Pretty Pink Suitcase

I realized that two of the wheels of my roller suitcase came off when I was packing my bag to the hospital last week. Now, I have to use a travel bag without any rollers which was a free gift to bring to the hospital. I hate luggage that has no handle or rollers and I want to get one which is small and compact and suitable for a night or two out like this pretty pink Zero Halliburton suitcase. Alycia's New Disney School Bag

Koo Mah from Hong Kong sent this Disney bag over to Alycia just at the right time coz her pink Minnie Mouse bag was torn last week. This bag suits Alycia coz her pre-school has so many books and so much homework to bring home. It's quite a pity that a 4-year old like Alycia has to carry such a heavy bag to school everyday. I can't imagine how big and heavy her school bag will be when she goes to a Chinese primary school in 2 years' time. I think I will need to get her a trolley-bag with rollers then.

Free Educational Gifts

Ever since my kids, especially Sherilyn suffered from bad constipation as a result of drinking the Enfa range of formula milk, I have switched both my girls to Dutch Lady. I have tried many brands but they only have a liking for Dutch Lady.... and it's quite a cheap formula milk! During the day, Sherilyn will be on Dutch Lady and night time, I'll feed her Enfagrow A+ with fibre. Alycia is on Dutch Lady 456 thrice a day. I tried feeding her with Enfakid but she hated the taste.

Flower Pasta

While Alycia is a classic 'fan toong' (one who loves eating rice), Sherilyn does not fancy rice but loves noodles and pastas. Alycia's eyes will lit up when she sees rice, meat, eggs and vegetables on the dining table while Sherilyn will put on a 'foo kwah meen' (bitter gourd face and sulky look). So to please both gals, I normally cook rice for Alycia and noodles or pasta or simply sandwiches for Sherilyn.



This is what I cooked for Sherilyn yesterday - Organic mini flower pasta with organic 'yau mark tarm' vege and stir-fried fish paste with garlic, onions and MSG-free oyster sauce. She loved it and licked the bowl clean!

Can You Eat Eggs And Ginger If You Have A C-Section

I was told by friends that I should avoid eating eggs, 'sang yue' (ikan haruan) and ginger for the first 2 weeks post-delivery if I have gone through a c-section delivery. Reason? These food will cause the wound to get infected and turn ugly. Eggs and fish are high in protein. Protein will heal the wound and make the flesh grow rapidly, thus causing the flesh in the wound to overlap. The Chinese also believe that the ginger will cause the wound to turn ugly and I don't know the reason behind it. I did not believe in this myth and I ate an egg a day and lots of ginger throughout my confinement. Thank God, my wound healed without getting infected and it did not turn ugly too.

Have you heard of this myth? For those of you who had gone through c-section deliveries, did you refrain yourself from eating eggs, sang yue and ginger for the first 2 weeks of your confinement?

Sushi Cake

The Sushi is so popular that creative bakers have even come up with sushi sandwishes and sushi cakes. We saw this at our favorite RT bakery last week and hubby who likes trying new products bought a pack to try. It's made of sponge cake rolled up with tuna fish, cucumber and raw carrots in the middle and seedweed on the outer layer.

My verdict? I won't want to buy it again. Looks fanciful but kind of tasted wierd. I still prefer a plain cake... a good old butter cake or chiffon cake.

Busy Week

These few days I will be super busy rushing off all my outstanding assignments before I take a long blog break next week. But I think most likely I won't be able to resist turning on my computer to check my emails and to start blogging again the same day I am discharged from the hospital, knowing my stubborn self! I am just not the type who can sleep or lay on my bed doing nothing the whole day.

My Little Miss Vain Pot

We were at the Japanese Restaurant @ PJ Hilton last week to celebrate my birthday. As we were going into the restaurant, Alycia stopped me and said "mummy, take my picture here". Gosh, isn't she vain and she's only 4 years old? Well, can't blame her coz mummy is just as vain!

Former Maid’s Boyfriend

I still bump into my former maid’s boyfriend, on most mornings when I bring Sherilyn out to buy the newspapers. He knows who I am and he knows that I know him too. It feels awkward bumping into him coz it was because of him that hubby and I went through a hard time dealing with our maid who was head over heels over him. One time, the guards patrolling our neighborhood almost beat him up when he was caught trying to climb up our gate into our house to meet my maid. I just hope he won’t try to lure my current maid now and cause us the same havoc.

Not So Healthy Food

When it comes to eating sausages, fish balls and roast Terriyaki chicken, I have absolutely no problems feeding Sherilyn. She sits on her chair and happily eats her bowl of rice with these not-so-healthy stuff.

This is considered a feast for Alycia and Sherilyn....having a meal with very tasty, sweet and salty sausages, fishballs and chicken. I don't need to coerce, threaten and bribe Sherilyn to make her swallow her food. I don't encourage buying these stuff actually but daddy who is not as health conscious as me loves to buy these for the gals whenever we shop at Jaya Jusco. What to do, that's his way of expressing his love to the gals, through food.

Pregnancy Tumor

That's the term given to the cyst that grew on my gums when I was pregnant with Alycia. The cyst or rather the overgrowth of the gums (between the teeth) was so huge that the dental surgeon and the Periodontist (gums specialist) told me they have never seen anything so huge before. Thank God, the cyst went away after I delivered Alycia. Now, the cyst is growing again, at the exact same spot that I had it 4.5 years ago. Luckily it did not grow much earlier. When I was carrying Alycia, the cyst grew during the initial stages of my pregnancy and bled so much. Well, I only have 1 more week to suffer and hopefully by then, the cyst would have subsided too.

Not Much Luck In Grabbing Ops

When it comes to grabbing offers, I just don't have the luck lately. There were so many ops for PR0 blogs released by 3P a moment ago, many of which were shaded white and green. When I tried to reserve the ops, the page 'hung' for a few minutes and of course I lost to other people. It's really frustrating. One moment you see those ops, some of which were above $10 each and the next moment, they turned grey. Sigh..... I better get my beauty sleep instead of chasing a wild goose the whole night. Nite nite....

Sherilyn Trying To Fight For Attention?

Sherilyn has been really hard on me lately. She cries super easily, especially when any of her demands are not met instantly. She is still resisting our new maid - she only wants to sit next to me during meal times, she does not allow the maid to feed her, only wants me to bathe her and only wants me to wash her bum. When our maid tries to be helpful and feeds her, Sher tends to scold the maid and turn her head away. During meal times, she does not even allow me to read the newspapers as she will push her chair right next to me (with her chair almost touching mine) and place her bowl on top of my newspapers. When I pushed her bowl a little further, she will start wailing. She is really breathing down my neck and not giving me any space to breathe with her constant whining, whims and fancies. The Chinese say that she is trying to 'charng far' (which literally means fighting for attention from the new baby) with her soon-to-arrive new baby sister. Fortunately, Alycia is not at all like Sherilyn now. She has 'sarng seng' (matured in thoughts) so much and does not give me much problems now.

Acne Treatment

I have always been blessed with a clear complexion and the only time that I suffered from acne was during the first 4 months of my pregnancy – all 3 of them. The acne outbreaks were quite bad and I was really upset with my complexion. I was really tempted to apply over-the-counter topical acne creams which contained Benzoyl Peroxide but I was really apprehensive of the side effects it will have on the fetus. I surfed the internet for acne treatments but found no conclusive and convincing answer on the safety of Benzoyl Peroxide when used during pregnancy. As I did not want to second-guess myself, I just left the acne untreated. Luckily the acne cleared as my pregnancy progressed. Did you suffer from acne during your pregnancy?

Heard Of A Barebones Computer?

Lately, I have been pondering whether I should get myself a laptop. The main reason why I’d like to get a laptop is that I can work in my bedroom at night when the kids are asleep. It would be easier for me to run to Sherilyn and my newborn baby when they cry. The only factor that is holding me back from buying a laptop is the cost. The cheapest and most basic laptop costs a few thousand Ringgit and that is way beyond my budget. Maybe I should get a barebones computer to be placed in my bedroom as it can save me a substantial sum. If you have not heard of what a barebones computer is, check it out at easyasmypc.com. It’s basically a ‘bare’ computer that you have to assemble the computer components yourself. Sounds difficult? No. The assembly instructions are guaranteed to be easy to read and understand. Now, I am really tempted to get one. I have friends who can help me assemble the computer and all I need to do is just buy them lunch or dinner.

Sweet Cherry Jogger

I was shopping for baby stuff with Sherilyn at Jaya Jusco on Friday when we passed by the department that displays strollers and prams. When Sherilyn saw the Sweet Cherry jogger that I wanted to buy, she immediately climbed onto it and refused to get down.

Sherilyn has not been pushed on a stroller for more than a year and she really misses her rides on one. I used to strap her onto her pram occasionally when I went running in the morning. She also misses being treated like a baby.

I plan to get a jogger soon so that I can resume my daily running sessions 2 months post-delivery (for c-section delivery, it's best to rest the womb and wound for 2 months). However, hubby is not too keen that I go running with his precious baby strapped in a jogger for fear of the baby being snatched. Well, it's either he gets me a jogger or a threadmill - I'll ask which he prefers! I really need to get back into shape and feel fit and healthy again.

I Want To Do My Homework Too

Each time I coach Alycia in her homework, Sherilyn will go "I want to do my homework too!" And she will look for her exercise book and try to do whatever her cheh cheh is doing. I bought her an exercise book with boxes and she does her writing, scribbling and drawing in the book. She will even pretend that her imaginary teacher gave her homework to do.

Whenever my mum is here, Sherilyn will even call my mum "teacher, teacher" as she fights for attention. Sher can be quite distractive asking loads of questions and demanding for this and that each time I teach Alycia. It's difficult to be answering both her endless questions and teaching Alycia in her homework simultaneously. People say a 2nd child is always aggresive and is an attention seeker and I find it so true with Sherilyn. I wonder how she will behave when her little sister arrives in 1.5 week's time.

Mount Up Your TV To Save Space

Since we will be moving to a condominium soon, I think we will need to mount our TV onto the wall, both in our living room and in our bedroom with a plasma tv mount to save space. I think we will even need to mount our DVD player onto the wall since space is really scarce in a condominium. If we get a plasma TV mount, I’ll get one that can swivel so that we can have a better view of the TV no matter where we are seated.
