Alycia and Sherilyn's Hair-cut

When it comes to trimming by gals' fringes, I often leave this task to my maid coz I just don't have the patience to keep my 2 rumbustious brats sitting still whilst I snip their fringes away. My maid would have it her way then, the kampung style, as can be seen from the pictures here.

Haircut the kampung style at our backyard.

Ok, now's Sherilyn mui mui's turn. Don't move girl, hold on to this peg.

The outcome.... lopsided & zig-zaged fringes. Sigh.... need some touching up tomorrow.

Advertlets

I was blog hopping today and chanced upon Advertlets, a Malaysian advertising company from Chin Nee's blog.

Advertlets provides targeted advertising through the means of real time demographics profiling for your blog - meaning, you get local advertisers, matched with the target audience for your blog. Advertlets wouldn’t show ads on your blog for make-up and high heels if we found you had 80% male visitors, for instance. Advertlets will use your blog details / theme to match you with relevant advertisers. You can choose to just display ads in your blog or make money writing reviews or blogvertorials.

The best thing about Advertlets is that withdrawing your money earned from Advertlets is easy peasy as you don't need to own a foreign bank account.

How is payment made to bloggers?
Currently you can only cashout via cheque. In the future Advertlets will offer Maybank2u (for those with Maybank2u accounts), and also prepaid reloads (currently only for Maxis Hotlink and Celcom Xpax) cashouts.

For those who are interested, simply click here to register for free.

You can also check out Advertlets by clicking on the Advertlets banner on my sidebar.

New toy

This is the new toy that DH secretly bought his 2 angels from Mid Valley Megamall yesterday... a school bus tent. Well, I shall see how long this new toy can sustain the gals' interest before being chucked into the storeroom if it is lucky enough to remain intact or being ripped apart into pieces.

Hello mummy... I love this yellow school bus.... "the wheels on the bus goes round and round, round and round, round and round..."

Taking turns to play bus driver and school children. This bus even comes with an inflatable steering wheel that's attachable to the tent.
The driver on the bus goes honk honk honk, all through the hall.

A Fun Day at Mid Valley Megamall

Today, DH took a day off from work to bring the gals to Mid Valley Megamall as he wanted to bring them for a ride on Thomas Tank & Friends, which made its debut appearance in Malaysia. We had thought the rides were free as advertised in the papers, but I think DH missed the small * sign which says 'conditions apply'... hiyah.... rides are free only with minimum purchase of RM80 on Thomas & Friends merchandise.

The best shot I managed to snap of Thomas Tank before being told to back off for the reporters and the Sunbeam pre-schoolers.

Thomas & Friends merchandise on display.

Now I really like this Thomas & Friends bed.

The crowd was crazy and there were reporters everywhere. A group of Sunbeam pre-schoolers were the very first few lucky guests to have their rides on Thomas Tank and they were teated like VIPs as the reporters were busy snapping their pix away. I was even told to give way when I tried to snap pix of my 2 gals, wtf.

Anyway, the Thomas & Friends train was not as impressive as I'd expected, as can be seen from the pix. Similar and longer rides can be taken at 1 Utama Shopping Centre and they only cost RM3 per ride. I would say Metro Jaya has succeeded in its marketing strategy to draw a huge crowd, mostly doting parents and grandparents as well as Thomas & Friends fans who are willing to part with RM80 or more to buy Thomas & Friends merchandise, then spend half an hour queuing up to pay for the merchandise and then waste another half an hour queuing up for the train ride that only lasted less than 5 minutes. The toys were not even cheap and I saw people grabbing them as though they were on cheap sale without batting an eyelid and hurriedly ran to the cashier to pay in order to get tickets for the train rides. DH was almost one of the 'vicims', if not for my wise and quick intervention.... ahem.

After joining in the craze with Thomas & Friends fans, we all went to have dim sum at Spring Valley Chinese Restaurant. After that, we got Alycia a pair of Disney's Winnie The Pooh shoes as her old shoes were wearing out and her feet are outgrowing them, and btw her shoes cost way more than mine.

While I went for my monthly retail theraphy, DH brought the gals to the indoor theme park at Jaya Jusco before we headed to Little Penang Cafe to satisfy sil #2's craving for local delights before she flies back to HK next week. After satisfying sil #2's crave, DH brought wife boss to Papa Beard to get her 5 deliciously sinful cream puffs.

Whilst I was away on my retail spree, DH quietly bought the gals yet another toy. DH sure knows when to buy... when wife boss is not around to stop him from pampering his 2 angels :roll eyes: Shall take pix of the new toy and post them in my blog soon.

More fun with daddy at the indoor theme park at Jaya Jusco whilst mummy goes for her monthly retail theraphy.

Batteries conked out after 5 hours of continuous fun, eating and shopping.
Look at Alycia's cranky face... well settling down the gals back home is yet another story/battle.

Thumb Sucking

Sherilyn the thumb-sucker at 3 months.

2 years on.... and still a happy and cheerful thumb-sucker.

Sherilyn's other obsession is thumb sucking. From the time she was in my womb till now, age 2 yrs 3 months, she has always been a compulsive thumb-sucker. She finds such great comfort, security, relief and syiok-ness sucking her thumb. She sucks her thumb when she's sleepy, hungry, bored, happy, sad and when she sleeps.

Many well-meaning friends and relatives urged me to wean her off this habit but I don't think I want to do do it just yet. I actually find this thumb sucking in Sherilyn so.... well, syiok. I simply adore seeing her suck her thumb. She looks so baby-ish, so adorable, so manja, so helpless, so very cute when she sucks her thumb. So why do I want to take away this feeling of comfort and security from my little baby girl? I am confident that she will weane herself off this habit when she's ready, when she knows the feeling of embarassment, when she's matured enough to understand that it doesnt' look decent and cultured to be thumb-sucking in public. So, I'll just let it be and let time takes it course.

Here are some excerpts on thumb-sucking from my Dr Benjamin Spock baby book on thumb sucking for the benefit of my readers who have toddlers who are thumb-suckers:

1. If you keep on worrying (about thumb sucking), even though you resolve to say nothing, your child will feel your tension and react against it.

2. Remember that thumb sucking goes away all by itself in time.

3. Eventually it disappears for good.

4. It rarely stops before three years.

5. It usually peters out between three and six.

6. Thumb sucking by itself is not a sign of unhappiness or maladjusment or lack of love. In fact, most thumb suckers are very happy children and children who are severely deprived of affection don't thumb suck.

7. Dentists point out that if the baby gives up thumb-sucking by six years of age, as happens in a great majority of cases, there is very little chance of its displacing the permanent teeth. (what a relief!)

8. Don't nag or bribe your child to stop thumb-sucking.

Toys Again!

I am sure those who bought the Star newspapers today got an insert of a huge, attractive and colourful flyer from Toys R Us. Whenever Alycia and Sherilyn see these flyers, they will go oooohh & aaahhh and the 2 of them will spend a good half an hour studying each and every toy advertised in the flyer, discussing amongst themselves what to ask daddy to buy. Now, that's another free and good breather opportunity for me.

Let's ask daddy tonight to buy us this, this and this toys, k.

Good taste you two have darlings.... that rabbit slide set costs RM449.95 Alycia girl.... and Sherilyn sweetie that playhouse cost RM1,299 wei... u think your daddy is a millionaire?

Sisters play turn ugly... Alycia snatched the flyer away from Sherilyn. Now, that's a very good excuse for mummy not to buy anyone any toys.

Roaches

One of my top 5 greatest phobias is cockroaches or any insects that have big flappy wings. I was just telling Leena (Baby Shern) 2 days ago that I just abhore roaches and the following day, I had a close encounter with a big brown roach.

I was about to feed Sherilyn her milk when at the corner of my eyes, I saw something big and brown with shiny flappy wings on my computer. I quickly turned my head to the computer and saw a huge, brown roach flapping its shiny wings as if telling me to stay away from it, else it will fly right through me and squirt some stinky black goo on my face. Eeewwww....... I just freaked out and screamed and yelled out to my maid "suuuuuu... cepat mari tolong saya, ada LIPAS, cepat angkat Shelltox". Su who was in the toilet rushed out with a can of aerosol and starting spraying the roach who then flew, eewwww.... and I ran for my dear life, pulling Sherilyn away. Luckily, the aerosol managed to suffocate poor siu keong (chinese nickname for cockroach) which then landed under the tv cabinet. I wanted to hug Su and thank her for killing that roach. I better call Rentokil today to service my house as soon as possible. So timid hor me, terrified of something which is so tiny and powerless, sigh.... :shake head:

Sherilyn and Her Nappy

For the past 1 week, Sherilyn has been obssessed with nappies, yeah, of all things, it has to be cloth nappies. The moment she wakes up in the morning, she will grab a nappy and tie it round her shoulders, like a cape and refuses to let go of the nappy. She will then bring the nappy to the toilet, bathroom, when she naps, when she sits and eat on her highchair and even wore the ridiculous looking nappy cape when I brought her out for her evening walk with Alycia and my maid yesterday. I was so embarassed when passers-by stared at her and laughed, really malu

Besides this strange quirk, she's also super whinny and cranky for the past 1 week. Oh God, I just hope these are not foreboding symptoms that she's going to fall sick soon coz Alycia just recovered from a slight cold. Or could it be she's just obssessed with Baby Bop and its yellow blankey?

I like my white-tie blankie in the day and night. I love this song by Baby Bop mommy.

Sherilyn running around the house with her ridiculous looking nappy cape.

Sherilyn went for her evening walk and jumped on the trampoline in her nappy cape like a 'sor poh' (mad woman) ha ha....

Alycia Can Count 1 - 20

Alycia has been able to count her numbers from 1 through 14 for quite a long time already, but no matter how I made her memorize 14 through 20, she still got the teens all jumbled up.

For the last 1 week, each time I brought Alycia and Sherilyn for their evening walks, I'd ask Alycia to count her 1 through 20. She always got her 1-14 perfectly memorized but when it comes to 15 onwards, she'd just get stuck and all sorts of non-sequence numbers will spill out from her mouth, like 14, 7, 16, 15, 9 ..... alamak, :slap forehead: Yesterday during our evening walk, as Alycia was in the midst of counting her numbers, a squirrel darted across the road all of a sudden. I then excited shouted "look Alycia, that's a squirrel". Alycia who was still counting, nonchalantly counted "fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen, twenty" as she fixated her eyes on the squirrel excitedly. I then shouted in delight "Alycia, you got all your numbers right, mummy is so happy and proud of you" and then gave her a big hug, patted her back and praised her further. We were both so happy that she finally got her 1 through 20 recited perfectly without any numbers missing in between.

So my conclusion is I think a child learns better if she/he is in a relaxed, calm, non-tensed mode. They even learn better when they are at play. Perhaps I had put Alycia into a tensed mode when I kept insisting that she has to get all her numbers right. I was so wrong....what a kiasu mummy I am!

Bedtime Stories By Daddy Dearest

Once in a while, daddy will be home early to read bedtime stories to the gals. These are considered rare treats from daddy and the gals enjoy every moment of it. As for me, they are long-awaited breather treats for me....

Got Tagged Again - 7 Random Things

Got tagged again, this time by Leena (sweet revenge huh?) on 7 Random Things About Myself. Good tag, at least this will give my readers an idea of what kinda person I am.

1. As my blog title says it, I am a health freak, also a fitness nut and cleanliness freak.

2. I'm a worry freak too, love to worry over every single thing.

3. Like Leena, my sense of direction sucks too.

4. I am an Atkin's follower and currently living on a low-carb diet, don't eat rice, noodles, potatoes, candies and keep white flour products to the minimal.

5. My favourite colors are pink, baby blue and violet.

6. I am super impatient and my temper flares up very easily, thanks to my dad's genes.

7. I weigh myself on the scale at least twice a day. You call this eccentricity or character flaw?

Now, I really want to get to know these wonderful bloggers too:

Shoppingmum
LZ Mommy
Jazzmint
Shannon Chong
Elaine (Montessorimum) ... another filler post for you, hah!

A Good Work-out Session

It's not easy to remain a size 0 and maintain a weight of 43kg after having 2 kids. Each morning, whether rain or shine, I'll diligently rise at 6:45am to work-out, first on my fitball and then for a 30-40 minute jog round my neighbourhood.

Sherilyn my lil' brat seems to have an uncanny sense each time I leave my room in the morning. She will toss about in her bed, whimpering a tad bit with her eyes closed as if she can sense mummy is going to leave her behind and at times, she will wake up just before I open my room door, crying out and begging pathetically for me to bring her along. So what do I do if she wakes up before I leave? I will strap her in the stroller and tag her along. This morning, we did just that. Let me tell you, it ain't easy to jog and push a 13kg weight in a 7kg+ stroller (that makes 20kg!) uphill and downhill, up and down slopes and humps. It zaps off all the energy in you instantly. Only a pro jogger would understand what I am describing here. But it is a blessing in disguise as I managed to sweat profusely and burn up the extra calories I gained from the smorgasbord that I gorged on at the high-tea at PJ Hilton yesterday.

Sherilyn happily waiting to be pushed around in her stroller.

A very sweaty me... phoof....feels so energized.

We Love Sundays

We spent our Sunday lepaking at PJ Hilton again yesterday. In case some of you are wondering why my DH always brings us to hotels for buffet meals, well that's because he has already pre-paid for them. He has paid RM400+ on membership fee (for each hotel) at the Hilton Hotel, Shangri-La Hotel and Sheraton group of hotels. That's more than RM1,200+ for a 1-year subscription to 3 groups of hotels. So when the two of us dine at these hotels, we get 50% off the total bill. If there are more than 2 diners, we enjoy a 30% discount on the total bill (F&B only). On top of that, for each hotel, we are entitled to 2 nights free hotel stay. Last year, we stayed at the Hilton Sentral Hotel together with my parents and my brothers/SIL where we celebrated my mum's 60th birthday there. Later, we stayed at the Westin Hotel (member of the Hilton Group) during X'mas. This year, we have yet to utilize the free hotel stays. Gotta start planning now for a short holiday. I love!

These pix were taken yesterday at PJ Hilton.

Daddy Dearest

DH normally works late and is only home after the gals are fast asleep, so when he does come home early, the gals will get all excited and scream "daddy is back, daddy is back...." the moment they hear his car engine running outside the house. They will then act up over every single thing just to get their daddy's attention and love. Sometimes I wonder if it's a cheer or a jeer for me that DH is home to be with the gals coz I just can't get the gals to do anything when their daddy is around. All they want is to play with daddy and do all the 'mummy forbids' with daddy coz they know they can bully daddy and get away with daddy however they fancy and daddy just won't get mad.

Last nite, just as the gals were about to have their night milk fixes, daddy came home. Both Alycia & Sherilyn rushed to daddy and demanded to lie on his lap like a baby to drink their milk and they took almost half an hour of their sweet time 'manjaing' with daddy before finishing off their milk.

Don't you think I look like a proud mother pig feeding its litter of piglets?

I Love Reading From The Computer

My gals' all-time favourite reading resource... the computer. Most of the time, I will hoard the PC, blogging and net surfing away but when I am in a good mood, my gals rule the PC.

Reading from the Starfall website.

Balloon craze

Both Alycia and Sherilyn are crazy over balloons. On most Sundays, DH would bring us to a hotel for lunch and what excites the gals most is not food but the balloons from the clown.

Alycia inflating a balloon with a hand-pump.

Artist at work... Sherilyn's drawing of some square balloons.

Mummy.... I drew one, two, three, four, five, six.... seven balloons on my Doodle.
