Make Them Happy Through Food

What made the gals so happy here, grinning away from cheek to cheek? It's the cream puffs of course! Not only did the cream puffs make them grin but mummy too, we just love these cream puffs to pieces.

Hmmm..... so nice mummy... the cream puff....

Yummy.... mummmy.... I like it so much.

And the cream puffs motivated Miss Spitty Spat to eat her dinner. I told her that if she chews and swallows her food quickly, she gets to share a cream puff with Alycia and so she quickly gobbled up her dinner and claimed her cream puff.

Even if you are not a foodie, I am sure these mouth-watering grub would make you salivate instantly eh? Find out more here......

What's In Store Today

I woke up at 5:45am today to complete a few assignments. Today, we have to reach the church early coz Sherilyn has to go up the stage to present a Christmas pressie to the pastor. I can only hope that my little social butterfly will not chicken out the last minute as there will be a congregation of close to a thousand people watching her. When I told her a few days ago that she has to go up the stage and made her practise saying "Merry Christmas pastor" she gladly said it. She thought she will receive a pressie, LOL! I guess she doesn't know what a stage is, who a pastor is and why she has to go up the stage. I just have a feeling that she will back out last minute but praying hard that she won't and will obediently go up the stage.

After church today, hubby is bringing us to Le Meridien for lunch. He's a member of this hotel and we have never tried their restaurants before. Ok, gotta go now and buy the morning papers and have my breakfast before pulling the gals up from bed.

Banana Orange Crepe

As promised, here's the cincai recipe for the banana and orange crepe that I had whipped up :

Ingredients :
1) High protein flour (I use organic unbleached high protein flour)
2) 3 eggs
3) 4 tablespoons of toddlers milk formula (you can use fresh milk or regular milk powder)
4) Water (enough to mix everything into a batter that's not too thick nor thin)
5) 1 tablespoons of wheatgerm
6) 1 tablespoon of poppy seeds
7) 1-2 tablespoons of almond nibs
8) 1 tablespoon of pumpkin seeds
9) 3 ripe bananas - sliced
10) Freshly squeezed orange juice (1 used 1 whole medium sized orange)
11) 1-2 teaspoon of salt
12) Butter

Method :
1) Pour the flour into a large bowl
2) Pour in water and orange juice and mix well - make sure no lumps of flour left
3) Add in the 3 eggs (beaten)
4) Add in the rest of the ingredients
5) Heat up non-stick pan and put in butter
6) Use a ladle and pour out batter into the pan, scoop by scoop and pan fry the crepes under medium fire.

Serving suggestions :
Can either eat plain or eat them with your favorite jams or yohurt. My gals love eating their crepes with strawberry yoghurt (healthy alternative) and sugar-free peanut butter.

Alycia my future chef helping to prepare the batter.

Then she pours in the sliced bananas.

The batter, ready to be pan fried.

My cincai banana orange crepe - a big hit with my 2 kids!

Sleep Deprived

Didn't get to sleep much last night. Stayed up to 12:30am trying to fix the problem in sending my post to PPP but still couldn't send. I'd sent a ticket to PPP and they replied me, giving me a link to a related thread on a similar problem. I had tried all the suggestions there which include replacing the apostrophe with some codes, disenabling the Rich Editor Text (RET) in my WP blog and copied and pasted the links and custom track image more than 20 times till I lost count. After all the frenzy and I still could not submit the post, I gave up and went to bed but the never-give-up attitude in me made me still thinking of the problem albeit my eyes are shut. It didn't help that hubby is having a flu and kept sneezing and blowing his nose the whole night till I couldn't fall into slumber. My peeling skin was also making me itch the whole night. I then went to the gals' room and managed to sleep for a couple of hours. Now I am feeling like I am floating and just don't have much mood to blog. Just want to sleep. Also very pissed with 3P's system coz many posties are facing this expensive technical glitch which is still not resolved yet. The post that I had published in my blog has expired in PPP's system and unless they approve my post manually, all my effort would be wasted and money gone too. What a long night of wild goose chasing that has drained me out completely!

Sherilyn's 1-Month Old Picture

That's Sherilyn during her full-moon dinner at the Overseas Restaurant. Time really flies and in 2 months, my baby girl will be 3 years old. I just can't believe that she will be going to pre-school in less than 3 weeks' time. It will be hard for me to let go as I have always treated her like a baby and I know I will be worried sick when she's in school.

The dress that Sherilyn was wearing as shown here was made by my mil for Alycia for her full-moon. There is pretty smocking sewn by my mil on it. It still looks brand new coz the dress has only been worn twice - once by Alycia and once by Sherilyn. Now, their new baby sister can wear it too during her full-moon dinner next year.

My Favorite Cream Puffs

Before hubby left for the gym located at Mid Valley yesterday, I had told him that I was craving to eat Beard Papa's cream puff and asked him to get me a few after his gym session. When I called him during lunch time, he told me that he was rushing and did not manage to buy the cream puffs. I was really disappointed. You know, when a pregnant wants to eat cream puffs, she has to eat cream puffs.

In the evening, when hubby came home, he surprised me with a big box of Beard Papa's cream puff - 6 of them! My hubby, he just loves to pull my leg all the time, from day one I had known him.

And so, I relished every bite of the cream puff. They are the tastiest I have ever eaten. Alycia and Sherilyn loved them to pieces too and we all finished them in 2 days. My maid had one too.

Relief For Dry Skin

Upon the advice of some of my readers, I got myself a jar of Vaseline petroleum jelly to apply on my skin. Though it has brought some relief, but my skin is still peeling quite badly and I have just realized that my dry and itchy skin could be caused by the air conditioner. During the day when I am downstairs where there is no air cond, my skin does not itch much. However, when I am in my room when the air cond is switched on OR when I am at my gynae's office where the air cond is freezing OR when I am at the shopping malls or church, my skin itches like mad. So I think I now know the cause of my dry, peeling and itchy skin. So am I willing to give up the air cond yet? I don't know, I am just so used to sleeping in an air cond room. Perhaps I will give it a try tonight. After all, everyone will benefit from a non air cond room coz the gals' paed has advised us many times NOT to put them to sleep in an air cond room due to their sensitive nose and throat.

Blog Rush Madness

Just realized that I have typed 19 posts today! Still have not beat my record of 25 posts a day. If it was not because of the deadline of submitting the assignments by tomorrow, I would not have rushed like this. But as I have said earlier, I find I work better under pressure. I guess my brain needs some pushing and shock to make it budge to send stronger brainwave, LOL! What also helps are power naps. I had 2 short power naps today; one at 11am for 15 minutes when I surrendered my PC to the gals to do their reading and another one at 4pm for 15 minutes when I put the gals to nap. Tonight, I have to blog hop and reply to comments in my blog.

Banana Orange Crepe

This is the banana and orange crepe that I made for lunch a couple of days ago.... all natural and organic ingredients. Though it was cincai (simply) made, it tasted really delicious, I kid you not. You come to my house and I'll make you some to try! I am so glad that Alycia and Sherilyn loved them so much. I made about 10 pieces and they were even enough to be eaten for dinner, yet the gals didn't get fed-up with them. I am going to make another batch of crepes on Saturday and this time, I will add sweet corn kernels, banana and orange. Stay tuned for the cincai recipe....

Seven Dont's After A Meal

Folks, I got this email from my cousin. Just some food for thought but don't know how far the truth is .....

7 dont's after a meal :

1) Don't smoke-Experiment from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher).

2) Don't eat fruits immediately - Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air and food to ferment. Therefore take fruit 1-2 hr after meal or 1hr before meal.

3) Don't drink tea - Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the Protein content in the food we consume to be hardened thus difficult to digest.

4) Don't loosen your belt - Loosening the belt after a meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted &blocked.

5) Don't bathe - Bathing will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs & body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease. This will weaken the digestive system in our stomach. (I thought this is an old wives' tale!)

6) Don't walk about - People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In actual fact this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.

7) Don't sleep immediately - The food we intake will not be able to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric & infection in our intestine.

MSG and Preservative-Free Burgers

I love burgers - chicken burger and beef burger. Most of the time, I make my own burgers but sometimes when I need a change, I will buy the Jusco Premium Selection burgers. Jusco's premium burgers are MSG-free and preservative-free. They cost RM8 for a box of 4-piece burger and almost 4-5 times higher than other brands of burgers like Ramly and Dindings. Of course Ramly burgers taste better as they are loaded with MSG and sodium nitrate but for health purposes, I would still buy the Jusco Premium Selection burgers. I prefer the beef burger to the chicken burger.

Alycia's Old Pictures

Was looking through the old pictures on my computer and saw these pictures of Alycia which I think are really cute. Alycia was a very chubby and big baby as compared to Sherilyn. Too bad I had misplaced the thumbdrive containing the digital pictures of Alycia taken when she was a newborn, otherwise I can post them in the blog for keepsakes.

This was taken when Alycia was 16 months old at our outing at Kids' Oasis at Bangsar Shopping Complex.

This was taken when Alycia was around 26 months. She was a hardcore pacifier sucker then and she needed 2 pacifiers to be able to fall asleep. It was on the advice of the speech therapist that I weaned her off when she was around 30 months old.

Sherilyn's Baby Photos

I was going through the old pictures on my computer and came across the photos of Alycia and Sherilyn when they were babies.

These 2 are Sherilyn. Looking at her old pictures, I realized how chubby she was and how I miss her chubby cheeks and chubby thighs. I get really obsessed when I see babies with chubby thighs as I really feel like pinching them and biting them, LOL!

Sherilyn when she was 2 months old.

Sherilyn when she was around 4-5 months old. The other baby is Alycia when she was around 18 - 19 months old.

Homemade Vegetarian Dish

This is one of my favorite dishes. I can eat nothing but just this dish the whole day long. On the second day of Chinese New Year when my mil is around, she will dish out a big pot of 'zhai' or vegetarian dish and everyone in the family will eat nothing but just this dish the entire day.

Yesterday, I cooked this dish and it was such a hit with Sherilyn, the no-meat eater. She loves the 'moke yue' (cloud fungus which is black in color), 'fatt choi' (a kind of nutritious seaweed that's very costly) mushrooms, chinese cabbage and glass noodles.

Ingredients :
1) Chinese cabbage
2) Black flower mushrooms
3) Golden needle mushrooms
4) Glass noodles
5) 'Fatt Choi' (Black seaweed called 'Angel's hair' that resembles human hair)
6) 'Foo Choke' (Soya bean curd sheet)
7) Puffed tofu
8) Dried bamboo fungus
9) 4 - 5 pieces of 'Nam Yue' (fermented tofu pieces that are red in color from China)
10) Vegetarian oyster sauce
11) 'Mok Yue' (dried cloud fungus)

Method of cooking :
1) Fry the fermented tofu pieces with oil in the wok till fragrant.
2) Add all the ingredients in except the chinese cabbage and glass noodles.
3) Stir fry until all the ingredients are fragrant and soft.
4) Add the chinese cabbage into the wok and stir fry.
5) Add in the glass noodles.
6) Add in the vegetarian oyster sauce and mix well.
7) Add in some water and cover the wok to simmer the vegetables for 10-15 minutes.

Yums... mummy.... I love the wig hair ....

Sherilyn enjoying the 'zhai', especially the angel's hair and kept saying they are 'wig hair', LOL!

Homemade Crepes

I've just made a batch of orange and banana crepes for lunch today. Though I had just cincai (simply) made it without referring to any recipe and without using proper measurement for the ingredients, the crepes turned out really tasty and were a hit with my 2 very fussy pot eaters. In fact Miss Spitty Spat Sherilyn ate the most. Am really satisfied and happy with the crepes I had made and I am now thinking of making another batch of crepes in a few days' time. This time, I will make creme of corn, orange and banana crepes. Shall post my cincai recipe for crepes soon, so stay tuned....

My IT-Savvy Kids

In this modern day and age, most kids are now IT-savvy. Toddlers are even taught to use the computer in pre-schools. This kiasu mum here does not want her gals to loose out and wants them to be on top of technology too. So she's taking advantage of their interest in the computer. Hop on to my other blog to read more....

Cheeky Sherilyn

Sherilyn, my little Miss Cheeky, always full of expression, drama, emotions and humor. These days, Miss Cheeky is being very vain and insists on choosing her own pajamas, clothes, socks and even panties! Anything that kakak or mummy choose for her will surely be rejected for she wants to pick her own clothes. Well, I guess most toddlers at her age are like that. Is yours like this too?

Reject Stall At Pasar Malam

It's been raining non-stop for the past 1 week and Alycia's sweaters can't get dried on time for her to wear for our next outing. So I went to this Reject Stall at the pasar malam (night market) last week and bought an original Disney Peter Pan sweater for Alycia. This Reject Stall sells a wide range of cute and pretty original Disney clothes for babies and toddlers that have been rejected by the factory manufacturing these clothes for Disney. The material is good and you can see that the workmanship and quality are also good.

The Disney label on the sweater.

The back part of the sweater.

Best of all, this rejected sweater only costs RM33. Original price was RM38 but as usual, after some bargaining, finally got this price.

I have seen similar sweaters selling at above RM100 at the shopping malls but didn't buy it coz I feel a toddler should not wear something so costly and even costs more than some of the clothes I buy for myself. Afterall, they outgrow their clothes REALLY fast.

Mothercare Sales

Mothercare outlets are having a sale now. Most of the items are on discount, some up to 50%. We bought this pack of 3 tops for Alycia at the Pavillion outlet. Original price was RM99 but got a 30% discount. I was surprised that she could even fit into these tops that are meant for ages 7-8! The outlet at Pavillion does not carry many choices of items. When we were at Mid Valley, we were surprised to see that the Mothercare outlet there has so much more items, though the outlet is smaller. Quite a good sale and I'm thinking of going there again to get another round of loot!
