost RM40. Since her attacks are so frequent, hubby and I have decided to have her urine tested every week. Can you imagine how much hubby is spending on urine tests, diapers, medical consultation and medication for Baby C a month?

Baby C Has Started To Creep!

Baby C has started to creep!! But she's creeping backwards.... everywhere on the floor lol! Despite having another UTI attack, this has not deterred my tough cookie from exploring the house with her new found feat.

My First Try In Making Bento Eggs For Kids

and it turned out quite well. The eggs I used were kampung chicken eggs (free-range chicken eggs) and though they were a tad too big for the egg mould, nonetheless it turned out quite well. I used a spoon to scrape off the extra egg whites outside the mould. Alycia and Sherilyn were really tickled pink to see their hard-boiled eggs in the shape of a car and a fish! Too bad the Winnie The Pooh egg mould that I had initially ordered were all sold out, otherwise the gals would also have Pooh Bear shaped hard-boiled eggs for breakfast and to bring to school.

My New Bento Tools Finally Arrived

My bento tools ordered from http://www.nst.my/ finally arrived today after a wait of almost a month for the shipment to arrive from Japan. Alycia and Sher were very thrilled to see those bento stuff, especially the sauce pens. Alycia kept asking me to draw this and that with jams and sauces on her food! She even asked me if she could draw a party hat on her rice by herself lol! I shall start having fun with those tools tomorrow!

Traumatic Time For Baby C

Baby C had a real traumatic time at the hospital today when the pediatric nephrologist inserted the catheter into her urethra. Read the rest of the story at my other blog by clicking on the link above.

Multi-Grain Rice

My mil bought this pack of multi-grain rice with over 10 types of grains from sprouted rice to wheat, millet, black beans, sesame seeds, brown rice, green beans and much more. She bought it from Jaya Jusco. This type of rice is a healthier alternative to white rice. It tastes good and chewy, besides being wholesome.

Potty-Training Baby C

Check out why I am potty-training Baby C now when she's only 4 months.

Deep Fried Mee Suah With Yummy Egg Sauce And Fish Paste

As promised, here are the pix of the noodles that I cooked for lunch yesterday. With my right hand carrying Baby C, I held the spatula with my left hand and cooked the sauce for the pre-cooked/deep fried mee suah with my left hand. It was such a hit with Alycia and Sherilyn. The noodles were very crispy and the egg sauce with fish paste went very well with the noodles.

Ingredients for the sauce : 2 eggs beaten, choy sum, fish paste, garlic, soya sauce, a dash of brown sugar (optional), some corn flour, water and pepper. Once the sauce and ingredients are cooked, pour the sauce over the pre-cooked mee suah.

The pre-cooked/deep fried mee suah can be eaten on its own, like the snack Mamee. Yums!

I Love This Huge Bed!

I placed Baby C on her cheh chehs' queen size mattress the other day and as she lay there alone, she stared at the moving fan on the ceiling, then she stared at the huge bed, then she stared at the colorful Princess bedsheet with eyes wide opened....

then she gave me a grin as she was happy to have the bed all to herself.....

then she stared at herself in the mirror and I sang "Who's that baby looking at the mirror" song to her..... and she gave me her heart-melting wide grin. She just loves looking at herself and at me at the mirror.

A Carb-Filled Breakfast

I had a real sinful breakfast heavily laden with carb today. I ate a slice of pandan layer cake, a slice of light and moist cheese cake, a large slice of green tea, wolfberries and sunflower seeds bread and a cranberry cream cheese bun! Hubby didn’t know that his mother had already bought buns and a cheese cake from our favorite bakery in the afternoon and he bought more buns and a pandan layer cake from this bakery when he picked Alycia up after ballet class yesterday evening. So how can I resist those tempting carbs sitting nicely on the dining table, you tell me? What’s the meaning of life if I can only drool on my favorite food and not eat them, right? It’s big time torturous if I were to force myself to eat cabbage and grapefruit all the time. I’d rather have a little indulgence and I can always get a pack of Slimquick if I need to get slim quickly. But right now, I am in no great hurry to get slim quickly.

The Mischievous One With A Mysterious Sleeping Position

That's Sherilyn my mischievous rascal sleeping in a wierd position. When the little mind is always up to mischief, I suppose the body also acts mischievously and mysteriously.... even during sleeping mode! This picture was taken when Alycia and Sherilyn were having their afternoon nap. I know I have to wean Sherilyn off wearing diapers too but aiyah, I am just too lazy. I gotta kick my butt to do it soon to save some money on disposable diapers.

Call Me Cheh Cheh, Aunty Not

I was jogging the other morning when I saw a toddler around 14 - 16 months. He was also jogging with his grand dad on the road. When the baby boy saw me, he called me "cheh cheh". Hahaha..... the baby called me "cheh cheh" wor, not "aun-tee" wor! Words that come out from a kid's mouth are often very genuine yer know. My head was sooooo heavy that I felt I was about to trip and fall LOL! Many people were often in disbelief when they found out that I have 3 kids, ahem! My former boss once told me that I can even pass off as a teenager! I must thank my parents' 'young look' genes for both my parents look very young for their age too.

Do kids call you cheh cheh or aun-tee?

What's For Dinner Tonight?

My mil is a good cook. In under an hour, she can turn these simple veggies and chicken:

into these dishes:

steamed chicken,

stir-fried yellow bell pepper with long beans and fresh mushrooms,

Stir-fried eggplants with minced chicken meat and fermented soy beans and organic bitter gourd omelette.

Whenever my mil is around, we can have dinner at 6:30pm but when she's away, we only get to eat dinner at 8pm!

The Toast @ Gardens, Mid Valley

We had breakfast at The Toast @ Gardens today. Hubby seems to like the food at this place. They have all the simple breakfast items from nasi lemak to kaya toasts, french toasts, chee cheong fun, curry mee, the basic Western breakfast, white coffee and much more. This hawker-style cafe is always fully packed with patrons and there was a long beeline at the cafe today.

The sunny-side-up eggs were a tad raw, so we had them re-fried.

I love the french toast. The toast is sandwiched with peanut butter and the outer layer is of course egg and glazed with kaya. Very delicious.... and fattening too! If only they had wholemeal bread, it wouldn't be that fattening.

The iced white coffee is very refreshing.

I find the sambal on the nasi lemak too spicy, so spicy that I choked on the first bite!

After breakfast, we went shopping.
