Baby C Eating Toast With Black Sesame Seed Bread Spread

My mum was eating toast with black sesame seed bread spread on Sunday. When Baby saw granny eating the toast, she pointed to the toast to tell us that she wanted to eat too. Granny gave her a bite and to my surprise, she liked it, though the black sesame bread spread was sugar-free. The bread was sugar-free too. And she kept asking for more!

Showing the forefinger's up sign (meaning good!)..... and it was tedious cleaning her mouth and teeth after she was done with the toast.

Another Bib

We were at Babyland PJ last week to get Baby a 3-in-1 cup (sippy cup, cup with teat and cup with straw) and then I strayed again and got another bib with food catcher to add into my collection of bibs hehe.

I got this bib coz I liked the colors too much...

Here's how the bib will look like when it's buttoned up. Sher used to have a bib like this too with another motif and it lasted her more than 2 years.

Binge Eating Weekend

It's going to be a binge eating weekend for me. My parents from Ipoh will be arriving soon, my brother and sil from Singapore will be arriving soon too. My parents have bought all our favorite Ipoh hawkers' food and we will be having those for lunch. My mil is now making kau cee (dumplings)again and she has also made a pot of red bean-mung bean tong sui. Thinking of all those yummy food is making my tummy rumble.... haha, see this fei por, thinking about food all the time! Tonight, we will be having a sumptuous dinner at a Chinese restaurant to celebrate my dad's birthday in advance. Then there will be a cake-cutting and candle-blowing session. Tomorrow there's another round of eating. Oh boy, I can't even sleep a little longer on Sunday coz I have to wake up early to jog those extra calories away!

How's your weenkend going? If you're going to binge eat too, remember to EXERCISE too hehe!

Furious!

This is yet another post on my maid. Please don't judge me by passing unkind remarks/comments coz you have not seen what kind of person my maid is and what horrid things she can do and had done to us, especially to my kids. If you do not like to read stories about my maid, you can stop reading now.

Remember my earlier post ranting about the hubs and I facing some problems with our maid agent as the agent's former hubby screwed up our maid's application, lost her passport and did not do a host of other things? Well, I think the agent managed to fix the problem. I also mentioned that for the sake of money, we will just bear with our maid and perhaps renew her contract for another year? Well, everyone in the family have had enough of my maid's nonsense and eccentricity. She is just too stubborn and doesn't want to turn over a new leaf, despite umpteen warnings to her.

This morning just as I was entering the house after my morning jogging session, Sher kept calling me and in her birthday suit, ran out of the bathroom to greet me. The maid ran towards Sher and just when she thought I wasn't looking, she pulled a handful of Sher's hair towards her very roughly, as if she were pulling the wings of a chicken that is running.... and with an evil look on her face (which really sent goosebumps all over my body).... to prevent Sher from running and this made Sher cry out in pain. When I saw that shocking act, I yelled at my maid and guess what? This idiot vehemently and persistently denied pulling Sher's hair! How dare she deny it when I saw it with my own eyes. Our maid has a very terrible and irritating habit of denying all her wrong doings even if we saw her doing them right in front of us. The commotion woke the hubs up from his sleep. He was enraged. He told our maid to get out of the house but I stopped him as there is currently a bunch of Indon workers painting the buidling at our condo. This will only give her the opportunity to elope with one of them. He gave the maid a very good lecture and our maid still mati-mati denied pulling Sher's hair!

Yesterday, the maid almost broke my mil's blood vessel. She has a habit of saying "yah, yah, yah" to all our instructions and most times, doesn't even bother to answer us.... which really infuriates me talking to someone who doesn't respond. After my mil had given her very specific instructions not to wash the peanuts in cold water but to soak them in hot water, to which the maid said "yah, yah, yah", she turned back and washed the peanuts in cold water!

Yesterday, the maid gave me a scare and of course sent my temper hitting the roof when she yanked Baby's bib off her neck causing part of the back of Baby's neck to bleed. The skin at the back of Baby's neck got pinched by the fastener of the hard plastic bib (and the skin came off), and poor Baby wailed out in pain. Until today, Baby is still having phobia of wearing her bib.

We have all had enough of this crazy maid's wierd behaviour and stubborness. I can no longer stand hearing her yell and scold my kids the whole day long as if she were their evil stepmum. I have told her many, many times that if she continues to scold and hit them, the gals will only hate her more but she has turned a deaf ear on my advise. Now we all know why her previous employer's mil hit her. I was on the verge of pulling her hair this morning. We will be sourcing for a replacement though it would mean digging deeper into our pockets.

Homemade Shanghai Dumplings

My mil is a great cook. Lately, she's into making kau cee or Shanghai dumplings and they taste really good.... as good as the ones sold in Chinese restaurants. She's going to make another batch this Saturday coz my parents will be here. If you want to try making them, here are some pix and the recipe (though no specific measurement is used):

Get a packet of wheat cake wrapper. She normally gets this one and it's made in Japan and cost RM6.50 a packet for 24 pieces.

Mix the minced pork with an egg (beaten), some sesame seed oil, pepper, oyster sauce, soy sauce, a dash of brown sugar to taste and some watercress that has been boiled.
To test the taste - steam / microwave a spoonful. Then add further sugar, soy sauce or seasoning to taste before wrapping the meat with the wheat cake wrapper/sheets.

My mil wrapping up the kau cees. She uses a dab of water to seal the sheets.

To cook the kau cees, boil a pot of water and dump the kau cees into the boiling water. When the kau cees float to the surface, they are cooked.

Serve the kau cees hot with finely sliced ginger and black vinegar.

Neroteca Italian Restaurant

We had lunch at Neroteca with hubs' movie star friend last Sunday. Here're what we had:

Grigliata Mista - grilled pork chop, spare ribs, sausages and bacon with rustic potatoes and a green sauce that really tantalized my palate. Very meaty with lots of olive oil and very tasty. Didn't quite like the pork chop as it was a tad tough.

Linguine pesto and prawns - very yummy.

Spaghetti carbonara with bacon, eggs and parmesan cheese - nothing to shout about.

Tiramisu, the authentic with Marsala and Mascarpone - iLike...

Pistachio Gelato but there wasn't a bit of pistachio... tasted like caramel, nice anyway.

The restaurant. Not really the right place to go to with toddlers and babies, great place for love birds though.

Neroteca is located next to Somerset Sri Conlay, KL.

Goodies From My Cousin

My cousin Su Zan (who was my bridesmaid) came to visit me last week. I've not seen her for a very long time and we finally reunited in Facebook several months ago. This generous cousin of mine brought along so many gifts and goodies when she visited:

She got me my favorite super soft Japanese cheesecake from Bangsar Village...

A fresh-from-the-oven banana cake also from Bangsar Village...

She knew I love multi-grain bread and she got me a loaf, also from BV.....

... beautiful cupcakes from Bijoux, a newly opened bakery in Bangsar Village....

... a sweet frock for Baby C and Princess stationery sets for Aly and Sher. Baby kept running and climbing and this is the best shot I could snap, with her in the new frock, with part her head cropped.

Thanks cuz Su Zan for all the gifts. It was really good meeting you, your baby Alicia and to catch up. The next time we meet, no need to bring so much goodies k? I'll get you the UCC coffee k?

Alycia My Best Assistant

I rely on Alycia a lot to help me babysit Baby... coz when Baby has her jie jie inside the playpen with her, she will kuai kuai play with her toys or just let jie jie hug her, kiss her and do silly things with her. This gives me a peace of mind whilst I have my shower or dinner.

Lately, Alycia has volunteered to clear up and wipe the dining table before dinner. It's been almost a week now and she's still loving it. See how earnest Alycia is here and she's quite thorough too, wiping every part of the dining table and rinsing the table cloth several times... though the cloth was a tad too wet and there was water dripping from the floor of the kitchen to the dining area. Yesterday, Sherilyn followed suit and helped to wipe the table but after wiping the table with a wet cloth, this fler used her pants to wipe the table dry by sitting on the dining table and moving her butt on the table muahahahah!

Our Sunday

Everything went quite smoothly this morning and I thought we would arrive in church just on time but when I opened up Baby's diaper to check just before I left the house, dang dang dang.... there was poop in her diaper, aiyah! Then my maid told me there was poop on my clothes, oh shit... poop on my white spaghetti strap top, oh no!! I quickly washed Baby up, dress her up again, removed my top and washed off the poop but the poop stain was still on it, so I soaked it with some detergent, quickly dressed up again and hurried to the church and we were late again *gasp*. No matter how early I wake up, no matter how fast I hurry up, something has to crop up each Sunday. After church, we were supposed to eat in PJ as I had wanted to get something for Baby from Babyland but hubs got a call from his friend who asked us to join him for lunch at an Italian restaurant called Neroteca (located next to Somerset Sri Conlay serviced apartments).... so off we went to join his friend, handsome star of Sepet. Thankfully there was no road block, no traffic congestion and no demo in town. Traffic was really smooth coz everyone shunned away from KL today. Shall post pix in my next post.

How was your Sunday?

All Work And Little Play

Alycia has Ting Xie, Spelling and Ejaan every single week, for the past 5 months. Each day, she has to memorize different words. The number of words for her spelling have increased from a handful to 12 now. On most mornings before she leaves for pre-school, I will go through the Ting Xie / Spelling / Ejaan with her. What boring life for a 5.5-year old kid eh? All work and very little play.... and I even hardly have time to read story books with her now coz the homework load from her pre-school is already taking up all her time.

Here she is practising her Ting Xie just before leaving for school..... with 2 swollen eye lids. Don't know what bit her.... they didn't seem like mozzie bites, maybe some insects or dust mite, I don't know. Her eye lids were swollen for almost a week and now recovering.

Tis The Season To Indulge

What I like about the months of July and August is that it's the durian season, also mangosteen, rambutan and langsat. These are all my favorite fruits and for as long as these fruits are in season, there will always be these fruits in our house, more so if my mil is around coz she loves them too and would buy them whenever she sees them selling by the road.

The end result? A pound or two gained and extra minutes clocked in jogging every morning. What to do, I so love durians and I feel so sorry for myself if I see a packet of musang king sitting in the fridge each time I open the fridge door.... so I will not torture myself but will indulge in it and work on the flab the next morning haha!

Punished Again

Sherilyn was punished again. This time round, she spilled her cup of orange juice which I had juiced for her.... AGAIN, yup again! I tell ya, this fler spills drinks 9 out of 10 times. I knew she would spill her juice and I kept reminding her to drink her cup of juice but as usual, I think she wasn't listening. She was just being too playful and doing some monkey business and then dang, dang, dang, dang, SPLASSSSSSHHHHHH!!!! I was enraggggggedd! How I hate to clean up messes caused by sticky juices, milk and soy bean milk. You need a few rounds of moping to remove the stickiness completely. I punished her and asked her to stand in the bathroom with another cup of water and made her finish the cup of water in the bathroom.

I don't think this would deter Sher the menace from spilling drinks in future. I now stand next to her with a cane in hand and make sure she finishes her juice immediately haha!

She Thinks It's The Right Thing To Do

Baby C thinks that sniffing a diaper is the right thing to do hahaha..... coz she's been seeing mummy doing it since she was 7 weeks old. If you are a follower of my blog, you will know why I sniff Baby's soiled diapers.... and I am still doing it... like 15-20 times a day! Don't you say it's disgusting coz it's life-saving !

Baby C would sniff a diaper each time she gets hold of one. I better stop smelling her soiled diapers in front of her, otherwise she would continue to follow suit, LOL!

A Gift For Baby C

I received a parcel of surprise last week. This lovely mummy sent some very pretty hair clips for Baby C and a get well soon card. How very thoughtful of her. Thanks very much Chanel!

The hair clips did not manage to stay long on Baby C's hair... in fact nothing stays on her head or hair for she will be pulling off every single hair accessory that's put on her head.

Guess who got really excited to see the hair clips and can't wait to put them on her hair? I think you would have guessed it right if you've been following my blog.

Easy DIY Ice Popsicles

I used to DIY my own ice popsicles when I was little. My brothers and I would pour in some Sunquick orange or Ribena into a cup, dilute it with some water, put in a spoon and dump the cup into the freezer. Several hours later, we would be enjoying our homemade ice popsicles. It was cheap, easy to do and we had so much fun licking the ice popsicle. Now, I'm making those ice popsicles for my gals and they love them just as much as I did. And it's really a good way to make them drink water this way... without reminders, sweat and threats!

Alycia licking her Ribena ice popsicle made using her Tupperware plastic cup and a stainless steel spoon.

Kuihs From Bangsawan

The hubs bought a box of kuih-muih from Bangsawan @ Pavillion KL last week.

When I saw the box on the dining table, I thought it was yet another layer cake coz hubs have a liking for layer cake but when I opened the box, here's what I saw:

An assortment of very colorful kuih-muihs, each individually wrapped in plastic. I was really tempted to try the kuihs but I did not eat them as it was already way past 9pm. This health, fitness and vain freak doesn't eat anything after 9pm. Anything (especially carbo) eaten in the evening will only promote your jelly belly. I only ate them the next morning. What you see in this pic is only part of the kuihs.

Verdict : At RM1.20 per piece, I would not buy them again. I find that all the kuih tasted almost the same, which is really sweet and has santan or grated coconut in it. What I do not like is the bright food coloring used in most of the kuihs. I still prefer those homemade kuihs and kuihs with natural coloring from pandan leaves, beet root or blue flowers sold at the pasar malam or market. They are way cheaper and taste better.

Baby Loves Her BumbleBee Educational VCDs

I bought a set of BumbleBee educational VCDs for my 2 older gals 4 years ago. 2 years ago when my 2 older gals got bored of the VCDs, I had wanted to give those VCDs away as I did not plan to have #3 but as fate has it, God had blessed me with my sweetie-pie... and now, I am recycling these VCDs and find them so useful.

Here is part of the set of BumbleBee Bee Smart Baby Vocabulary Builder:

... which Baby absolutely loves. These days, she can sit still on her highchair and get really, really engrossed and focused on the TV for at least half an hour and sometimes even an hour whilst I spoon-feed her formula milk. Whilst she's all soaked up in the program, I'll quickly shove the spoonfuls of milk into her mouth lol! She has learnt quite a number of new vocab and can say out a handful of words whenever she sees the picture of the object shown on TV.

Apart from this series, BumbleBee ABCs and 123s are also in my stash of educational VCDs collection. My 2 older gals learnt their ABCs and 123s from these BumbleBee VCDs, as well as from Barney's. If you want your toddler to learn their ABCs and 123s in a fun way, I'll recommend BumbleBee and Barney. Well, they worked pretty well on my gals.

Oval Shaped Mangosteens

I never knew that mangosteens have two (or maybe more than two, I don't know) varieties. One is the round type and another is the oblong/oval shape type. The oval shaped variety of mangosteen is slightly smaller in size than the round ones. The flesh is also firmer and sweeter. The hubs bought a packet of oval shaped mangosteens the other day and I personally prefer the oval shaped ones.

Snacking After Meals

Whenever my gals have their meals, they must always end them with a dessert, not just one but several types. After their lunch or dinner, they will ransack the fridge and kitchen drawers for desserts and snacks - from ice-creams to biscuits, chips, cakes, yoghurt drinks and what nots. Can't blame them coz everyone in the family likes snacking, including moi, haha!

Sherilyn enjoying her ice-cream that mah mah bought for her. At least there is something to motivate my Miss Dilly Dally to hurry up and finish her meals but this does not work all the time. Sometimes, she would just sit on the chair at the dining table with food stored in her mouth and daydream till the cows come home for 2-3 hours!

Remembering Things With My E-Calendar

When I was working as a PA to a Dato’, I had to remember to do 101 things every day. Not that I have a good memory, in fact my memory sucks, especially after child birth. I relied a lot on my e-calendar and carried a HP Palm organizer everywhere that I went as my former boss would call me and ask me things round the clock. After I quit work, I stopped using my e-calendar. Hah, that’s when I started to forget about events and important things again. Lately, I started to use my e-calendar again as I have been forgetting to do too many important matters, including reminding hubs to renew his rv warranty. With an e-calendar, I don’t have to forget about anything anymore.
