Alycia Has Super Sensitive Nose

No wonder she's always having runny nose. We brought Alycia to the paed again this morning as she has been sneezing and feeling a little under the weather. Also puked this morning. So she didn't go to school for 2 days since Monday. Her paed said she's got super duper sensitive nose. She does not have a cold or flu but the sneezing and mucous are caused by her sensitive nose and allergy. Remember the fluid built-up in her ear 2 weeks ago? It's also caused by her sensitive nose. No wonder she always seems fine one day and the next day, she'll be sneezing her nose away. Her visit to the paed's office is almost certain every month caused by her sensitive nose and her paed has been prescribing her with this medicine for her sensitive nose which she has to eat at night for 2 weeks. Today, the paed prescribed her with a nasal spray which I have to spray into her nostrils each night for 1 month. Hopefully the nasal spray will keep her allergy at bay. I really don't like the idea of spraying some steroid-containing chemical into her nose but looks like we have no other choice coz her visits to the paeds' office are just too frequent.

Meanwhile, I'd appreciate it if someone would just let me know what food is good for preventing nose allergies. As for other preventive measures, our paed says no air-cond or migrate to a country with cleaner, fresher air!

Try Scott Emulsion. It cured your sensitive nose when you were little!

Hi Shireen, a HEPA filter works for me bcoz I am having sensitive nose since small till now. Since I have been using this HEPA filter for 4 mths, I realised that it reduces my sneezing and somedays totally free from sneezing.

Another method which u can try is get some bosistos-eucalyptus-oil which I have posted in my blog. In the instruction paper, they teach you to put few drops of the oil in a basin of lukewarm water and smell from it. It can reduces cold symtomps, hopefully it can reduces some of the mucus in the nose. Better remedy than using nasal spray. Just my opinion.

hahaha...your mum is right. we all took scott's emulsion when we were little, eh? :D i should prob start ashley on that too cos her paed said she may have sensitive nose too and gave her some allergy med to be taken the rest of the month :(

Mom... i feed your 2 precious granddaughters orange flavored Scotts Emulsion everyday. Also feed them Manuka honey. But i guess an allergy is an allergy... it will take some time to go away. I remember my allergy only went away after i was in my early 20s!

Mom to Chumsy... i know how it feels... to be feeding our little ones medicine for so long. And the medicine makes Alycia cranky & whiny too :(

i was about to ask u on the Manuka Honey. sigh....after spraying the nasal spray for a while, QQ's nose is unblocked, but only temporary. Now it is back again, so got to continue with the spray :( I tot of the Hepaire too, but doubt it really works :(

Myecila... i doubt an air filter will work for my gals coz we hv a Sharp Ion Plasma air filter but no effects at all.

Wen... tks 4 dropping by. My paed did jokingly ask us to migrate to other countries which have cleaner air. He said one of the contributing factors to sensitive nose is air pollution. Our hse is facing a main road.

Hui Sia... we hv LB too but stopped using for a while. Maybe i shd try it again. That's my mom, not my mil :)

Chin Nee... our paed said that once the nasal spray is stopped, the allergy will come bk again. I must really do a google search on nose allergy and see what remedies are effective.

Hey .. FM,
Get a aircleaner.. that should help a little more. And use the vaporub steamer .. when she sleeps.. that should help with the dis congestion.

I'm not familiar with sensitive nose but XY has sensitive lungs. Doc asked us not to let her take cold drinks n ice-cream.

Jess... tks for the suggestion. I feed my gals NZ Manuka Honey UMF5 everyday. That helps with strenghtening the immune system but not reducing Aly's allergy :(
Heard of a salt lamp but dont quite know what it is.

Mamabok... we hv an air filter but that does not help either.
