Treating Vertigo Naturally

A few weeks ago, my 70-year old mum suddenly had a bout of dizzy spell while doing marketing at the wet market in Ipoh. She was with my dad. She informed my dad to cut short the marketing and to head home straight as she could not even walk unassisted by my dad.  Once home, she immediately popped 2 capsules of Super Lutein with a packet of Izumio hydrogen water.  To her amazement, the dizziness disappeared within less than an hour!   She was then fit enough to bake bread and even cooked lunch.

Mum was so excited that she immediately messaged me to share the good news with me on how Izumio and Super Lutein had saved her again from a trip to the doctor's office. She hates the side effects of drowsiness and nauseousness caused by the anti-giddiness drugs. Plus a visit to a private doctor on a Sunday would have cost her a bomb too.

Vertigo is a specific type of dizziness that is characterized by the sudden sensation that you are spinning or that the world around you is spinning. The feeling can come and go or it can last for hours or days. Along with the dizziness, people may also experience nausea or vomiting, headaches, double vision or a racing heartbeat.

A few days ago, the mil suddenly felt dizzy in the morning. She skipped swimming and just lay listless on the bed. I was hesitant to offer her Izumio and Super Lutein as she's not one who trusts MLM products. In the evening, she told me that she would like to try the products as she, like my mum hates the side-effects of the drugs. After 2 days on the products, she was well enough to cook and bake again.  Today is the forth day and she's feeling better than ever. She just whipped up a sumptuous dinner and baked 2 batches of Madeleines for the girls' lunch boxes tomorrow. Yesterday she baked scones for us.  Awesome grandma she is!

Each carton has 30 packets of 200ml izumio hydrogenated water

Each bottle has 100 capsules

To throw my modesty into the wind, Izumio and Super Lutein are life-saving products!   If you or anyone that you know of are suffering from vertigo, do give these products a try. There is no harm in consuming something natural with no fillers, binders and additives. These products do not add load to your kidneys and liver. In fact, we have kidney patients who have been doing very well after consuming the products.

To find out more about the products, you can visit this Facebook page.  A lot of information can be found there. If you are interested to buy the products or interested to do this business, you can email me at shireenyong@gmail.com

You can also read more about the products by clicking on the label 'Izumio Hydrogen Water and Super Lutein' at the end of this post or on the right hand side of the side bar.

Mr Poker Coffee @ Sri Petaling

During a one-day public holiday some time last month, the foodie hubster brought us to a new cafe for his weekly indulgence in gourmet coffee and cakes.

This hip cafe is a poker fan's dream place to be in. Mr Poker Coffee is bedecked with everything from playing cards to rocking horses, circa-1970s TV sets to Bruce Lee  memorabilia, Hello Kitty playing cards to a portrait of the Mona Lisa sipping coffee.

Cakes are served on plates resembling a playing card and the card symbols on each plate are powdered chocolate.

Coffee and tea are served with home-made dried pineapple slices.

A collection of playing cards dating back to the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s are framed up and decked up to the top of the wall.

Self-Pampering Session On A Thursday - 14 July 2016

About 3 weeks ago, I went for my first ever foot spa. However, I had to cut short the session and omit the nail filing and painting to rush home to wait for Drama Queen and Cass after the transporter dropped them off.  The pedicurist spent a frigging 2 hours just to clean my feet that were severely beaten-up, dry with cracks and consequently had paint and calligraphy ink imbedded in between the cracks, no thanks to the three monkeys at home. She wanted to proceed with the nails but I told her that I'd go back to continue with the pedicure.

After just a week, my feet (that go through lots of 'rough conditions' everyday) turned unsightly again. No wonder the pedicurist advised me to have a foot spa once a week.  I will most likely settle for a bi-monthly treatment to keep my feet well maintained. It's an instant self gratification that gives me so much satisfaction just looking at how good my feet look now 😁😍

Today I had another foot spa and pedicure session. I slept through almost the entire 2 hours session. HAHA! See how chronically sleep deprived I am!  Sofia had to wake me up several times to ask me questions.

For the nail art, I chose Hello Kitty, my favorite childhood Sanrio character and pink - my favorite color :)

Foot make-over  and I am loving my feet now 😍

Next up, I will be doing a make-over of my waist-length hair. I have made inquires on the prices just now and will try to squeeze out a couple of hours after the girls' exam to have a hair make-over :D

Our Sunday - 10 July 2016

Today is the last day of Raya holiday.  In exactly a week's time, Drama Queen and Cass will be sitting for yet another school exam.

While the girls slept in, I, as usual got up early to begin my slavery duties.

In between moping floor and doing laundry, I had sips of organic lemon tea steeped with wild blue pea flowers.

No automatic alt text available.

Lunch was Korean food with friends.

Back home, I spent a couple of tormenting hours revising BM language with Drama Queen and Cass while losing my voice screaming. I think my blood pressure went up a few notches.  I could feel my heart flutter a little bit more too after an evening of talking and screaming.  While seated at the table going through the same old Tatabahasa (Malay grammar) with them, I was wishing that my day will very soon come where Drama Queen and Cass can independently revise on their own. I just want to put my legs up and have a relaxing massage on my massage chair on a Sunday with zero stress.

Dinner was all the heated up left-over food, doggy-bagged from restaurants over the past few days while the mil had a night out with her SILs.

Dessert  for the girls was grandma's homemade bread with granny's homemade kaya.   Drama Queen and Cass pleaded to help to slice the bread with me standing next to them and watching over them like a hawk and telling them to keep their fingers away from the knife, lest they slice off their fingers in excitement with the samurai long bread knife. It was their first time slicing a loaf of bread.

Brand New Swatch Watch For Drama Queen

Drama Queen's Swatch watch has been acting up strangely lately.  I brought it to the Swatch watch shop at Mid Valley Megamall yesterday to have it fixed and what do we know?

We were in for a surprise!!

As her watch is still under the 2-year warranty, she got a brand new replacement watch that looks similar to the old one!!

Had we gone to the Swatch watch shop just a month later, we would have missed the warranty as the warranty is expiring next month.

Below - drama queen choosing her brand new replacement Swatch watch.

Image may contain: 1 person, standing

Caveat - a replacement watch would NOT be given IF the glass of the watch is shattered.  Drama Queen is REALLY lucky that despite dropping her watch several times, the glass of her watch wasn't shattered. Nothing else was broken, except that the watch acted strangely.

Drama Queen is one very lucky girl to have received a brand new Swatch watch to replace her faulty one.  Princess Alycia was green with envy and wished that her Swatch watch would die on her too so that she gets a new one!  She has one more month to wish for it stop short so that she gets a brand new Swatch watch as replacement. Grandma bought them each a Swatch watch 2 years ago.

Our Sunday - 3 July 2016

Today's sermon in church was on a very apt family-related topic which struck a chord with the girls and me. Hopefully after this deep and meaningful sermon, the girls will have a better sense of responsibility at home.

After church, we had Japanese food at Lao Jiulou: 老酒楼 Old Restaurant to tuck into our favorite comfort food.

Lao Juilou is run by a Japanese, Seiji Fujimoto - a ramen specialist.  This humble eatery is like a cool hybrid of an old-fashioned Japanese izakaya and a roadside Chinese hole-in-the-wall. But the interior is less than dingy. Lao Juilou serves up dishes that are very homely and one that you would expect to come from your grandma or mother.  So homely and reasonably priced are the food that you really wouldn't mind dining there every other day. And yep, the food is kids-friendly and we have never had that unquenchable thirst after eating the food. Though it is opened by a Japanese and serve mainly Japanese morsel, many of the dishes have Chinese components in them.

Below - Special Rice is a combo of minced pork, carrots, french beans, julienned wood fungus and waxed sausage, all steamed in a bowl together with the rice.  This tastes very homely (with no overpowering sauces and MSG) and not salty at all. Omit the sausage and this would be a perfect and well-balanced dish for kids.

Below - pork gyoza, available steamed or pan-fried. Both are super delicious. Pillowy-plump and juicy with soft skin, lip-smacking when savored with julienned ginger and vinegar.  This is Alycia's all-time favorite and we always order 3-4 plates at one sitting. She can eat nothing else but gobble down 10 of these!

Below- Tonkatsu ramen - cheap and yummy.  One can satiate his/her craving for many bowls of ramen at Lao Juilou without breaking one's wallet.

Photo credit - Eat Drink KL.

After lunch at Lao Juilou, we segued into Palmier Patisserie Cafe, located just a few shops away. Palmier is a French patisserie that's Australian inspired. Here you'll  find delectable and freshly baked pastries, paninis, pies, tarts and cakes and of course gourmet coffee.

After lunch, we dropped by at the newly opened Domino's Pizza at our neighborhood to grab their buy-1-free-1 pizza promotion.  Take-out pizza was for the girls' dinner.  As for me, I was SO stuffed from lunch that I only ate capsicum, tomatoes and cucumbers for dinner.

Check out the 2 camera shy big girls *rolls eyes*

Back home, Drama Queen and Cass continued with their books' 'house moving' from their bedroom onto our new teak wood book shelf shipped from Chiangmai, which arrived on Saturday. They have only moved a quarter of their 'treasure' onto the shelf and with three quarters remaining, we would need another shelf to house another one quarter of their books collection. Very soon, we can turn our house into a mini library!

Home-Cooked Dinner - 27 June 2016 (Specialty - Nyonya Acar Fish)

Folks, this is another food-related post: home-cooked one.  Have you been missing my post and pictures on home-cooked dishes?   :P

Mouth-watering dishes wok-ed up by the mil - Nyonya acar fish (for the adults),  pan fried silver mullet fish and fish roe (for the kiddos), blanched lady fingers, roast pork and 'char siew' and steamed egg.

Image may contain: food

Nyonya acar fish is a long lost and forgotten dish that is lip-smacking and whets your appetite. My late maternal grandma used to be a very talented cook and prepared this dish exceptionally well.  After her demise in 1992, I have never come across this dish anymore and soon forgot about the existence of this dish UNTIL the hubs bought it for me  during my 3 weeks stay in the hospital with Cass at GMC Penang in May 2008.  The hubs randomly walked into a 'chap fan' (economy rice) shop along Macalister Street and randomly packed several yummy dishes  to bring them to me while I was holed up in the hospital. The 3 weeks holed up in the hospital staring at a sickly 13-month old baby and the four walls and praying that Cass would get well soon was depressing. The only thing I could look forward to was the surprises that the hubs would bring back to the room to cheer me up everyday.   Since that day that I tasted this acar fish, we have been patronizing this 'chap fan' shop whenever we made a trip to Penang for Cass' check-up.

During our recent holiday in Penang, the hubs made a trip back to this 'chap fan' shop on Macalister Street and had a few yummy dishes tapau-ed back to Ipoh for my parents. It was then that my dad parted this recipe to the MIL.  When we returned to KL, the mil tried the recipe and it turned out pretty well.

Image may contain: food

Acar fish (which literally translates to pickled fish) is essentially fried fish topped with fried slices of garlic, ginger and tumeric, with a sauce composed of vinegar and sugar. It’s usually garnished with red and green chillies, but we omitted the chillies.  I bought a good quality rice vinegar made in Japan for this dish.

The mil used silver mullet fish for this dish, fried to sheer crispiness for the added more-ishness.

It is pretty simple to prepare this dish. Just fry the fish and with the remaining oil, add in the sugar, vinegar and ginger.  Pour sauce over fish. Some people leave the fish in a jar with the sauce, like how they would prepare acar. Ours is a simplified and fuss-free version.

You can google Acar Fish / Nyonya Acar Fish recipe and you'll get a handful of recipes. Choose one that is easiest for you to prepare.  You can use ready made powdered turmeric like ours or you can slice up some fresh turmeric.

Below - stir-fried mustard green leaves with the mil's homemade fish paste.

Parents' Day At Alycia's High School And Lunch At Jalan Tun HS Lee Hawkers Gallery

Last Saturday I attended Cass and Drama Queen's parents' day and report card collection in school.

A week later, yesterday,  it was Alycia's turn.  Alycia has been going to this high school for six months and yesterday was only the second time I had gone to her school.  Compared to her primary school, I must say that I am pretty impressed with the high school, which is a far cry from public schools. It is clean, really huge and well facilitated.

I was not allowed by the big princess to snap any of her picture in school. Fine by me.  So I took pictures of Cass instead.  She insisted on following me to her che che's high school to explore and boy was she impressed. Let's see if Cass and Drama Queen get accepted into the school.

Image may contain: 1 person

On the big princess' results, I had expected her to be getting  only mediocre marks and positioning as she had only put in less than average effort. Well, my guess was right!  She seems to be really enjoying high school and I have never seen her this RELAXED in her 6 years of primary schooling in an SBT  primary school (Sekolah Berprestasi Tinggi / high prestige school).

Good or bad?  Well, her dad says she should be enjoying school and should never be pressured to excel.  He is not expecting to get As from his princess either. He only wants her to be happy and get reasonable grades without failing in any subjects.  While me, the baddie as usual, am really not too pleased with her grades. After meeting her teacher, I now understand why she is so relaxed coz her teacher has a very relaxed disposition and outlook! And  she told me that she does not like to put pressure on her students.  Aha, no wonder laaa!!

Good or bad?

This is very subjective, I think. Agree?  What are your views on this?

Good grades is not everything in life but good attitude is, I am always told.

Anyway, after spending over 3 hours waiting in school, the foodie hubs brought us on his foodie trail again. This time he brought us to sweat it out at the Jalan Tun H.S. Lee hawkers gallery (at Petaling Street) to tuck into the famous Madras Lane Chee Cheong Fun and famous curry noodles.

Dinner At Kok Thai Restaurant, Ipoh - 6 June 2016

Our trip up North (Ipoh and Penang) from 6 - 9 June 2016 was a food-filled one, enjoyed with all the people whom I love.  Though nerve-racking for me coz of Cass' impending ultrasound scan of her kidneys and urinary tract at GMC Penang on 7 June, the trip was otherwise fun-filled with us making stops at all our favorite eateries in Ipoh and Penang to tuck into our favorite food.

On 6 June, we had dinner at Kok Thai Restaurant, Ipoh.

Here goes all the mouth-watering dishes for you to droooool on :P

''Toong Took Kai" or Standing Chicken, which is roast spring chicken impaled on a metal skewer.  Since the spring chicken was pretty tiny, we ordered two and both chickens were completely gnawed down to the bones! They were however not finger licking good as we were given disposable plastic gloves to savour the chicken by ripping it off however way we want it to without making a mess of our hands.  It was fun for all of us as it was our first time eating roast chicken served this way,  fit for a king!  This dish is the bomb!

Deep fried fish filled spread atop a bed of chee cheong fun with superior soy sauce. This dish is another bomb!

My Friday - 17 June 2016

In the morning, the hubs suddenly suggested to have breakfast with me.  But I  had an appointment at 10ish am with a friend at Gardens.  Never reject your man when he asks you out, right?

Yeah, right!

So we had a quick breakfast of char koay teow...

Image may contain: food

Porky soup noodles with added white pomfret fish that hubs bought from a fish seller opposite the coffee shop.  He told the pork noodles seller to cook the fish and add it into this noodles. And the bowl of noodles turned out to be really yummy!

Image may contain: food

Kampar fishball noodles with fish balls and 'liu'...

Image may contain: food

After a quick breakfast, I sped home, quickly boiled a pot of barley water at super high flame coz I was in a hurry. Had a change of clothes and then sped off to Gardens to meet my friend and then had a quick dose of retail therapy  before speeding home to wait for Drama Queen and Cass to come back from school.

The entire afternoon was spent on the computer and studying the Naturally Plus business system. I feel like I am back at college again having to study and understand a business system but this is much  more rewarding than studying in the college as I get to earn moolah.  It is the passive income that spurs me to keep going and to never give up however tough it may be to be juggling with this business on top of an online store, a household, 3 high-demand kids and blogging :)

Izumio To The Rescue

With all the heavenly Penang and Ipoh ambrosia that we pigged out on over the past one week, I am so relieved that none of us is down with sore throat nor did we develop any nasty reaction to the rich and heaty food.  We feasted on  crabs and prawns almost daily - big and succulent ones. Those crabs were bursting with roe too, which doubled the lethalness!  I hope my overload on seafood  doesn't spike up my cholesterol level (I have genetic high cholesterol if case you missed out on my earlier posts).   And satay, Ipoh curry noodles, fried lobak, fried spring chicken, sausages and pizzas too. On our way back from Ipoh, hubs made a stop-over at the Sg Buloh R&R and we had Burger King - set meals with piles of deep fried junk fries.  The girls stuffed them into their mouths like they were gold, quickly gobbling them down, lest I stopped them.  The girls ate their fast food like they were some just released inmates who hadn't tasted such scrumptious food for yonks. Forbidden food always tastes so good, don't they? Haha!

I am thankful that I have Izumio hydrogen water and Super Lutein to help us stay in top form during our holiday.

Below - Cass helping me cart boxes of Izumio and Super Lutein to my waiting customer at our condo lobby during the school holiday.

Image may contain: 1 person

Hydrogen is the smallest atom in the chemical chart making it perfect for accessing the deepest darkest parts of the body (mitochondrial cells) where others cannot reach. Every chromosome, amino acid and protein block in our bodies need Hydrogen to build good quality cells

Hydrogen has also a pH balancing effect on the body not turning acid into alkaline at all, but balancing the equilibrium of the body whilst flushing out acidic toxins through sweat and urine. In short, normal water has been helping us do this all our lives but Izumio is much, much stronger.

Super Lutein is essentially the extract of vegetable essence encapsulated in a sealed soft gel capsule completely safe for babies. It has more than 11 ingredients from top quality Lutein (best in the world) to other carotenoids from tons of fruit and vegetables that one could never eat in a day. The capsules can be swallowed or chewed and taste like a mixture of fish oil and dark leafy green vegetables.

Our family has been consuming both Izumio and Super Lutein for slighly over a year now. I am so glad that my friend gave some to Cass to try.  Now there is no looking back for me. I am already consuming them for free now and would love to consume them for as long as we can.

My bonus from Naturally Plus..

Each product is RM435 at retail price.
One product is defined as 1 box of Izumio of 30 packets (200ml each) OR 1 bottle of Super Lutein (100 capsules).

Members can get them at a much cheaper price.  I can  teach you how to get them at an even cheaper price or FREE just by sharing.

Just give me a call at 019-266 4290 or email me at shireenyong@gmail.com to find out more.

No obligation.

Who knows? It could be what you have been looking for all these while.  When my friend gave me a box of Izumio for Cass to try, I didn't really think it could do SO much for her and us :)

Short Holiday In Penang (7-8 June 2016)

Pictures taken during our holiday in Penang from 7 - 8 June 2016:

Below - Alycia and Sherilyn playing badminton on the beach.

Image may contain: outdoor

Below - Cass collecting seashells with daddy by the beach. Surprisingly daddy still likes seashells! Well, I still love seashells as well.  Seashells remind me of the wonderful time I spent with my papa when he brought my brothers and I to Golden Sands @ Pangkor Island for a holiday many, many, many moons back. I was about 6 years old and I remember that the Golden Sands beach was really beautiful, pristine and impeccably clean.  We could swim in the crystal clear sea water without getting that itch on our body.  I remember waiting for the waves to come and sweep us away with my papa catching me when I was thrown by the waves into the sea water. Those days were so carefree and happy.  I also remember picking up really pretty, big and perfect seashells, which my mum still keeps them up until today!  Our girls marveled at those perfect seashells, which still look shiny and unflawed though they were sitting untouched in a dark corner for almost 4 decades!

Image may contain: 1 person, outdoor

I can never get enough by gazing at the ocean. It just gives me a sense of serenity, calmness and relaxation with my worries and woes gently swept away by the sea water.   When I look into the ocean, I perfectly understand why my friend and her hubby sold all that they have and used up all their savings to open a diving resort in Perhentian Island. They now live on the island with their 2 kids, who are home-schooled.

Image may contain: one or more people, sky, outdoor and water

After some seaside activities, the foodie hubs ordered some light snacks of satay and pizza.  We were anticipating some less than tasty hotel food but we were so wrong. The satay was perfectly grilled - tender, tasty and without a tinge of burnt meat on it. The pizza was yummylicious too. We thoroughly enjoyed the food though we were really stuffed from what we ate at Sin Kheng Aun,  Rainforest and Mugshot in the afternoon... not forgetting those Apong Guan which I stuffed myself gloriously in vengeance for missing it for 2 years.

Image may contain: food and indoor

We all love Penang. If we could afford a luxury condo along Gurney Drive, I really wouldn't mind moving to Penang to stay. Everyday would feel like a holiday whenever I look out of the window to gaze at the ocean.
