Hairy Crabs From Hong Kong

The special scissors and chopsticks for eating crabs.

When my sil from HK came a couple of days ago, she brought along some live hairy crabs (tai chak hai). Though I'd seen them when we went to Hong Kong 2 years ago, but we didn't get a chance to eat them. I'd badly wanted to sample them but again, I can't try them as I'm preggers now. It was indeed very hard to resist my temptation seeing everyone eating piping hot steamed fresh hairy crabs with special black vinegar sauce and ginger that my sil had prepared. They looked so good, especially the creamy yellow crab roe oozing out from the crabs. Torture!

Wow...how did she manage to carry them back? She's allowed to? You could try just a piece, i guess. no harm right, though I was advised not to take it when i was preggy...hehehehe

Mei Ling... shell food have high risk of Listeria, a kind of bacteria.

Barb... yes, the Immigration allowed her to. I just took one miserable bite and the flesh tasted so sweet!

Mamajo... yup, hairy crabs carry a lot of bacteria.
