Goodies from Singapore

My eldest brother and sil from Singapore were in KL last weekend to celebrate my dad's birthday. They had recently returned from the U.S. and had bought these goodies for us:

Who can resist them eh? Even I ate them, minus the colorful icing and decor...

Even Alycia who has tomboyish taste in fashion liked the headband and she agreed to wear it!!


...and my mum even got an original COACH handbag, which was sold at a song from the COACH factory.

My Homecooked Dishes

Though super busy with my online store, I sill cook for my kids - twice a day and I find it very taxing and time consuming. Though I have a helper, she just cannot get it right whenever I leave it to her entirely to cook. She will surely screw up something like putting chopped tomatos and onions (meant for cooking spaghetti sauce) into our pot of herbal soup!

So I've decided that from tomorrow, I will cater food for dinner. I'll try out for one month and see how it goes. According to this caterer, all her dishes are free from MSG. I'll see....

Here are some of the dishes that I whipped up last week:

Fish coated with turmeric powder and pan-fried. My kids lurve this crispy fish!

Chicken cooked ala Hainanese style with big onions and canned peas, seasoned with pepper, salt and Lea & Perrin sauce.

Square fried tofu cooked with minced chicken breast and fresh shiitake mushrooms.

Things That Only Sherilyn Will Do!

One of the things that only rascal #2 will do is to eat with her hands and mind you, it's not the refined hand-eating method like some people do. She would place the rice on her palm, then squeeze the rice as if she were making sushi or preparing dough... and after playing with her rice + dishes, she will put the yucky looking food into her mouth. This fler is known to take hours to finish her food but with food-playing, she can finish her food in a jiffy and she enjoys it too! Are all hyper-active and inquisitive kids like this?

And she even eats her porridge with her hands! GAWD... I was shocked to see her do it and this, I reprimanded her!


Rascal #2 eating rice with turmeric chicken. Can you see how terribly messy it is? And the worst part is she will scratch her head with her oily hands and send me yelling at her.. That's why she needs to shampoo her hair twice a day.

I Want To Go Inside

Baby loves books, if only I can afford the time to read to her everyday I think she would be a very good reader. Many times she gets too excited and absorbed and would tell me that she wants to get inside the book to be with the bears and animals in the story books muahahahahahaha!!!

I think she looked too cute when I saw her putting her leg on a colorful page of a Dr Seuss book the other day... and she told me "mummy, I want to go there!"

Self Entertainment

These days, Baby can entertain herself when I am too busy to entertain her. I'll just have to close one eye when she takes stuff from the kitchen to play with, like this:



Well, as long as she ain't playing with a fork, knife, scissors or anything breakable, anything is A-ok with me.... as long as she can give me 1/2 an hour of time to do some serious stuff on my computer, anything is A-ok with me haha!


And sometimes when I desperately need 15 minutes to draft an adv to submit to the advertiser before the deadline, I'd even close 2 eyes when she strews my papers everywhere on the floor....


But this fler is a sweet and thoughtful little girl... she would pick up all the papers... piece by piece when asked to clean up the mess after she's done with the excitement of strewing them everywhere!

Novel Way Of Eating Lunch

Baby and Sherilyn decided to do something new over lunch time. Instead of eating at the dining table, Sherilyn brought her food to the kitchen, pulled a chair there and sat there to eat. Baby the copy cat followed suit and both of them kwai kwai finished their food in the kitchen!



But they created a mess - food was dropped everywhere on the floor and I made #2 clean up the mess haha!

New Temp Store Assistant

She's my new temporary store assistant and the best ever... but she's only going to help me out for the next 1 week and then she'll return to her hometown :(

Yesterday was a super duper hectic day for me. My stock from 5 suppliers arrived on the same day, coincidentally. Thank God my mum is here and she helped me check the clothes, else I would have to work round the clock to check, sort and pack the clothes into Pos Laju bags. Order for the past few days have also been high. I have been working 15 hours non-stop for 2 days. I am really burnt out and jaded. I need a breakie today!

Charmed?

I read with disgust from the newspapers that a 38-year old man had married a 108-year old woman recently. The woman is old enough to be his great grandmother. I wonder if he has been charmed by the woman that made him attracted to the old woman. This old woman has had many husbands previously. She uses ‘special massages’ to prevent his man from straying. I wonder if she would use spy gear to spy on him soon, when the charm ‘loses’ its effect haha!

Sherilyn Naps The Weirdest Ways

Sherilyn, this girl of mine is super hard-headed. During the day she would refuse to nap. Even when threatened by the cane, she just won't take her nap, citing that she is not sleepy at all. If she ever naps in the afternoon, I would need to check her temperature to see if she has a fever or ask her if she's not well.

By dinner time, her batteries would be almost flat. At 8:30pm every night on end, I will say the same thing to her "quickly finish your food and drink your soup!!" She will be the last to finish her food every night. On some nights, this is what happens:

3rd Tooth Dropped

Alycia's 3rd tooth dropped early this week. It had been shaky for the past few weeks and she kept moving the tooth with her tongue and complained of pain. Finally it dropped and she was happy! I told her to wash the tooth, wrap it up in a tissue paper and put it under her pillow for the tooth fairy to give her a dollar BUT she dropped the tiny tooth... into the gap between the sofa seat and arm rest... deep down inside HAHAHAHAH!!





My helper had to use a back scratcher stick to dig it out....




Then used a spoon to scoop the tiny tooth out muahahahahaha.... I think we will all remember Alycia's 3rd tooth shedding for a long, long time :D

Potty Training Baby

I started to potty train Baby 3 days ago. The first day went quite smoothly, though she kept going to the potty every 5 minutes! The potty is placed conveniently in the living room for her to wee wee anytime she wants haha! The second and third day, she kept having small accidents. She would wet her panties throughout the day but as soon as she wet her panty, she would tell me "mummy I shee shee". I hope tomorrow onwards she will have a better control of her bladder and will have fewer accidents.

Alexis Bistro @ The Gardens

One of my favorite bistros for having cakes and coffee is Alexis Bistro. We have been a faithful patron of Alexis (there are several outlets in the Klang Valley) for almost a decade. I love their Tiramisu cake. After a not-so-satisfied lunch at TGIF @ Gardens, we headed to Alexis for dessert.

We had our favorite Tiramisu cake with strawberry sauce...


Walnut chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The walnut bits were a tad rancid and this spoilt the entire taste and flavor of the cake, what a waste....


Warm chocolate brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. This was delish!


My favorite is this slice of warm orange almond cake with vanilla ice cream. Every bite was full of ground almonds. iLike, yums!!

Fitness Junkie Finally Popped

For the past few days, the spunky woman with a huge protruding belly is no longer seen running treadmills at the gym every morning. She had given birth to her fourth baby. She is the fittest mummy I have ever met. She normally runs along side me at the gym. She would work out for an hour while I have to leave after 30 minutes as I don’t have the luxury of loitering at the gym. I can’t wait to see this lady again in the gym and I’ll bet this fitness junkie will return just after her 1-month confinement.

Kids Nap The Weirdest Ways

Alycia and Sherilyn are tops when it comes to napping. They can nap anywhere, anytime and in any position.

As usual, Alycia was so jaded after coming back from school that she dozed off while doing her homework. Life for a Chinese-ed student is pretty tough eh?

Have You Seen White Egg Yolks?

I had boiled 2 hard-boiled eggs for breakfast the other day. When I shelled the eggs and halved them, I was in for a surprise.


See the difference? Both are kampung chicken eggs (free-range chicken). But one has whitish egg yolks. Quite bizzare eh? I guess the chicken must have been a malnourished hen :D

7) I used to be a clean freak. I would check my helper's work every single day - every nook and corner! But after Baby came along and the birth of my online store, I have been so busy and burnt out that I 'no eye see' and could not be bothered whether my helper washes the toilet or not.

I’ll Need A GPS For Sure

I have not driven a car for almost 3 years now. I wonder if I still know how to operate a car!! I know I will definitely not have the guts to handle my hubby’s 7-seater MPV as it’s too long and bulky. I will feel more at ease and less stressed with a smaller car like the good ol’ and cute Kancil. I will also need a GPS to help me move around. My sense of direction sucks BIG time. I am a real retard when it comes to directions. I just lack the compass in my head! GPS are quite affordable these days but I’ll need to read up on some gps reviews before deciding which one suits me. Most drivers have a GPS installed in their vehicle now. Do you have a GPS in your vehicle too?

Not Loving Her Greens

Baby used to like veggie when she was younger and would eat just about any type of veggie. These days, she is shunning away from most of the veggie. She likes only a handful of veggie, namely leek, leek flower and 'yau mark tarm' veggie. When she was younger, she would eat raw celery, raw capsicum, brocolli and other types of veggie. Now, she will single out all these from her bowl of food.

I need to bribe and threaten Baby to eat her veggie sometimes. When she could not poo poo for a day and was refusing to eat her veggie, I took out the bottle of enema and placed it right in front of her when she was eating her lunch. She is terrified of having the enema put into her down under. But still, that did not manage to scare this hard headed Baby of mine to eat her greens, SIGH..... The only way is to chop the veggie into really really really tiny pieces... so tiny that she could just swallow them without chewing!

Pix taken 2 Saturdays ago. I had wanted to jog in the morning before the girls woke up but just as I was about to leave the house, shiats.... my 3 monkeys got up... so I ended up bringing all of them to the park and made everyone jog 3 big rounds in the park.



My princess wannabe insisted that she had to bring along her Minnie Mouse brolly... and the brolly caused a brawl and tuck of war between she and Baby, sigh!

But they patched up and played with each other later....

My kids can really doze off so easily in the most awkward of positions, anywhere, anytime!

A Beautiful Rainbow

One evening last week at about 7pm, after the rain had stopped, the sun decided to come out for a short while to put a smile on everyone's faces. We could see a big colorful arch hanging in the sky from the 5th floor of our unit. My girls were thrilled to see a rainbow in the evening. It was a rare occasion to see a rainbow and my girls , especially Baby had only seen it on the TV or in books several times in their lives.

Have you seen double rainbows in the sky at the same spot? I have and I saw it about a month ago at about 8am in the morning. I was caught in the rain while jogging. I was soaked to my bones and running as fast as I could. But when I saw the double rainbow, I was thrilled and getting drenched from head to toe didn't matter anymore. It was the first time in my life that I saw a double rainbow. That made my day :)
